Hey all! I want to buy a new mid range phone which is decent, but also has decent developer support, and is small in size (~5 in).
Not necessarily specific, but i wanted your help in getting pointed to the right direction of a developer friendly company/ a phone which has active dev support and is not necessarily a flagship, since i like to tinker a lot and install custom roms, xposed modules etc. Thank you!

I know this is stupid...and i may not get any replies over here...
but still giving it a try...
My budget is around 20k (300$), and i needed a phone which i can give it a future update as well. Since Android L is gonna come too, i would really want it in my phone. I'm currently using Huawei Y 200, and it pretty much sucks...! (NO CUSTOM ROMS MADE FOR IT )
so guys please help me out here!!!!!!!!
Hi there,
I'd recommend asking that question in the off-topic section of XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/off-topic
Since it doesn't really regard any form of development or needing a phone to be fixed, it is probably best placed there.
You will find lots of keen XDA users who I'm sure will input and tell you what they think.
Good luck!
P.S: I'd go for the Moto G

Dear Sir,
Iam looking for a new smartphone that should last for the coming two years.
the specs that Iam looking for is a reliable one.
I have some models in mind but I need your assistance in order to decide.
first choice: Huawei mate S or LG G4 or Samsungs S6 Edge +
second choice : Gionee Elife E8 or BLU Pure XL or Allview X2 Xtreme.
Remark: in option 2, although the three look like together but there should be some one who is better in quality and manufacturing products.
here I need your advice and recommendation for option 1 & 2
last but not least, if you really recommend a mobile that is not in the above list then I will be more than happy to hear from your side.
Awaiting for your reply and thanks in advance
Hello,
Thank you for using XDA Assist
Thank you also very much for asking our advise as to your new phone choice.
While most of us here very big phone enthusiast and have been on these boards for years, the one thing we have learned is that there is so much individualism and what someone may want for their device is not the same that someone else may want.
You have to analyze what is best for you.
What do you want to do with your phone?
How much is a certain feature valuable to you?
This is like asking which is the Best Rom? There is no answer for that!
It is what is best for the user.
May suggest you make a list as you have of devices you may be interested in.
Then go to read about each device the specs, maybe go to the XDA Forum for those devices and read what the users there are saying about it.
Collect as much information as you can then sit down go through it and figure out what is best for you.
Good Luck
Ragnar
Looking for a new android for my boyfriend to replace his current awful phone, and finances are a bit tight right now. We're hoping to find a device under $170, it needs to have SD support to hold all his music and photos, GSM unlocked for Cricket Wireless, and we'd like to find one that has flexibility on custom ROMs. He really likes the one I have, the Huawei Ascend Mate 2, which has CM and PAC, and around the $200 range, but we're wondering if the people of XDA have other devices to recommend. Like me, he also prefers large-ish screens... no tiny phones. It'd also be great to have one that is eligible for Lollipop. Perhaps I am asking too much.

Ah, thank you!!
I am one who is currently and desperately trying to block these unprovoked calls and messages from unknown and not from my contacts. One can says simply that I should go to the play store and download an app or two. My issue is that this solution, even with supposedly the best apps I got from there, they do not work all the time. I'm thinking that there but more of a professional approach to this issue which so much of us have and are experiencing. From my minimal knowledge of handling and managing a rooted phone, I do believe that many more options are opened for this issue. But the only things which I can think of as to why that would be are that the stock rom was not built as stable as a custom rom where it's built a lot better, with many more features too. I know a little of exposed and have used a rom with but never known if it has modules for this. Therefore, I turn to the experts here at XDA to please let me know how the experts would handle my situation so that I can follow their lead. Thank you very much and happy holidays.

I was wondering what peoples opinion is on what the best Android smartphone is for a root user?
Something that has a lot a large community, plenty support, and the capability of developing further?
I don't just want to know 'what's the best android phone', as I don't really care what its like out the box. I'm looking for a phone with massive potential for complete customization.
Its time to get rid of the awful iPhone 5s!
Cheers,
