Hard bricked or not Glaxay S7? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi there,
Not sure, but I think I might have hard bricked my phone last night. It gave me a warrant void count of 1. It gets stuck on the "Samsung S7 powered by Android" boot screen, it CAN go to download mode, but it won't be discoverable by any USB port (tried on multiple computers). Odin or windows don't detect it, and if they do they don't install any drivers. Can anyone help me get out of download mode and into recovery mode? I've tried holding the correct button combo, with no luck. I can shut it down to the battery screen, I can load the boot loop or Odin download mode. but I don't know what to do from there.

I tried to load the TWRP AP file through Odin, which worked, then in Recovery mode I use ADB to push SU onto it. I think that might have triggered the identity security. When I rebooted.

I personally used CF-Autoroot and with Flashify I installed twrp and had no problems. So, you said your phone can go to the download mode. Then I would suggest to install smart switch on your pc which also installs the necessary drivers. After that, run odin with administrator rights and if it sees your phone then just download a stock firmware from the Internet and flash it via odin and that should fix your problem.

you'll have to re-enter odin & reflash a stock rom, if you want it rooted you'll have to then re-enter odin, install su and recovery that way, only way it's gonna sort itself out

How do i get it to become discoverable by usb? i tried the smart switch application, but it still won't detect the device.

Try reinstalling USB drivers, use original USB lead try different USB ports as well.
When the drivers are installed, reboot your pc as an added measure, right click odin for administrator privileges then connect your phone
If all else fails as a last resort, assuming your on windows you'll have to go into device manager, Google the rest as O forget how to re-add a USB connection mot showing up

I Had a similar issue. I pressed the combination to enter in download mode for some time, phone reboot sometimes until it works... try this dude

Hold Volume Down & Home & Power until the phone reboots TWICE
Do not let go of the buttons when it first reboots, keep them pressed for TWO reboots

Take out the battery, wait a full minute. put it back in and the case back together without inadvertantly hitting either the power or up/down keys. Now press the down key. While holding it down, hold down the power key. If that doesn't put you into download mode, you have done the impossible. These phones are (almost) impossible to brick.
I have seemed to have done the something similar as I was trying to reflash with ODIN and the phone went black, I left it alone for several minutes and now when I try to turn the phone on I just have a graphic with a phone and a computer with a little triangle with an exclaimation mark in the middle and nothing else happens.

i beg to differ
nothing is working for me either
So I went to This Site pathikshah. com /blog / install-android-2-2-froyo-galaxy-s/ (sorry about the spaces new user and xda wont let me post links, not spamming honest), I did exactly as it said it was working as planned until it reset after install. First instead of the vibrant screen coming up it now says:
Galaxy S
GT-I9000
Then It goes to:
Android System Recovery <3e>
on that screen it says twards the bottom:
update media please wait
E:Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(Invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Cant mount SDCARD:
your storage not prepared yet, please use UI me
nu for format and reboot actions.
copy default media content failed.
so when I try to scroll through the recovery menu I have to push vol Up to scroll down
also it does nothing when i press the ok button (power button), unless I hold it down then it resets and goes back to the same recovery screen
I rooted the samsung galaxy s then added a rom and the rom is crashing my phone I've tried aboslutely everything don't know what else to do.
i also have a problem
i have install ROM manager and make a back up
went i try to recovery my backup it give me first the original recovery mode i know i have to select update.zip to access the clockworkmod recovery (ver 2.5.1.2 last one) i use the option restore and start it
now my phone just reboot in recovery mode
i'm looking if some one have a working ROM backup
tnx for your help

Thank you for the video link. I was up to that point unable to get the download/shoveling droid screen. Now I'm in the process of finally getting the phone back to stock after downloading the t-mobile update that cam through and bricked the phone.
no downloading mode
Hi i was hoping this will help me to reenabeling my bricked samsung. But i cant get it in to downloanding mode. the 3 button way isnt working and the way showed in the movie neither. Is there an other way to get the phone back to work?
I have tried all the methods posted here as well as many others from the link posted above. But to no avail.
I did everything successfully up until the reboot. Whereupon, it would not start. No amount of button combination helped me. And taking out the battery pack is no help either. It just won't start. I could use any advice.
Thank you.
I'm in the same boat now, attempted to odin back to stock and now I have a brick. It's just blank, I cant get it into download or recovery mode using any method described.
Is my only shot the jig method I've read about now?
EDIT
Nevermind, I got it. Pulled the battery, replaced it, held down both power buttons, inserted usb (already plugged in comp w/ odin open), boom..entered download mode and flashed..

Remove the battery and insert it again, now keep pressing the volume buttons and connect the USB cable to your phone, the usb cable must be connected to your pc first.
hey, i also experienced bricking my phone. is there a step by step process how to unbrick it? i need urgent help please. by the way im using samsung galaxy s 4g (
after i have gone to download mode. my computer cannot recognize my device. help me please.
to the post above me. Sounds like you have a bad usb data cable. Grab you a new cable online and you should be good to go
I'm assuming you have already downloaded the drivers to your computer. Sasmung.com will have them

I think I bricked my Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920I

Ok, so I tried to root my phone using odin and cf auto but at the end of the process when my phone got rebooted I was stuck on the logo screen for ages and this small red text showed at the top saying something like recovery is not seandroid enforcing. So after searching through solutions I tried formatting the phone but when I tried to go into recovery mode it just rebooted back to the logo screen. So I then tried to reinstall the firmware but after doing this Odin said failed and then my phone got rebooted and is now stuck on the message "An error has ccured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software." But Samsung Kies and Smart Switch says my device is not supported and when I try to go into recovery or download mode the phone just turns of and goes back to the error screen. Can anyone please help me. This is a new phone and my parents would kill me if they found out I screwed it up already.

Put your phone in download mode and use odin to flash ROM. It will work.
Good luck
1) smartswitch or kies wont work at all because you already tripped your knox
2) recovery is not seandroid enforcing <- this text shows you have custom recovery installed.
3) you possibly didnt turned knox off. settings>lock screen and security > find my mobile> there will be an option to switch it off
now solution
1st of all you havent bricked it! its soft bricked and not hard bricked(hard brick wont even turn on)
what you can do is let the battery drain off totally charge it and try to put it in download mode > odin > flash stock rom first(important step).
from there try to turn it on if it does you great. and dont use cf auto root if you are not familiar with it download some other roms which are way better than stock touchwiz, pre rooted and way better than it(like the note5 rom for s6 by arter).
by the way keycombinations >
downloadmode = vol down+home+power to switch off download mode vol down+ power only
recoverymode= vol up+home+ power
if you can put it in download mode follow my steps and hopefully you can, just keep trying

My phone wont go into download mode. When I press the button combination, the phone reboots and goes back into the screen saying the software error again. And the first time I tried to flash stock the phone is how the error message came up.

Ok so I let my phone completely drain of charge, then the second I put it on charge, the phone goes to the software error screen. Download mode just reboots phone into the error screen and recovery mode doesn't seem to do anything. Ill see if Odin recognizes the phone though
Ahm probably you missed something that could help you resolve your issue in much less time.
1. Press Vol Down + Power Button for 5 seconds until it reboots. After the screen is off then quickly switch to Vol down + Home + Power button to access download mode.
It is the key combination to safemode but it your case, it will just force restart your phone. No need to drain your battery.
2. Maybe most of the newbies always missed this part before doing anything to their phone. Backup (either on smart switch or Nandroid*best option)
3. You need to have proper samsung usb drivers installed and check in odin if your phone was recognized.
The only thing I see from your first post is that the firmware installation (odin) was interrupted. Please let it finished installing before doing anything in ur phone. Check faulty usb ports/usb cables to ensure your pc/laptop works well with ur s6.
Let us know how if u still encounter any issues.

Thank you guys
The phone is all good now. It turns out that the software error screen was also the download mode. So I flashed the stock rom and everything is fine now. Thanks for the help.

Even though knox is tripped you can use smartswitch.
I know this because I have done it.
I rooted my phone, installed custom kernel, etc.
I then broke the screen, and since it was a hardware issue, I got it covered by my phone provider. (I am in Aus, we have different warranty laws compared to the USA.)
But I had to return it to stock. So I used Smartswitch to do so, even with knox tripped.

Soft Brick. PC, Odin, Fastboot won't recognize, But can see other Samsung device

Hi guys,
This is my first attempt to fix an Android. A family member asked me to take a look at her soft-bricked Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (GT-P3110).
I can get it into 'Custom OS' screen (home + vol. down)
I can get it into 'Recovery' screen (home + vol. up)
I've been trying to figure out a way to reinstall a stock rom. I taught myself ADB and Fastboot, after navigating I was able to do a 'adb devices,' but nothing shows up. I also tried to connect via Odin, but nothing shows up. Every time I connect the tab to my laptop it says "USB device not recognized"
I did more research. People said it's a driver problem. So i downloaded samsung drivers, didn't work. Deleted it. Downloaded HTC drivers, didn't work. Deleted it.
Also downloaded a driver manager/deleter...(usbdeview) i deleted all the drivers that could be associated with the tablet. Then I installed universalADBdriver. Still nothing!
If I could connect to the tab via USB. I think I could figure it out from there...It would atleast give me some hope. But i can't even connect. Are there ways other than USB that I can install a Stock ROM? Please, your advice would be greatly appreciated.
p.s. Is it possible that it is a 'Charge only' usb cord, not a data cord. I really don't want to wait and buy another data cord. But i will if you guys think I should rule it out first.
Go to Recovery. Wipe data and factory Reset.
If that does not work, then
Download and install Samsung USB drivers or Samsung Kies.
Download and install Odin.
Download the stock image for your device.
Boot into Download mode. (Vol down + power)
connect the usb cable and check if Odin recognizes the device.
Uncheck everything except Auto-reboot. Select PDA and open the file (.tar.md5) you downloaded.
Flash it. MAKE SURE TO NOT INTERRUPT THIS PROCESS.
if stuck in a bootloop after flashing, factory reset the device via recovery.
the initial boot will take some time so don't panic and have patience.

Help - QDLoader 9008

Something went wrong with my 930T when I tried to flash the deodexed rom and root. Now the phone is stuck on an all-black screen and is only recognized by my computer as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader. Is there a straight-forward (or non-straightforward) way to get the phone into download mode or to manually restore it.

Did the problem occur after the flash of the rom or after rooting?
And have you tried putting it in recovery mode or download mode already?
It occurred after rooting. I have tried to use various key presses (no responses when not connected to a computer, power down for a while does get a disconnect sound from windows). Nothing has gotten anything to pop up on screen. I have the odin restore files ready once I figure out how to get the phone to download mode.

*Also Before you try this turn it off and let it charge for an hour or so...*
So in that case I'd attempt the same key presses to put it in download mode even if nothing is displayed...
1. Volume Down + Power + Home to put it in download mode
2. Then press Volume Up to continue past the warning screen even if nothing is displayed.
3. Grab The Latest Version of Odin here
4. Then Download The Stock Firmware, in this case you will need whichever version you have (if you do not remember you can just download the latest available firmware) Download Firmware and then extract it. (If you have 5 different files in the zip go to step 8)
5. Then install Samsung device drivers(if not already).
6. Start Odin, Plug in the S7, Load in the tar.md5 in the AP/PDA and uncheck Auto Reboot and Repartition.
7. Let the phone restart... VIOLA!!!
8. Alternatively if the zip has 5 files... They should all start with the corresponding buttons in Odin For Example:
AP_G930TUVS3APD8_CL7856276_QB9546176_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
BL_G930TUVS3APD8_CL7856276_QB9546176_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CP_G930TUVS3APD8_CL7856276_QB9546176_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
CSC_TMB_G930TTMB3APD8_CL7856276_QB9546176_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
HOME_CSC_TMB_G930TTMB3APD8_CL7856276_QB9546176_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
After they are entered into Odin you hit start and after a few minutes ... It should be fixed....
Let me know if you have any further questions or issues...

Try to get out of download mode and reboot device by pressing both volume buttons for 7 seconds aprox., assuming that you previously unlocked bootloader (if it is possible) then you'll be able to repeat the operation, resetting Odin and disconnecting device this will give a new chance to try it again.
