Hi everyone!
I have a international version of the s7 that I bought in France.
Since 1 week, my phones crash randomly and also every time I try to update or download an app on the store. It happens with two different roms (superman and galaxy project).
But not happy to only crashing, it also bootloop after it, sometimes during 20 minutes before booting correctly. And it makes the phone's temperature going up a lot. With all the issues with the note 7 heating and blowing, I fear for my s7.
Also, I can't just return it, because I'm not in France anymore, and it costs a lot to pay the taxes if I want to send it for a check (especially if they do nothing on it)
I was wondering if the cpu clocks on the roms has something to do with it.
If you have any suggestions, I'll wait for it.
Thanks

Hi
Do a factory reset , do not restore anything see if it works ok , if so then it maybe an app causing the problem
or you could flash a stock rom to test the phone and make sure there is no hardware issues
Thank you for your answer.
I'll take a try this weekend with a stock rom as I have the issue with 2 custom roms so far.
If anybody has other ideas until that, please let me know
Little feedback. I flashed the stock Samsung rom two days ago and it seems to work fine for now. But it was also quite fine with the custom rom at the beginning, so I will do another feedback after one or two weeks.
Well... The phone froze and rebooted 5 times in 10 minutes after trying to update some apps itself...
I had the same problem. At the end I was not able to boot Android. I had to claim my cell phone to seller. After one month it was repaired. The final verdict was SOFTWARE problem. They said that EFS was corrupted. One of Samsung firmware has bug which cause problem with EFS.
I also had that problem. I also had to send my phone to the repair center. In my case they replaced the mainboard.
I bought one early september and after two weeks it started doing just that. I tried everything, then sent it to the seller (ebay seller...) and the repair shop couldn't anything about it. I only got my money back yesterday. Back when I invesitgated the issue, nobody was talking about it. So since I liked the phone, I bought a new one from another place (less shady) yesterday... I now think I shouldn't have. Anybody knows more about this ?
Edit: I'm thinking that if I root the phone and backup the EFS and all sensitive partitions before starting using it (or even getting updates) I should be safe...
Yeah, that would be great, but your KNOX will be 0x1. So you will have problem to return this phone back with status 0x1.

Hello everybody,
Sorry for the very late reply. I actually sent my phone to another shop here in Japan. But this week, they send me a mail to say that they were not able to fix the issue. But still they taker me 50$ for the time...
I was thinking about buying a new one, but now that some of you are talking about an EFS issue, I'll try to fix again. I will look for some tutorial for that, but if you know how to procede, just reply here
Merry Christmas guys !
hello, i've been having a similar issue.
My phone would be fine for 2 weeks, maybe a month then Suddenly it would reboot to no end, it even reboots from TWRP.
It doesn't reboot while in Download mode. Then what i do to fix it is flash a stock rom from ODIN, sometimes the first couple or 5 times it will reboot during initial first boot up of this stock Rom. I would leave it alone for a while like half day then try it again in the evening or the next day.
Today for example, it started boot looping late last night and I installed Stock ROM with PIT FILE and Nand ERASE and Repartition ticked, boot loop, again, boot loop, tried it again, also rebooted before it started up to stock recovery and factory reset. Then it started up fine and has not rebooted so far.
But this has happened many times and it'll happen after 2 weeks or 1 month. When it does, i first go and delete cache and delvic cache to see if that would fix it, but it doesn't.
Right now it works, but for how long i don't know, when it works, everything is fine with the phone, no imei or calling or heating issues.
I can't guess whats wrong, is it really EFS that got corrupted but not fully but eventually its finding a problem and causing boot loops or something if that makes sense??

Guys, i've seen alot of threads about boot looping and Randomized rebooting. i too am a victim of this error as well. it started one day withing the first week of april, when i left my phone on a table, then when i was going to get it, it was on the bootanimation.... so it was weird. the next encounter a day after, my phone did it again, but it was on my pocket at that time. it kept goint till 2 weeks later, i got my new laptop and now i can reflash to stock. when i flashed it, nothing happened the problem was still there. took me another 2 weeks to bring it to the service center since it was far from where i live. within the 2 weeks, the problem got worse. the phone said "usb storage unexpectedly unmounted then, poof. bootloop. i didnt see the go launcher's home anymore... aaaand ODIN no longer detects my phone when i plug it in... when i sent it to the service center they first thought it was just a software/firmware problem... but when the tried flashing to stock, they got an error. he said that it was a main board problem... so they'll need to take it in to change it...
i made this post so people can talk about the problems related to this. and when ever random reboots, and bootlooping happens and is not fixed by flashing to stock, then dont bother flashing it... BRING IT IMMEDIATELY TO THE SERVICE CENTER!!!
i see your from phil. what city you came from? me too im in bulacan. Where is the service centre of samsung here?

Hi guys
So I bought tablet here in the UK about a month ago and apart from being sluggish on ICS (seems, everyone knows that problem) everything was fine. The JB OTA FW has rolled out and I upgraded and shortly after that TF300 started to play around by randomly rebooting itself every so often. Recently It got so bad that it happens all the time I mean in less than every 5 minutes.
I am gonna take it back to the shop but I am curious if any of you had this problem and if You know what's causing it...Ohh.. forgot to mention that obviously I did the Factory Reset and it didn't help...
I have to admit that after my faulty device and so many people had on this forum I will never ever unlock it after i get it back fixed/replaced...It's just not reliable enough to trust Asus on that especially if it cost so much money to fix it after ...
i ve got mine for over a month now. First ICS and JB later, I honestly can remember it ever rebooting

When I read your issue, the first thing I thought was how glad I am that I'm unlocked and running stable builds rather than the stock ASUS stuff.
If the issue is hardware related, ASUS should cover it under warranty regardless of locked or unlocked. Unlocking it didn't cause the hardware to fail. If it's a ROM issue, you can easily re-flash or try another. It's a win-win.
Regardless, good luck with your tablet.

After doing factory reset did you try your pad without restoring any apps? It could be that an app you had was causing the reboot, it seems strange that it didn't do that on ICS and it does on JB.
Yes i did..but then again it was working fine on ICS so can't be a single app besides it usually reboots when the screen goes off...I started to think that it may have something to do with the bootloader since one it didn't even boot but stopped on asus screen giving me some message about bootloader error etc.(can't exactly remember what it said)..one way or another it is strange that only some ppl get this random reboots and for other jb is working fine so I'm gonna get it replaced or money back and maybe but tf700 ..i was gonna unlock it and flash custom rom but if problem still occurs then I'm completely screwed on money...

Hi guys, I got my G920i from an ebay seller that everyone here has been talking about. The phone was in great condition and everything was fine with the phone for the first 24 hours. Ever since then , my phone has been constantly rebooting after a few hours on it's own. I have not installed any apps that I normally don't have on my other android device , the oneplus one. The G920I is not rooted or anything. The only app I can think of , that is different this time from the OPO , is the samsung push service update. I checked around and could not see anyone else who had recvd the Push service update and was facing the same issue.
Please help!
same
I have the same issue. I also bought the international version off of eBay. I didn't notice anything for about two days, but have now had the phone restart on me three times. All three times I was not actively using the phone and the screen was off.
One thing that I tried was to reinstall the Samsung push service update. That worked for 3 days as I didn't see any more reboots. And just 15 mins ago it happened again while the phone was in my pocket. Hope this gets fixed soon.
It has happened to me twice. I just disabled the auto update feature for my apps to see if that actually works. Will let you know if it worked after a couple of days.
I've had the phone since last tuesday and didnt notice any random reboots until this app updated and now i have 3-5 a day

the samsung push service or whatever it was called that was supposed to fix the battery everyone claimed
Can you check this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/nearby-wifi-portal-causes-constant-t3086743
Maybe it's the same issue and we can narrow down the problem.

Im only around open networks at work and it does the soft reboots around my house which is secured
My random reboots started shortly after the Samsung Push Services app was updated. I force stopped it, disabled it and uninstalled the update and I haven't had a reboot in a while.
My phone was rebooting several times every day before that.
Edit: The random reboots are back. This is very frustrating.
reflash the firmware fix the problem for me. No reboot since 24 hours. 5 to 6 reboots per day before. Hope it will continue.
I also have the same issue. It has happened 2 times for me, today and yesterday. I had the phone in my hand and suddenly I see the Samsung logo. Within 5 minutes it reboots 2-3 times. This sucks =(
I have the same problem, it only happens to me when I open Play Store or when I update something.
Edit: I have the F model.
I have had my 920i for almost a week, and I haven't had any random reboot at all. Everything works as supposed to.

I bought my 920i from Breed on Ebay. Everything has been great for the most part, but I do experience a random reboot at least once every few days. It just happened to me while sitting on my desk.
I am rooted, but I don't have any crazy customizations and I applied stock recovery after root. Only one app is frozen and it's that Samsung Security Agent process that was draining my battery. I also have it connected to a Gear S, but I'm pretty sure that's not the issue.
I wiped it twice yesterday and then set it up. It's definitely not a ROM/cache issue. I'll be interested to see if anyone figures out what this is. It could just be a bug that we'll have to deal with until the next update. Fortunately, the phone restarts super fast.
I also believe this is a software issue. I am not rooted and don't see myself doing that any time soon.
Which network are you using on your 920i? I am on AT&T network

AT&T here, also.
I'm using the G920F with an european carrier, so I think that is a global problem.
It happened to me twice today. That's a first. The only thing that's different is that I have a Gear S connected full time.
Didn't Android 5.01 cause the phone to reboot after some time due to running out of available memory?

Hello everyone,
This is my first post on XDA so please forgive me if I'm doing something wrong (I also posted in the T-Mobile S6 Forum).
So my story, I got a refurbished unit G920T at Swappa, I updated to the newest version directly (G920TUVU3DOI1) and it was working fine for the first week or so. Then the reboots started happening, I didn't give it too much thought but looked into it anyways.
At first I thought it was a problem with the WiFi and I tried to keep it off for a while, and it did work for a day but again the restarts kept happening, and now with the phone turning off during the night (no apparent loss in battery mind you).
Then I went to rooting and custom kernels.
I installed unikernel v8-0002 through Odin3_v3.10.6 and I tried removing some Samsung apps with TitaniumBackup in case there was some conflict happening but the restarts kept happening.
Then I installed a custom ROM, "XtreStoLite_ROM_v2.4_Deo-Mod-Edition_XXU3COI9_G920-5-F-I-T-W8-K-L-S" to be more specific.
And to my surprise it worked great, no restarts or shutdowns for about 2-3 weeks, it was great!
But then out of the blue the restarts started happening, they started slow, about 2-3 a day.
But after a few days they went to 10-20 and after that 100-200 a day.
Something was definitely wrong. So I installed the original firmware again (G920TUVU3DOI1_G920TTMB3DOI1_G920TUVU3DOI1_HOME) and booted to the stock firmware, restarts kept happening of course (didn't expect them to stop).
So I retreaded my steps and installed multiple other kernels (Unikernel V9, Vindicator, multiple different flavors of them). Also I installed multiple ROMs (Arrow_ROM_v6.0.0, and DN5 - S6 FLAT - EDGE v4 OJ5 - deodex) but nothing seems to work;
I did multiple wipes, storage wipes, cache wipes, factory resets (from GUI and twrp-2.8.7.2-zeroflte) but every time the same thing happens.
I did notice that the phone stutters and freezes, a behavior that I have not experienced before.
I installed CatLog and got multiple log files when the phone restarts but all of them are different and there is no "pattern" to be found (at least in first inspection). I want to upload them but my post count prohibits it.
Please let me know what can I do, I will reply to your questions ASAP so at least I can get some light into what is happening.
Thank you!
Well, if this is happening across multiple roms/software it can only really be hardware at fault I would think?

Hello!
After I posted this I ended up talking to T-Mobile and apparently the phone still is under warranty and they sent me a shipping label to return the phone and get another one from them.
Which is good but also I tripped KNOX but I don't know how much they care about that.
Fingers crossed I guess.
Thank you for replying!
Good to hear of a semi positive result! Let us know!

OK, so I have now been playing around with things for about 3 years. I have experienced something recently that I never saw before. I had a Tmobile Note 4 (SM-N910T3) variant for almost two years. The entire time I had it rooted. I downloaded Kodi, and two days later things started acting crazy. I would open an app, the phone would go into the app, and then restart. So I went in and re-flashed the original firmware. I rooted once more, and the same thing, restarts out of no where, or gets stuck in black screen for a while., or just gets stuck and eventually restarts. So I tried a custom firmware, same thing. So I thought, maybe it was something to do with the root I was using. So I re-flashed the stock firmware, and this time, I did not root the phone. It was still happening. Also, when I go to flash stock firmware, or any firmware, or reset the phone, it takes forever. I tested it against another exact same variant, and it took 8 times as long. The only thing I could think of was that when I DL Kodi, I burnt either some of the on board memory, or the cache. Has anyone ever heard of this, or is there something I could do to find the problem? Thanks as always.
OK I guess no one knows
Did you upgrade from kitkat to Lolipop or Marshmallow?
Maybe your emmc got corrupted.

If different os software produces similar results, that points to a hardware problem IMO.
