it's an app that allows carriers to install more bloatware. likes games and other crap
Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk

This is obvious stuff. "Show system" and lets see what's disabled.

I was uninstalling some bloat and lost screenshot shortcuts both in the 2nd screen & pull down menu.
I believe it was the QuickMemo+ app. Not sure though but I found it weird because I thought that would be system app.
Sent from my T-Mobile LG V20.

I've noticed a ton of apps on the TMO version can be flat out uninstalled. Surprising. Normally all the TMO apps have to be disabled, but it let me uninstall TMO TV, Caller ID, etc. It even let me uninstall a bunch of LG apps. Thats either a major oversight, or LG is badass like that.

Hey guys!
So now that we have root access to our LG V20s, we should start compiling apps and processes that are safe to debloat and freeze with Titanium Backup on Nougat.
Ever since I got the AT&T V20, it has been great, but the battery life is lacking compared to my previous phones. Hopefully we can figure out the majority of background stuff we can safely get rid of and boost the battery.

Keep in mind, safe is a moving target. I've frozen a lot of things since I've rooted on my AT&T version but some apps I genuinely don't know what impact freezing them will have. Once I have a bit more time to work on this I'll post a debloat list from the AT&T side. One more final to take care of tomorrow then really getting into the inner workings of this device.

You're right. We still don't know what effect freezing might have. and because of that I am hesitant to freeze many things in the phone just because the root is so new. I notice there are some wakelocks in the phone that are running pretty excessively. Amplify does not work with the phone because it does not recognize the root, but there are other wakelock detectors that do. I just do not know enough about them to feel comfortable experimenting with them.

So What's the best thing from the update?

Anyone see any new functions from the new update, besides the new 3G Icon??
No reboots here. I still loose 3g often but it regains it back much quicker. Also easier to toggle LTE on and off.

Haven't seen anything worthwhile yet. I never had any reboot problems so this update did nothing but put more bloatware on my phone. I think its time to root.

I'd just like to say that I miss my old boot screen. And the new 3G icon looks like someone stepped on it. Other than that and the my Verizon app I haven't even noticed the update. My reboots stopped a few days ago, I had 4 days 9 hours and 2 minutes of uptime when I installed the update.

Please stop calling it mr2.5, we have a real MR2 out soo any radio before that is MR nothing it's just a leaked radio you will confuse people by saying mr2.5, when the actual MR2 OTA is out.

Should be in the top 3 of any "must have apps" list out there (imo). Constantly updated & supported and has saved my ar*e more times than I care to remember.. if your still feeling cheap and know where to look the pro version's plastered all over the place for free but to be honest this is one of those apps where the developer deserves the support (again imo).

Short answer yes, totally worth it.
Because the pro version will let you go back to your homescreen (do not hit the back button!!) and tb can run in the background doing a restore or backup. That alone is a great feature. Another is scheduled backups, not sure if that's a pro feature or not though lol...
totally worth, you should buy it.

The first thing I noticed after the update was improved fingerprint recognition. I've never had issues with my thumbs not reading, but it seemed my index fingers had to be perfectly aligned in order to unlock my phone. Now they work at off angles and much quicker.
I also promptly froze the Gear VR apps since I don't want to risk battery hits from something I won't use.
Anyone use stock messaging? I'm curious if the awful delay when trying to send a message is gone.
Just a question. With the app optimization do we still need greenery? Just wondering.

Weird thing I noticed was when when I factory reset after I took the update factory recovery was saying something about dfverify tree or something like that.
Interesting; I just had my Note5 unlocked and with my AT&T SIM in, I was able to download and install the update OTA.
Happy to see all known Stagefright vulnerabilities are now addressed.

SIM cards are used to determine OTAs for Nexus devices. But you are correct that they typically don't matter for other OEMs because each carrier gets a different model number assigned to their hardware variant.

Greenify? I'm wondering the same.
Wireless charging is being a lot more picky about where I place my phone on the pad after the update. I have to set it down a bit higher on the phone rather than centered like usual.

thats upsetting
i was having this problem prior to the update, was hoping for a fix
Samsung wireless charger is supper picky, third party ones, not so much
I'm already noticing improved battery life.
Unplugged for 3.5 hours, and in the marginal LTE/H area that I am for work, I would be down 20% or more with light usage. As of now, I'm at 89%.
Is anyone else experiencing issues with Text Messages? I'm using the stock messaging app (after I started having issues with EvolveSMS). I'll get the same text messages from someone 5 to 7 times, kind of getting annoying when my S2 vibrates and get's blown up with notifications.

It's the freaking wireless carriers who are in collusion with our regulatory bodies. They are untouchable and provide only the bare minimum required service while charging maximum dollar for it.

Coming to a S8+ from HTC 10

I've decided to take the plunge and finally change my HTC 10. This I've had since launch day direct from HTC, before that I had the M8. I've rooted both and was constantly running Viper Roms with no real issues whatsoever.
How does the S8+ compare and what tips, trick and general advice would you give a new owner to follow 1st? Are there any things that I need to do to the phone as soon as it comes out the box. I love to fiddle with my phones but I don't think I'll be rooting this one as I want to be using Samsung Pay.
Any advice and tips will be gratefully received.
Thanks

If you don't like Bixby download a package disabler and turn anything related to it off. I hate that button and am glad that it no longer works. Also do yourself a favor and get AdHell. Great adblocking program that actually has a package disabler within it.
