FRD-L19 - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

i am just wondering is anyone knows if this model can display LTE or will just show 4G? thank you to anyone with any information it is greatly appreciated

If it shows 4g there is a exposed module that allows you to change it to lte
That's my best advice

Nothing to fear about root. It gives you greater freedom.
Also there are some themes that might change 3G LTE icons.

find the rogers APN settings and add them.
Thanks. I had no idea it was that simple. You think tech support would have been able to give me that info when I talked to them. Anyway its now working, thanks a bunch.

Claro - Brazil 4G in Rio - look at these amazing speedtest results!

for real ladies and gents!
they said it could get as fast as 100mbps but I did not believe them.
NOW I DO!
#2 and #3 I used the bareari servers
I want this.
First and second pictures are the same.
actually 1+2 are a duplicate, maybe I erased the first one, it was the slowest at 40.xx or something....
Can you make a test on Barueri again and take a screen shot instead of using the test link?

Thanks! I just thought some variants of I9500 might also have 4G since some people here are ordering the international I9500 in 4G enabled countries.

Log in on the Vivo website and tell me the name of the plan they put for you.
Last week when I called them to get the 4G plan they put me on Multivivo 4G+ which is totally different from Smartphone 4G+.
I wasn't getting 4G at all. Later they found their mistake and fixed it. Now I get 4G perfectly.
hmmm mine is corporate... they told me to wait up to 24hrs bs.... anyways, i need to wait, otherwise i'll call again and make sure i'm on "smartphone 4g+"? that is the correct one?

It should be listed as SMART ILIM 4GPL 60* SMS+DDD-TIT
*60 is the amount of minutes you get from the plan. It can be a different number depending on the plan you get.
I thought VIVO's LTE plan was only 5mbps
this is awesome!

VIVO can get as high as 11Mbps.
Claro can get as high as 80Mbps.

VoLTE on unlocked version

I have a feeling I know the answer to this, but is there any way to enable VoLTE on the unlocked version, notably on the Rogers network in Canada?
Thanks

Ok thanks. That would be a yes on all of those (as it worked on my GS7 quite well) so is it just an option in the settings? If so I can't find it..?

Settings-->More-->Mobile network-->VoLTE calls. Enable that. If LTE stays connected when making a call you have VoLTE.

Thanks but that's what I originally feared: there is no VoLTE option anywhere in there..? I had done a search too and nothing pops up.
Rummaging through the internet, I found an article saying the unlocked version (mine) would NOT have VoLTE. No sure how accurate that was.

Are you connected to Wind by any chance? I don't think that network has volte yet. I think Rogers purchased them.
No, I'm on Rogers and I can confirm I had VoLTE before on my Galaxy S7, so it's neither the network or my account the issue.

Very weird. Maybe ask your carrier to check provisioning for your device. What bands does your carrier use for VoLTE?
it should be supported bu carrier it self , not only the phone ! check with them !
Well after some investigating, I have an answer: Rogers only support VoLTE on Apple, LG and Samsung devices...
This is really unfortunate but it's one last thing missing from the Honor 8 to make it my daily driver. It's an excellent device and I was very impressed for the price tag, but not having wireless charging, VoLTE and 4k video made me realize how much I actually use it.
Thanks for the help guys!

LTE discovery on Honor 8

Hi folks,
Just wondering: been trying to use LTE Discovery, which is mostly working, but it doesn't seem to want to show the LTE band I'm using.
Has anyone managed to get this to work? Or got an alternative app that will do the job?
Thanks.

Same issue
I asked the same question a while back for the same issue. I am not sure why the app doesn't work. I am on tmo-us and it would be nice to know whether I am on band 4 or band 12.

Hmmm random that nobody seems to know why. Bumping in case there's someone with a clue here.

LTE speeds while using VoLTE

I am currently a T-Mobile customer, and my phone drops to 3g speeds during phone calls. Thing is, my Nexus 6 (and even the crappy TMo Revvl) don't lose any speeds, and still operate with full LATE service, while my fancy U11 slows down.
Does any other TMo customers experience the same thing?
I do not experience what you describe.

Depends on the ROM. For some, it goes from LTE to H, LTE+ to LTE, or LTE to 4G. Either way, the icon always changes to reflect a slower data connection, and my speed tests have confirmed that this is not a cosmetic change.

Right, sounds like VoLTE is not working properly on your device. It should maintain LTE the whole time.
I don't recall doing anything specific other than making sure it was turned on in settings.

Thanks! I will adjust in a few minutes.
These settings didn't work for me. Still behaves the same way. In fact, the screenshot is exactly the same as my default APN. I guess I should have mentioned that I have the Sprint HTC U11 that I unlocked, and now using T-Mobile. I did not S-Off and flash over to unlocked as yet.

That seems like an important detail since Sprint uses special firmware... I think that's your problem. Install the US unlocked ROM.

Not the ROM....seems like I need to S-Off and flash the firmware itself. I I'm on a unlocked ROM.
