My battery is at 62%, and on the lockscreen it says 1 hour and 26 minutes until fully charged. I mentioned this in another thread about slow charging in the Q&A section. I don't know if I have a lemon or faulty charger possibly..... Anyone else have any stats to compare with me?
Is charging that bad?
Even I have seen users facing charging issues. This is what is confusing me. Hope someone clears completely if the new model has charging issues or not!
Here's my charging times according to Battery Widget Reborn.
it's quite a bit slower to charge with the included charger than my G4 with a QC2.0, but it's not terrible.
I do know that using the phone while it's charging will cause charging to take longer. I've installed Ampere to monitor the charging current, and it fluctuates wildly between 510 mA to 3350 mA it seems like. Hopefully someone else can install Ampere and compare stats, would be helpful.

Seems a bit slow for Quick Charge 3.0 but perhaps it is due to the version they are using which is 1.0 or something like that
At 16% I have measured up to 3250, but haven't tested very much.
So the phone takes about 2 hours 10 minutes to charge from 1% - 100%, and that's without using the phone during charging. Is that about the charging time other people are getting with the bundled charger? Still seems very slow compared to other flagship phones out there (my last phone was the Axon 7 with Qualcomm QC 3.0).
The charger itself (the box plugged into the wall or into a car 12V socket), offering a USB socket. The job of this element is to offer a stable 5 volts at the USB socket.
Hmmm, if I put the phone down, and clear all apps, the phone charges an average 35% per hour. I do have a ton of [email protected] running in the background, but that's the rate I get with the included charger. good? Bad?

I found that if you use the phone while charging, the charging almost comes to a standstill. Even when not using it, i can't see how Google can advertise up to 7 hours of use on a 15 minute charge
OK, I am reading posts like that this phone charges fully in 2 hours! Is that right? I mean from 0 to 100, it takes 2 hours? Is this some sort of joke? Rapid Charging and 2 hours? What am I missing here?

Yeah, in the google commercial for the pixel it says different. The commercial says it will charge 7 hours of up time in 15 min. That's def not the case with me.
I have Google Pixel XL and when I charge it from 0% it doesn't even get anywhere close to 100% in 15 minutes
I kind of want to get a OnePlus 3t because I miss the Dash charging from when I had the 3. That being said, charging speed is one of the only complaints I have about this phone which is pretty good I'd say.
My phone charged from 8% to about 90% in 1h30m
These are not good charge times. My Note 5 from 0% to 100% using their adaptive quick charger is 1 hour 5 minutes.
Poor charging times. 15 percentage in 15 minutes. Phone went to 29% from 14%. Zero usage in between obviously, wanted to measure that only.
Is the included charger the best or would a 3rd party wall charger be faster?
I ask because my LG V20 came with a QuickCharge 1.0 or 2.0 charger even though it's a QC 3.0 device. I am wondering if Google did something similar here?

Not trying to sound mean, but what's the point to the thread? Is it a question asking how to improve charging times?
BTW, I have a Xoom and I think it's just that it charges a lot faster due to the special charging port.
It will charge much faster if you connect it to 220 volt power sources, rather than 110.
Well I wanted to point out that it is an annoying factor for people to think about when considering buying the tablet but I understand your point

Ummm... wall voltage won't affect it. The device only takes in 5v regardless of the where you plug the charger.

up to 90% it seems pretty decent. it's that last 10 that seems to take forever. I think the last time I charged it I went from 30 to 90 in 2hrs then the last 10 took another hour.
I ran my note into the ground today and then started a stop watch to see how long it would take to fully charge it. 4.5 hours!!!!
Mine takes way too long to charge also!!
Charging a battery faster leads to more heat which reduces the life of the battery. A very high capacity battery will take longer to charge, all else being equal.
They could have sped up charging by using a non-standard supply voltage/current from the charging cable (like ASUS Transformers, which uses 15v instead of 5v) and thus charging the battery faster. But it would have just got a bit hotter which is not good for the battery.
The battery stores many times more energy than a smartphone battery, yet it only takes about twice as long to charge. I think that's pretty decent.
Given the battery's capacity (7000+mah) and the charge rate (around 2A) I'd say the charge time is right around what I'd expect.
I found the charge a bit slow aswell, but the battery last so long that it balances things out for me, i was disapointed at first until i realised how well the battery performs, regardless what apps i used.
Yeah, Im not too worried about the 4.5hour charging time, my battery lasts me a few days and I can always plug it in before bed and wake up to a fully charged tablet.
I use my tablet during the day and before I go to bed I put it on charge and it's full in the morning. Do some people use their tablet so much in the morning it's out of juice by the afternoon? Give your fingers a rest. My battery lasts me usually all day. Even with looking at YouTube etc.

Slow charging after last firmware update
When I went to bed last night I had 19% power left. Like I normally do, connected my Note to charge overnight. Woke up 7 hours later to find that it had only charged up to 49%. Within 5 hours from a depleted battery, I usually have a full charge. Any thoughts as to why this is the case?

I just bought my note yesterday, and I have to admit I was so surprised when I charged my note. It took 4hr to go from 7% to 89%. My previous Asus transformer tf300 can go from 0% to full charged in 2 hrs.( Not really big deal but it will be better if Samsung includes high voltage wall charger .

It sounds like you may have charged with your note 10.1 turned off.
The note 10.1 like many other tablets needs the tablet to be on while charging so the tablet can regular the rate of charge.
My Note 10.1 charges much faster turned on with WiFi, Sync and GPS disabled.
Mine goes from 25% to 100% in about 3.5 hrs.
from 90% to 100% takes about 45 minutes.

So do I (hello, fellow convert! ) and the real reason the Xoom charges faster isn't the port, it's 'cause the charger is 18W and is of a higher voltage (12v/1.5A vs. our 5v/2.1A). (I guess it could be argued that they had to go to a different port to not violate the PDMI spec the Samsung units use, though.)

You're being funny, I hope - our charger (just like any other charger released in the last decade) is a Universal Charger (100-240V/50-60Hz) so in any case the output voltage and current is the same no matter where in the world you plug it in.

That's not really true, though, as our tablet is in fact on when you're charging it- if you tap the power button when it's charging in the "off" state, you'll see that battery animation, and that's in fact a fully-running kernel but instead of running "Android" it's a special run mode more like a Recovery. The kernel is in fact running and alive.
FWIW my tablet charges far faster when off vs on, as there's far less simultaneous drain on the battery. Not sure what's going on with yours.

I hadn't completely shutdown my tablet since the update last week. I did so yesterday and now charging times seem to be back to normal. Something new from the update I noticed, when batery gets somewhere around 20% left, the battery indicator changes from green to yellow.
My tablet gets about 10 hours on battery, or more if im just reading the web. The most intensive app I run is candy crush and s-note.
That being said it seems to charge quickly, in about 3 hours. My complaint is the short charging cable it shipped with.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using XDA Premium HD app
in the last week my battery no longer "quick charges". i have 'Ampere' installed so i'm used too seeing it charge at around 2800mA. i vaguely understand that phones charge quicker up to around 80% and then at a slower rate for the remaining - it's not this.
when I plug in the, current starts at ~1300mA and climbs to just under 3000mA... and drops to ~440mA in a minute or so.
it doesn't appear to be the cable and/or charging block that came with the phone - using a 1A charger from my last phone gets similar results and i purchased a new cable that's compatible with high speed charging.
i really wanted to love this phone.
I have a Samsung quick Charger from a Note5, and it has never quick charged my PureXL (actually super slow charges it,) but after the last update, I noticed I got an overvoltage error using it....
The reason is that this phone is not quick charge enabled. That's actually something that needs to be built into the SoC + Kernel support. You have a solid 2A charger, it'll go fast, but it can't rapid draw like say, the premium motos or a OnePlus.

sorry, i don't think i explained myself that well. i'm pretty sure that i've noticed a change in performance. when the phone was new i remember the current being high when battery % was lower, and then decreasing as it charged.
in the last week or so it seems to be charging at a slower rate and with the original 2A charger and cable. if the battery is at 20% the current will increase quickly to something above 2800mA and then immediately decrease so that by the time it's at say 22% charged the current is at a steady 440mA.
oh! ****. i didn't realize that 'quick charge' was actually 'Quick Charge™ by Qualcomm®'.. nice and generic sounding.

My Nexus 6p is now facing the same problem as yours. It charges less than 3 hours before and all of a sudden two days ago, it has taken 10 hours to fully charge. With all cables and charges faults ruled out, my only guess is the fault lies in the phone. I don't think it is the USB port either. I believe it may be something to do with the software I cannot comprehend. But I currently don't have the time to reflash my ROM. This Resurrection remix ROM served well for the past year.
Currently, my amperage averages out to 350 mA. Sad. I wish someone with knowledge about this can reply to this thread. It seems this question has been lingering here for more than two years already. Are we the only ones who face this problem?
My Pixel is taking twice as long to charge as my Nexus 5X. Tried using supplied charger/cable and everything I use for my 5X(all from Google store). Anyone notice this? Pixel does say Charging Rapidly.
I have yet to charge mine via the included cables, just because I work a desk job in front of a computer, so, it's always trickle charging. I do notice it does take longer than my Nexus 6 did however, which I thought was unusual.
What is the Average time from 1-10% to full charge taken by pixel ?
I typically get from 8-10% to 100% in 50 minutes.
I was just about to post a thread about this as well. The charging is not fast. I'm using the OEM charger/cable that came with it, and I've used a couple different outlets at my office and at home. I'm sure as heck not getting 7 hours in 15 minutes (or whatever the commercial says).
At first I thought maybe it was due to the fact that the thing had hardly gotten below 50% since I received it as I was always charging it... so maybe it slowed the higher the battery %. So I let it drop down to 13%. I plugged it in to my wall with the oem charger/cable, set a timer for 15 minutes, and 15 minutes later it was at 28%. 53 minutes after that, it was at 83%, and I had to leave after that so I don't know how long it took from there to get to 100%.
I wouldn't call it slow, but it sure isn't very fast either, especially since it does indeed slow down a bit the higher the %.
Here is what I observed for quick charging. Readings taken approximately every 15 minutes. The break at 91% occurred because I unplugged and went on work break.
12:41 3% start charge
12:56 26% +23
1:13 54% +28
1:26 66% +12
1:41 79% +13
1:56 91% +12
2:32 91%
2:47 97% +6
I did a similar test yesterday. It definitely is taking longer than it should to charge. I also tired Ampere and it wouldn't calculate the charge rate

have to charge twice in day... heavy usage!
I'm not a heavy user, i do not use Whatsapp and Spotify all day, and I shut the phone off during the night. With the supplied 2 A charger it takes 2 hours to fully charge the phone from 0 to 100%, when powered off. On average, I only have to charge the phone every other day. I also bought a separate 1.2 A USB charger to take with me, and this off course charges slower.
This phone charges really fast (2 amps instead of 1.5) but it gets low battery really quick...
Takes 1.5h to charge from 10% to 90% with stock 2A/5V charger
It takes longer to charge using a 2.4A Anker charger then it does with the stock or Motorola 2A charger, i guess this phone is best tuned for 2A chargers.

i lost the stock charger.. currently using asus zenfone 2 stock charger which is 5v 2A or 9v 2A. it used to take 2hours20mini to 8-100 % in nogout 7.1.2 but in oreo beta it takes 3hours 20minit to get 8-100%... should i get the stock charger from Nokia care? is the stock charger available in Nokia care? or those are not like stock charger??
please help anyone.
Simple answer, I don't know dude.
I've only ever used the stock charger. I'm still on Nougat 7.1.2 and loving the current 72 build too much so I don't have any plans to jump on the Oreo beta yet. Also the increased amount of telemetry in the Oreo Beta, I would assume, contributes to a larger battery drain, which doesn’t make comparing Nougat to Oreo a fair comparison.
The stock charger and it's charging speed is nice, but it isn't anything really mind-blowing. My previous phone was the OnePlus 3T and with the dash charger I was pulling like 90% battery in ~30mins of charge time. That was fast. When you're dealing with the difference between a 2 hour and a 3 hour charge time personally I wouldn't really care enough to buy another charger, but yeah that's just me.
thanks

thank for your nice explanation. will you please let me know how much time the stock charger take to charge nokia 6 from 0-100 or 15-20 to 90/100 ..please i would love to hear from you.

Charging speed significantly improved after oreo stable.Feels like a 15-20% improvement.I will check with a timer and post exact timings soon.

I was in hurry, will upload 0 to hundred percent screens asap.
Purely anecdotal, but I don't feel that charging speed hasn't really changed from Android N to O.
0-90% is still around 2 hours charge time. 90-100% is like an extra 30 minutes to an hour.
What has noticeably changed though, for the better, is battery life. Oreo battery life and management is really nice.
As we all know, the charger xiaomi provided in the box does not support fast charging, although it is quite good. For fast charging we have to use different adapters or powerbanks that support it.
Yesterday when I was using my normal charger, it suddenly showed quick charge and two lightning symbols in the top right corner, which indicates fast charging, that I usually get when using my mi powerbank.
First I thought it was a software flaw but sure enough, my phone was charging at a much faster rate and was heating up similar to when I charge using powerbank.
Unfortunately when I removed the charger and reinserted it, the phone charges at it's normal rate, and I've been unsuccessfully trying to repeat it but it's not happening.
My device is completely unmodified, stock unrooted rom and bootloader locked.
I think this means that the normal adapter might be capable of fast charging but xiaomi has disabled it, something worth looking into.
Also I know the phone charges quite fast below 50%, I saw this effect while phone was at 69% and reached 72% in barely 3 minutes or something.
Unfortunately I did not have the presence of mind to take photos as proof.
first of all if you are using charger which comes in box with the phone, its not a fast charger its only 5V2A.
2nd it can't charge at pace compared to fast chargers as it can only provide 2A at max or it may be faulty
3rd it may be software bug just showing quick charge
and in the end you said it charged from 69 to 72 in 3 min. i can say its not fast charging because my charger 5V2A which came in box also charges at same speed you are saying. it normally takes around 1 min for 1% increase but depends on various factors like load being used currently by the phone.
sometimes when data is off or battery saver os on it charges more quickly as consumption is also less so it charges fast.
