[Bootloader Theme] Pixel Bootloader Theme - Nexus 5X Themes and Apps

Pixel Bootloader Theme
This bootloader theme makes your bootloader more Pixel-like. It changes the boot logo to a white, colourful one. And then I changed a bunch of other things, because why not make it look pretty.
Note: These aren't the official bootloader images from the Pixel. I haven't seen the bootloader for the Pixel, but I do know that the Pixel has a colourised Google logo.
Curious? Here are a few screenshots!

Boom! Much nicer, right? Here's how to get going, if you're still interested.
Flash bootloader BHZ10P. It has to be this version. If you have a newer version, custom boot logos don't seem to work. Everything seems to work fine when running 7.1.1 on this bootloader, so don't worry about it being old. Need the IMG file? https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24588232905720818
Download the variant of the bootloader theme that you want to use. These can all be found below.
Flash the image on your phone by doing
Code:
fastboot flash imgdata Boxes.img
(obviously, replaces Boxes.img if you downloaded a different one)
Optionally, install the Pixel boot animation found below by copying it to /system/media/bootanimation.zip. The boot animation and bootloader theme go perfectly together!
You're done. Now, was that so hard?
Because I love you guys, I've even taken the time to make a few variants of this theme! Here they are:
Boxes: The original. Verified Boot messages show in colourised boxes at the bottom of the screen.
Grey Boxes: Like Boxes, but the boxes are grey. If you couldn't figure that out, you should probably reconsider installing this.
Padlocks: Like Boxes, but instead of boxes, they're padlocks. Crazy, right?
Grey Padlocks: Notice a pattern emerging here?
Quiet: Just a Google logo. No more, no less.
All of these variants include the sexy bootloader menu. Everything you need's attached. Have fun!
Huuuuge thanks to bitdomo for their imgdata tool!

I tried flashing custom imgdata files on BHZ11P and they didn't seem to show up - they only worked on older bootloader versions. As far as I can tell, there's no downside to using an older bootloader, as everything still works perfectly.
Yep, if you want to return to stock, just reflash the bootloader (any version'll work), and the images will return to stock.

Genius. My bad.

Hey guys! Quick update - I'm currently working on some new variants for the bootloader theme. There'll be one with a black background + colourful Google logo, black background + white Google logo, and white background + grey Google logo. They'll all be up by the end of tonight.

Is there a way to change boot logo with the latest version of bootloader?

Using an older bootloader definitely isn't ideal, and I'm trying to figure out how to get this mod working on newer bootloader versions. In the meantime, you will have to downgrade your bootloader, but to re-iterate, I don't think there's any downside in doing this. Everything seems to work fine for me..

I'm a little scared about touching the bootloader..
(Just a guess) if there's a problem and i cant access the bootloader anymore, am i still able to flash the stock bootloader?

I was dumb and flashed this with BHZ11F and now my phone is stuck in the bootloader. When I click Start or Recovery Mode it just reboots back into the bootloader.

Can i flash the bootloader and the other images with twrp?????

How can i see my bootloader version?

HOW-TO: Get official Google ION Android 1.6 into HTC Magic 32B

Hi guys,
I wanted to get rid of the Vodafone crap that came with the official update to Android 1.6. So since I had an unrooted version of the ROM, I couldn't just delete the Vodafone applications. I did it the hard way, I replaced it with the official Google ION image from HTC!
How to do it? EASY!
1 - Download the "Recovery Image" from HTC: http://developer.htc.com/google-io-device.html
2 - Copy the .zip to the root of your SDCard but first rename it to update.zip
3 - Install Engineering SPL 2005 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529019 - this will allow you flash Google ION ROM directly with Amon_RA's recovery tool, which makes your HTC Magic 32B from now on a Google ION device!
4 - Download Amon_RA's recovery tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530492
5 - Get fastboot utility from here: http://developer.htc.com/adp.html and place it into the Android SDK/tools folder on your computer
6 - Follow the instructions by Amon_RA's to fastboot the recovery to your device, since you now have an Engineering SPL on your device!
7 - Apply the update.zip
That's it! It will flash the official Android 1.6 from HTC Google ION device, and what's cool is that it also supports OTA updates from HTC, which means you will probably get access to Android builds much faster that you did with the carriers and they will be striped from the crap applications they feed them with.
Questions? Shoot away
Edit:
To make it more fun, I got the splash image from Google ION device that was given on the 2009 Developer Conference.
Download the attached file, put your device into fastboot and then type:
fastboot flash splash1 /path/to/file/googleion.raw565
fastboot reboot
where /path/to/file is the path to where the file is
FAQ:
How do I gain root at this? - thanks to DOHCtor and caoboth
Put your phone back into fastboot mode (back and power button)
then fastboot amon_ra's fantastic recovery img.
e.g fastboot boot recovery.img
then run from your pc the following: (assuming of course you have the andriod sdk installed)
adb shell
mount /system
cd /system/bin
cat sh > su
chmod 4755 su
reboot
And now your sorted with a nice rooted phone

WARNING for people with 32B with perfect SPL's:
Applying the goldcard trick will only allow you to boot with the 32A version of the Amon_RA's recovery image, and before update the Google ION image you first need to revert back your phone into 32B (explained in "[How-To] Root and un-root the T-Mobile myTouch 3G").
Otherwise you will have a brick.

How do you take a screenshot on Android?
I might just do this, do not need any fancy stuff.
also when 2.0 comes will be able to flash htc version right away
does step 4 require ra's latest? cause i have a previous version
edit: just done this and works. for now i keep the official htc dev firmwares
I have recently updated my 1.5 magic firmware with official 1.6 firmware. I have not done any modifications to the phone i.e. rooting / unrooting...
Is it possible to use relentless rooter to apply this firmware... suppose i replace the root update.zip with the above and also replace the spl with the above spl?
then use relentless rooter to apply the rooting etc...?
2.0 just annouched, now lets wait till htc dev site is updated and we go 2.0 with this same trick
Hello
Thanks for this update

Kinda weird question. I actually have a Google Ion. Being new to all this flashing and stuff, I have flashed multiple roms over the past few months and never made a backup of the original. If I wanted to return the Ion to its original state would I just rename this recovery to "update.zip" and that would be it?

Thanks very much for your info and efforts ill have another go!
I've got a 32B voda/google device, and Amon's recovery 1.2.3 is running without any trouble.
I followed the following steps:
> formatted my SD
> renamed signed-google_ion-ota-14721.zip to update.zip and put it on the SD
> put the SD in my phone
> booted to recovery
> wiped
> applied update.zip
> it asked me to reboot, I did so
> installation continued, then switched to boot screen (says "hTC MAGIC").
It's been on the boot screen for about an hour. Did I screw up somewhere along the way or should I wait some more?
Edit: I guess I'm really screwed right now. After waiting for a bit longer my battery died (guess the process eats battery like it's cake). Now, after putting my phone on the charger, all I get is the boot screen. Doing this won't help either.
thanks but ill stick to cyanogens mods cause they look prettier and have more functinoality

I pulled the aboot.img and laf.img from 20e , bumped the stock lollipop boot.img using a guide i found in the g3 forums and packaged it with twrp 2.8.6.1.
I'm not super experienced or anything but this kind of stuff interests me so i learn as i go
That's pretty awesome. I was gonna try something similar, but I was afraid I was gonna brick my phone... I didn't think about bumping the boot.img at all, that was smart haha.

maybe try flashing blastagators twrp package for the 801 : http://blastagator.ddns.net/twrp/2-8-6-1.php
even though this is what i used in mine anyways, it's worth a shot. You will still be able to boot after flashing this since it is only recovery.

None of these logos work on my 1602. The phone just hangs at the logo and won't boot. I currently have a soft brick -- I can boot into the bootloader or, from the bootloader, into TWRP, but no further.
Much love to the OP. Worked like a charm on uscellular harpia cm13. Batman is so much better than unlocked bootloader warning.

Flash the logo.bin from logo.zip. Its the modified stock logo. They can easily find out unlocked bootloader by entering the fastboot mod.

Thanks for the quick reply...
As you might be using G4 Play, can you please let me know if there is any custom ROM in which lift to wake option works ?
I'm on ResurctionRemix but that doesn't works (I asked the question in that forum, but didn't got the reply so thought of moving back to stock rom)
In short I'm asking the functionality where in when we pick up the phone, it wakes up for 1-2 seconds in stock ROM
Thanks in advance bro (I know this is not the correct thread I'm asking, but please pardon me. Needed help)

Dark Pixel 2 Boot Animation With Dark Splash Logo?

Hello. I know that there are a few bootanimation.zip files floating around that will switch the boot animation to the dark version (black background), but I can't seem to find a solution to make the intro splash screen (white "Google" mark with small unlocked padlock logo) dark also. It would be really nice to have both. My phone is unlocked, TWRP recovery, and Magisk rooted. I don't mind waiting an extra 15 seconds or whatever for the unlocked bootloader warning, but I would really like to replace the white splash screen to something a little easier on the eyes.
Of note, I did find another thread seeking the same solution for P2XL: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/help/black-intro-splash-animation-t3714698
No real solution for them either.

Really frustrating at night when you have to restart and get blasted with that white screen. I'd like a dark pixel animation at least, if anyone has a link? I
Trying to fix the blinding spash image, I've posted in these two threads: [BOOTANIMATION] Pixel 2 Dark Bootanimation v2 (1080p 60fps) & [GUIDE] How to Change Boot Logo (Splash Screen) for Snapdragon Devices (splash.img)
Hopefully they can help us out.
If you all want to post requesting the same, maybe it'll help.
standard bootimage
Can someone please post the standard bootimage. I stupidly overwrote mine and didn't back it up

pretty sure the splash img is disabled in the bootloader for our devices due to security risks.. at least thats what it indicates digging through the bootloader

Maybe I'm not following correctly, though how would an image pose a security risk?

its not just an image, its an actual partition.. i assume bcuz it loads prior to other partitions? i dont know.. it specifically says in the bootloader code that its recommended to disable due to security hole/risk.. beyond that i do not know, i just know the partition is disabled so we cannot write to it..
i coukd be wrong so if someone else wants to disassemble the partitions in ida pro or somewhere then have at it lol
I couldn't even get the boot animation to change. Who has had success there?

If you follow the first link I put into post number 4, both switching the boot animation file and zip worked for me. It just starts with the blinding white screen then turns to whatever you're changing it to.

Thanks, but renaming didn't take effect. It's becoming clear that I somehow don't have write access to this file. How is that possible when I'm clearly unlocked, rooted with TWRP and magisk?

Which file are you replacing/editing?
/root/media/bootanimation.zip
OR
/root/system/media/bootanimation.zip
You should be working with the second one, not the first one.

Yup, only touched the second one. However, it doesn't get modified if I try to rename it or even delete it.

I realize this is approaching the one year mark......but has anyone come up with a solution??? or will we be forever stuck with the blinding white splash?!?
Honestly, I gave up.
It seems the beginning of the splash screen is in a partition. That starts the splash screen white, then to whatever you've switched it to.
Google really should make a true "dark mode" for oled phones. I doubt they will though.

Given the lack of Dev support, I suppose that helps explain the apathy with this issue - but you would have thought the XL folks would have solved it by now!
Minor inconvenience, yes, but annoying as hell none the less!

How To Guide [CLOSED] Bypass the region check in Lenovo p12 pro 12.6(CN version)

Having had a long research after I bricked my lenovo p12 pro 12.6(the CN version) ,I thought I finally figured out what is happening when boot ROW firmware on my tablet and a method to bypass such region check. Here is detail procedure:
First of all ,you DO NOT need to return your bricked tablet back to the seller or manufactures, any of which costs time and patience.
1、Download the super partition image file Mod edit: Links removed ,and extract super.img from it using 7z x ... command.
2、You can choose to use my bash shell script (flash_stock_firmware.sh)or your manual instructions: to flash the stock firmware
Bash:
bash 'flash_stock_firmware.sh' 'PATH/TO/THE/STOCK/FIRMWARE/FOLDER'
,it takes about 5 minutes to end.

After it booted to framework ,the init process will play a bootanimation ,in my case it shows :
This is exactly what we should to remove. And now you could reboot the tablet into fastboot mode
Code:
fastboot flash super PATH/TO/EXTRACTED/SUPER/IMAGE
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase metadata
fastboot reboot
In my case ,my tablet successfully launches the SetupWizard for registering device to google:
Wow fantastic work? Any chance you can elaborate anymore in your instructions for the more novice users? I've not used ADB before. When I tried and the tablet was broke ADB couldn't see the tablet where as QFIL could.
Does the boot loader have to be unlocked?
I'm still waiting for mine back from china but depending on the stability of the Global ROM I may move across.
Is the above doable only with ADB or can it also be done in QFIL?
Does the Global ROM successfully OTA for you or does it fail after download? Can you search from the settings menu?
Going forward are you able to use the Lenovo Recovery Centre to flash updates Global ROM's without having to do the steps above again?

That is some really good news, great work!

Thanks for updating download links.
Once these changes have been updated can we simply download and flash newer ROW ROM's?
How is your device performing, any glitches?

Thanks … but even the other website requests mobile number or email address to download.
Too much work and privacy exposure to take. I would wait for someone else to re-upload the file to a more straight forward user friendly site.
Meanwhile, what have you changed to the super.img to make it bypass the region check? Do you have the CN full firmware file?
On the other hand, with your fix, will the tablet update firmware OTA without any issues?
Thanks again.

So far so good, all works fine ,120hz refresh rate, precision 3 pencil ,precisicion keyboard, fast charging,etc...
There is a brand new ROM out today. Are you able to flash that now? Have you tried changing the region code via a hex editor?

Wow it seems you've cracked it even better than the Ali Express sellers. Most of the reports are that it can't OTA and the issue with the Settings search bar.
If mine ever clears Chinese customs (been stick there for 12days now) I'll get mine back and be able to play.
Ok I'm looking at your instructions.
The flashing of the stock firmware is the easy bit.
Once you do that you get the not compatible message as per your original instructions.
At this point the tablet is stuck in a screen similar to below. It does not matter which option you chose the tablet will reset back to the same screen.
What exactly do you do from this point to flash these instructions and your Super Image.
fastboot flash super PATH/TO/EXTRACTED/SUPER/IMAGE
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase metadata
fastboot reboot
If I try and run abd I get the following:
Sorry these are probably a no brainer with your capabilities but this is all quite new to me.
Basically I can see the tablet when Android is up and running but not from fastboot mode?

UPDATE... Fast boot commands do actually work. Even though it wont list devices commands like reboot work fine.
Did you have to unlock your bootloader for this? Have you kept widevine L1?
@ZTE AXON 7 you seem to be using Linux like me, mostly. I've used QFIL to flash the ROW ROMs but never did it from Linux. Do you have instructions on how to do that?
Oh wait, I reread your post. That script is for flashing the stock ROM, just like you said. Sorry about that.
Thank you for your work
I don't understand this very well. Do you have detailed operation steps?
