I've installed CM10 on my phone and the video player function of the Gallery app doesn't seem to support very many video formats. The manufacturer ROM (Sony Xperia Tipo ICS) could play lots of different kind of videos in the same default gallery app, which was very handy. Is there a way to install codecs on CM10 so that Gallery would use them? I don't particularly want to install another player, since otherwise the default Gallery already does what I want.
Another thing is that the Gallery doesn't seem to play the format that the video camera on the phone produces. Is that really the situation on stock CM10?
Oh, it seems that at least part of the problem is that the Gallery / Video Player / Camera is just flaky on this Free Xperia build of CM10. It's not an officially stable one. The video player can play at least video from the camera of the phone and mp4 files off the net, but it frequently refuses to or crashes.
