[Thought] SMG900P FM receiver, can it transmit? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

With Bluetooth, car connections, insane ways to connect your media devices to audio systems, I wonder if the integrated FM device within the sprint galaxy s5 can actually TRANSMIT an Fm signal on a certain frequency. There are cheap CVS and Walmart plug-ins and few apps that integrate outside purchased devices.
Does anyone know if an app is able to provide a signal transmitter on specific frequencies within the galaxy s5? Is the FM device only a receiver?

you need a transmiter 3.5 mm they sell ebay

Anything out to play Music on Phone thru Car Stereo?

I was just wandering if there is anything I could buy out here that would let me play my music stored on my phone through my car's stereo. I have a 2002 Honda Accord without bluetooth. So If there a cord or something (similar to like an Ipod adaptor used in car steroes).
Just wandering cause right now my Car's CD player isn't working properly and not really wanting to buy a new Radio for my car.

You got a Link to the 1 you use? And how's the quality....
If you gat an fm transmitter, get one with smart scan. Smart scan will find the best frequency and set it for you. It saves a lot of head ache and frustration

Link would be beautiful! I know what you talking about tho, because I had an original Ipod back in the early 2000's and the FM Transmiter was a headache with it.
Just use Y cable with audio out and plug into the aux in of the car stereo... that is what I do! I have a cradle (in my '97 Honda Civic 1.8VTi) and I set the phone with g-profile to automatically start/close Mortplayer when I plug it in/off... awesome!

I bought a Pioneer radio that will stream audio through Bluetooth. It's been one of the best things I have done to my truck. It syncs up for handsfree calls and audio.

Transmitter of any kind (bluetooth or FM)

I know the phone has a fm tuner in it. is there any way to transmit from the phone to say the radio in my car without having to use an adapter. I was asked at work today by a coworker if there is anyway to stream. I use tune in radio or pandora to listen to most of the music i like but i have not ever thought about trying to get the phone to output it to my car. This would be really cool if possible. Does anyone know if there is a way either harware or software to make it work?
Thanks,
Joe

As you note, it's an FM tuner, not a transmitter. I use the Bluetooth ADP profile to output audio to my car. If you don't have bluetooth builtin to your car stereo, but do have a line-in jack, you can use something like this to pick up the audio signal from your phone and transmit it to your car. I have one, and it sounds great!
thats what i thought but it never hurts to ask.
Thanks,
why not just use an AUX cable? seems to be the same concept and with out less static... those transmitters transfer alot of static too.
Im sure if your car has bluetooth A2DP streaming is available. i have it, but i just use the AUX less batter drain

The Bluetooth receiver I previously posted has always been static free.
but with an aux cable you get less battery drain and you use the hifi wolfson headphone amp/ultra low power audio codec (assuming you use the headphone jack and not the car dock which uses usb audio converted by a probably lesser codec/amp than the one the phone is equipped with)
also since when do we have an fm tuner? i dont see an fm radio app?

hmmm, that is the wifi chip. ok there might be potential as the chip works as a transmitter for wifi frequencies. but it may only work as a reciever on fm frequencies. it may be more plauible to use this as fm radio than the phones that have fm support in the gps chip though.
edit:
looked at the link and it describes is as a transciever, this might be posible, not sure if it is plausible. id imagine it would need a great kernel dev. without full documentation it is hard to tell if there needs to be supporting hardware like an external signal amplifier, i also doubt we have an fm antenna but it might not be too hard to add. but it does seem that we have atleast part of the equation here and the concept of an integrated fm transmitter for your car radio would be really cool.

Car dock for playing music, gps?

Whats the best cardock that I can play music from that also has a charger for my s3?
I don't know about a best dock, but a member recently mentioned that they like the iBOLT dock. YMMV.
Audio might also play over a BlueTooth connection, if your car's head unit is so equipped.

FM transmitters are either separate units or possibly built into docks - you don't need them for playing audio in the car if Bluetooth or direct cable connections suffice. FM transmitters can be subject to interference, of course.
Still, many FM transmitters come with generic connectors for Aux/Headphone ports to use with any phone or media player, such as some of the Belkin line.
iPhones do not have built-in FM transmitters, to my understanding.
- ooofest
My ipod dock has both. I ask because my car doesn't have blue tooth or an Aux cable. It's annoying lol.
FM transmitters suck........
A quick Google shows this dock as a possibility.
There's a Bluetooth-enabled, FM transmitter which also offers a USB port for simultaneous charging, if I understand the ad correctly.

Most of them are I actually bought a pretty reasonably priced after market car stereo so I can just use Bluetooth to play audio. Overall sound quality is really good! Of course, not the cheapest way to go
Man I would do that in a heartbeat. I don't think it's possible or easy to do it on my car

Car Audio Bluetooth?

Does anyone have a recommendation of a bluetooth audio receiver that would plug into my car's aux input? I looked at a few on Amazon, and none of them are fantastically reviewed. I like the idea of not having to plug in an audio cable.

-I had to dremel it a bit to make it fit into my radio's recessed aux jack.
-It takes several button presses to get it to connect every time I want to use it in my car
-As hands free phone, quality is hit and miss
-It has a non-standard power connection (3.5mm to USB?!?!)

If you can afford $50 then I recommend the Rocketfish bluetooth receiver.
Why? Because it's "APT-X" compatible which means your audio won't be severely compressed like normal bluetooth does. So the highs will be crystal sparkly and the lows will be harder hitting.
Note... you'll have to splice the AC power cord into a USB connector so you can power the device using a USB charger. Easy peasy.

I use this in my car: [edit - can't post links yet] Search Amazon for "HomeSpot NFC-enabled Bluetooth Audio Receiver for Sound System"
Bluetooth is a great convenience, minus the whole pairing part (especially if you use multiple bluetooth devices/receievers like me). The solution? NFC pairing. Tap your GS4 to the top the first time, it will ask if you want to pair, click yes. Everytime thereafter, no user intervention is required, just unlock phone and touch the top of the receiver. Paired.
Sound quality is sufficient for me, I don't notice much difference in it between my other BT devices, and it's priced lower then most other BT receivers that don't even have NFC pairing ($28), although you will need to supply your own cigarette lighter to usb power adapter.
I like it so much I bought 3 of them.
I use the Blackberry ones -- the older version was called "Blackberry Stereo Gateway", and the new model is called "Blackberry Music Gateway". Both work perfectly for car use -- they turn on when the car turns on, and they automatically pair up with my Motorola Photon 4G.
Many car radios have inputs for phone/navigation systems. The main benefit when using that input is that the radio automatically switch to that input when you are making- or receiving a call. I am using a Blaupunkt bluetooth kit myself, but I would probably get a kit from Parrot if I were to buy one today. Preinstalled car radios are usually both difficult and expensive to upgrade with a bluetooth system, but if you are able to program the head-unit and get a second hand bluetooth kit at eBay it "might" be an affordable solution. A troublesome bluetooth system, like most cheap kits probably ends up with, is probably less convenient than just using an earpiece when driving.
If you're just looking to stream music via bluetooth, then a bluetooth audio dongle will work. I bought this and it works great for over a year. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-3...luetooth_Adapters_Dongles&hash=item589b9646aa 3-4 hours per charge. You can also use it while it's charging.
I've been using the Belkin for almost a year now with the S3 and now the S4 and pretty happy with it.

My Maxima has an RCA Aux (yellow/white/red) port in the center console right next to the USB/Ipod input. I use a RCA to 3.5mm cable to plug the Tunlink into the car. Sorry I assumed since the Maxima and G25 were so similar they would have the same ports.
So, after reading some of these responses and thinking about it more, here's what I'd really like:
- Something that charges via USB.
- Something that will automatically power on when I start the car (i.e. when it starts charging) and automatically connect with my phone, but will not continue drawing power once the car is shut off.
- Not too crazy expensive.
The 1st and 3rd there are easy enough to determine. Any of the recommended products satisfy the 2nd item there?

[Q] play in car radio via USB?

Can the S6 be played through my car radio via USB? I don't have Bluetooth (or 3.5 mm) in my car and this is one of the reasons I've thought about switching to an iphone. I know this isn't possible with my Nexus 4 but I was wondering if Samsung has done anything about this.

I'm not 100% certain but I believe it still isn't possible even with the S6 to play music via a USB cable in your car. I'm not sure if you have a cassette slot in your car but you can get a cheap adapter for your cassette slot which gives you an aux input. They can be found quite cheap on amazon, maybe $15 or so.

Doesn't Samsung support USB mass storage? It should work
Sadly, a lot of the infotainment systems (that have USB ports) on cars are really optimized for iOS and not for Android.
eg. Toyota, Hyundai, KIA, VW, Benz, and many more. The systems on those brands usually only work with Android via 3.5mm audio jack or through Bluetooth.
Using a cassette adapter has OK sound quality, but it's not that great.
@ OP: It's unlikely that a Galaxy S6 will play its media through USB for your car.
This is Samsung's flagship android device??
This is a major disappointment.
With my S3 I was able to play music on my car's sound system via the USB cable but apparently this is impossible with the S6.
Another major downer is the inability to add additional storage.
