Hi there,
I attempted to root my Moto G3 (3rd Generation) by flashing TWRP recovery. Everything seemed to be going well and it said SuperSU had been installed successfully.
But then when I attempted to reboot system it remain on the 'Warning Bootloader Unlocked' screen and has been unchanged since then. I can still access Bootloader mode and Recovery by holding 'Power' and 'Volume Down' and the phone is still recognised on my computer but I can't access the phone itself.
I thought this might mean the phone is soft bricked so I flashed the Android OS firmware for my device using the manual method for Windows 10 on RootJunky's page. There appeared to be some results at first because the screen turned to black. But now the screen keeps periodically switching off and then back on to 'Warning Bootloader Unlocked'. The phone is also making small vibrating noises each time as if it is trying to reboot.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what has went wrong? I'm hoping that the phone can be restored back to normal since I can still access the files on my computer? If any anyone has any suggestions/solutions then it would be very much appreciated!
Try to download again and flash the firmware using mfastboot

Thanks, I tried this option but when I go to install SuperSU it no longer appears as a zip file on TWRP Recovery.
Do you know what causes this? Can it be down to how you format your SD card whether as internal or portable storage?
Also is it recommended to turn off all anti-virus software when rooting?
Thanks.

It's strangely , you can try to install from usb stick or try with another supersu file

I was using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078019 to unlock, install CWM, and then root. Unlocking was fine, installing that version of CWM seemed okay, but when I enter command "fastboot reboot", then hold down the volume - button after 3 seconds of the Moto logo showing, then pressing the volume + key, I get only 1 option....-->Android Recovery. I press the Volume + key, get "Entering Android Recovery Mode", and below that "Reading ODM Fuse 1", then the screen switches to an android with a yellow hazard sign in his tummy.
From that screen, if I press Volume + and power, I see:
Android system recovery <3e>
Use volume keys to highlight; power button to select.
reboot system now
apply update from USB drive
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
I don't get a choice to apply something from the microSD card I have installed with the WiFi_RootTool_3.1.zip I put on the card.
Has anyone had this happen? I can't ask in the development forum. I also just got the Xoom back from a repair, and it was wiped to stock, then I did the 3.1 update when I got it back this morning. Is the fuse thing something they may have done to block rooting?
Have you tried reformat your sd card?

I reformatted my sd card, but I still can't get CWM to work and boot into recovery. Same message-
-->Android Recovery
Entering Android Recovery Mode
Reading ODM fuse: 1
And that's it....no options to load the root zip from an SD card or anything. Is there a way to push root without using the SD card? Or is that ODM fuse thing making it impossible?

Nothing at all to do with CWM.
OP: Try flashing the recovery again. To get into recovery, type adb reboot recovery, or use an app such as Quick Boot.
Edit: You can't use CWM to root, you need to do that first.

I have to root first? I'm not sure how to do it....can't find any other methods of rooting 3.1....everything on Google just points me to the same method, using the SD card that won't work cuz I can't boot into recovery. Ugh.
Hey jump hour PM me.
Hey guys,
I called JumpHour and we tried to troubleshoot this over the phone. We aren't able to get into the recovery because of error "reading odm fuse: 1". The OP is using Windows 7 64 BIT and has the SDK installed properly. He updated the sources and installed them so those are up to date. We also verified that USB debugging was enabled and that the correct files were in the tools section in the SDK folder.
We ran the commands:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot-recovery ........ (we typed it in correctly accoriding the thread)
fastboot reboot
and we get that error message.
This was all initiated while the Xoom was powered on. JumpHour stated that he had to send his Xoom back to Moto because his Xoom got messed up during the re-locking process when he unrooted a one click root and re-locked.
We then went ahead and downloaded the recovery image again and replace the one in the tools folder. We ran the commands again and we were getting the same error.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on with this process? Are we missing something? Is something broken?
Get the official images. I am assuming you have a USA 3g or wifi model.
Follow the steps to return the device to stock. But do not issue the reclock bootloader command. There is no need to relock.
From there power up the device and turn on USB debugging.
Then adb reboot into recovery. That should bring you to the stock recovery.
If all goes well from here just do what ever else you where intending to do in the first place.
You most likely can just flash the stock recovery but I would just do a full flash back to official images minus relocking bootloader.

Then let the ota update it to 3.1 and so on.

What's the status JumpHour? Did you get it to work. I told you it may have been due to the images. Hopefully that fixes your issue. Take care dude.

Hi, thanks for the response. I'm gonna try it now. I was up REALLY late last night, and just got up a little while ago. I'll definately respond after I try it out.
Finally, I did it!
Okay, I fixed it finally. Reloaded the stock images, and it's now rooted with SD support. Yay! Only took 2 days!
Thanks for all your help guys.
Can reflashing with original images fix recovery mode mount problem?
Does any window is flashing to the original images can restore access to the sdcard IF the recovery mode in the official recovery mode (not CWM) says that you cannot mount the sdcard?
Hello,
I'm in need of some help. My little brother attempted to root and flash the tablet I gave him but he went wrong somewhere and we're unsure about how to fix it. He said he followed the guides here well but failed when he attempted to install the zip file (Something about a red X on the Android figure) it wouldn't allow him to. Currently the tablet only boots up in ClockworkMod Recovery and we can't seem to get Odin to install older Firmware since it won't recognize the tablet since it only reboots into the recovery screen or copy the file onto the external Sd since the computer won't recognize it as well.

Did he make a backup in cwm first? Try booting into recovery and selecting reboot and then download mode (Odin mode.) If that works, you can flash to stock jelly bean through Odin.

Try to take the SD card out and load software with pc directly to sd card (use an adapter if don't have a micro sd card slot , purchased with a micro sd card if necessary as any will work)

To enter the bootloader use Power + Volume Up
Then Odin should detect your device
Have you tried "factory reset" in recovery yet? Also as @rap3rman said you have to boot into DL mode before Odin will work. Try looking in tthe development section at the sticky posts for the everything thread and find a guide to help you along. 2 min of searching and you can find all kinds of good stuff here.

well iv'e got the 4.4.4 update for my moto g, the update stopped in the middle and then at text screen on the phone it's said the package as an error or something i guess and asked should it install untrusted zip so i did it and my phone was up again only to power off and on every half a minute.
so i want to to text screen((when you press POWER+volume down botton ) and chose the clock work recovery and the phone went back to work again as before with the kit kat 4.4.2 with no power off.
but yet again the device asked me to update to 4.4.4 and i'm an idiot so i did again, before end i cancelled the root on my phone(cause i thought the update stuck because the device is rooted) and let the update install itself again i got the text screen saying there is an error but now it would not let me install the untrusted zip cause i dont have root privileges, i tried to flash the phone with CWR and it said: "mismatched partition size (recovery)" i guess cause i flashed before end with CWR.
so i flashed my device with the TWRP recovery and did wipe (or installed the untrusted zip again, i don't remember) and the device once again was up again.
i again did the 4.4.4 update(yep i'm a idiot i know) and again it stuck, so i again tried to wipe via TWRP and reset the device, before i reset twrp said there is no asked me if it should install the supersu and pressed yes even though i used to towelroot.
now my phone when i turning it on, now its stuck on the screen in the image attached and wont start, if i press POWER+volume button for a few a seconds on the stuck screen i can access the text screen so i tried to flash it again with CWR and TWRP but it says "mismatched partition size (recovery)".
so the device stuck on the screen in the image and i cant flash it with TWRP or CWR, so i tried the recovery option in the text screen but it only shots down the phone.
is there any other recovery besides TWRP or CWR that i can flash my phone with? is there any other way besides flashing it there is not any other alternatives to those two flashes?

No.
And please use search. 'Mismatched partition size' has enough results to get you on your way. Flashing the stock rom from fastboot will probably be your solution, but have a look at similar problems that can be found on the forum.

Hello.
Today my oneplus one was suddenly stuck in bootloop. This happened in the middle of the day when I rebooted my phone. My phone was running the latest update that came OTA (stock lollipop). Whenever I boot my phone it starts loading and suddenly a Chrome (browser) window appears for 1 second and tries to load a website. Afterwards my lock screen pop ups for 1 seconds and it starts to reboot. During the lockscreen I tried to unlock my phone as soon as possible, but it just reboots. (Any ideas about this weird problem?)
I CAN boot it in recovery mode by holding volume-down button and power button.
I CAN boot it in fastboot mode by holding volume-up button and power button.
Perhaps a factory reset will do the trick, but I don't have a backup of my files (because this happened so suddenly without me trying to flash/customize my phone). My first priority is recovering my files, because most solutions will end up in me losing every file. Unfortunately I've found little possibility to do this during the bootloop problem. I've tried to flash TWRP because it could make backups of my phone. I tried it through ADB/Fastboot, but it failed because my device is not unlocked (I can't go to settings and put my phone in developer mode and debugging mode). So I've read somewhere that unlocking my phone (bootloader?) through ADB will wipe my phone, which is exactly what I don't want.
Also I've tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/fix-brickloop-audio-fx-fc-efs-corrupt-t2879061
But It also failed because my device was not unlocked.
Did I miss some steps somewhere or did I read something wrong?
Hopefully anybody has an idea to either fix the bootloop without losing my data, or finding a way to recover my files before wiping the phone.
Thank you.

Unfortunately you might be stuck in a catch-22 situation here. In order to access the files you'd need to unlock the bootloader, but in doing so you'd lose those files. Without usb debugging already enabled I can't see a way out of this.
Decided to unlock the bootloader through ADB. (bye bye data)
After I've unlocked it, I've tried installing TWRP.
Some minor problems occured but I can finally boot into TWRP through volume-down button + power button.
I've decided to download the stock ROM i've found on the OPO forums.
Couldn't acces my phone through normal methods, so I had to use ADB to push the files into my phone.
Installing the file through TWRP, wiped cache/dalvik and installed super user before rebooting.
After rebooting my phone is stuck on the boot screen now. (This also happened before I installed TWRP on my phone)
I've also tried this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541
Also no succes. I'm stuck in the bootscreen where it says 'cyanogen'.
EDIT: Managed to fix it eventually through: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/fix-brickloop-audio-fx-fc-efs-corrupt-t2879061 (part 2) writing the command in TWRP.
Phone finally boots normally again.

Hopefully the stock cyanogen OS.
First I've tried to flash cyanogenmod 12 through TWRP (file is found here: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/cm12s-yng1tas17l-installation-guide-review-change-log.304615/)
Afterwards I was still stuck in bootscreen, so I've looked for another solution.
Which made me find this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541
After flashing this file (probably the same thing) the problem still remained.
Eventually after multiple wipes/factory resets (which did not solve the problem) I've entered the command in TWRP and after reboot it finally worked again.
So I basically flashed my phone twice, once through TWRPS and the other through the batch file (perhaps ADB?).
Also no errors occured which stopped the flashing and commands. Did have to reinstall TWRP and reboot instantly in it by holding the volume down button multiple times. This doesnt happen anymore though.
Only had to install google apps for CM12 (gapps), for which I used TWRP in recovery mode.
Currently reinstalling most apps on my phone and no problems yet.
Hi, after trying unlock my bootloader, I couldn't get into recovery mode without "Your phone cannot be trusted" getting stuck on my screen.
I re-locked the boot loader but now when I go into recovery it says "Data Partition is corrupted please format" then it asks me to connect to a wifi network which then just shows errors everytime the password comes up.
I tried to turn on USB Debugging to ADB sideload a firmware, but I can't because the phone has been resetted; if I try to enter a wifi password the keyboard doesnt show it's just the google voice (which doesn't work) with no options. If i skip the wifi option it just goes on the google login and gets stuck on "Checking Info".
Any solutions to the problem please?
EDIT: I just re-unlocked the bootloader and now its permanently stuck on "Your device cannot be trusted, booting now" regardless of what buttons I press during startup
EDIT 2: I fixed it, it was long and complicated but I got it to work, here's how.
1. When flashing TWRP, I realized I was flashing the TWRP for EMUI 4, so I flashed TWRP for EMUI 5. (Make sure Bootloader is unlocked)
First have all the adb/fastboot drivers, for windows shift + right click the folder and click "Open Command here"
Make sure the twrp img file is in the same folder as the adb folder.
On the honor 8 phone, if it is stuck like mine, turn the phone off and then hold Volume Down + Power Button until the download mode is on the screen
Type "fastboot flash recovery (twrpfilename).img"
Once it's done, turn it off and then hold power button + volume up AND volume down at once till TWRP comes on
(Continuously hold it, if the "Your Device cannot be trusted" screen comes on release)
2. (Make sure internal storage and data are backed up externally for this)
Reset system, data, cache/dalvik, and internal storage
3. Download Update.zip and the second .zip from a website on google, search Honor 8 Manual Nougat and click the link from smartstocknews (I can't post links) but do not follow the steps from that website, and also download GAPPS from open GAPPS. Make sure ARM64 is selected and not ARM as well as 7.0
4. After wiping, mount the Honor 8 by connecting it via USB to a computer, and press "Mount" on TWRP
Upload the both update.zip and update_data_full_hw_eu.zip and GAPPS ARM64 7.0 to internal or external storage
5. Exit mount and go to install, install the zips in this specific order and do not reboot in between
A) Update.zip
B) Update_data_full_hw_eu.zip
C) GAPPS.zip
6. Reboot after GAPPS is done (it might show already installed, if that's the case then it's alright, reboot anyways)
Download the 70mb package for firmware downgrade and the latest marshmallow firmware from your regional huawei's website.
Extract the small package and put the .app file in a folder called dload on the SD card and insert it in your phone.
Boot by holding volume + volume - and pressing power, holding all 3 buttons until the phone vibrates.
The package will flash and afterwards you repeat the process, this time using an .app file from the full marshmallow firmware.
The 70mb package installs not matter how messed up your file system is, and makes your phone ready for the MM firmware. This process brings any brick back to life. Good luck.
I too was trying to root my FRD-L04 and apparently used the wrong TWRP because now I get...
Code:
Unable to open ' ' to wipe crypto key
Unable to wipe Data
Unable to format to remove encryption
Failed to mount /data (invalid argument)
and I cant get the keyboard loaded so I can log into my wifi when I do a factory reset. I really have no idea how best to attack this...my phone is bricked I can get into TWRP 3.0.2.0 recovery, sideload, and fastboot (i think). I am currently downloading the stock ROM for my device and will try to sideload it.
I feel I need to fix the data issues thought before trying to load the ROM as I dont think my data partition is working at all now. Does anyone have any suggestions or a step-by-step guide on how to fix my bricked phone?
I've tried all sort of things today but no matter what, I cant get a keyboard working so I guess that means I'm screwed....
EDIT - my phone doesnt have a insertable SD card so I cant fix things the way the above poster suggests.

This is truly one of the worse phones I have ever had when it comes to root and such. My frustration over what, for a unbranded unlocked phone that *should* probably SHIP with root, this phone has and is putting me through is super high.
That being said...so I flashed the new 3.1.0.0 recovery. Before doing that, I had just tried to Unbrick the phone with flashing B162 image with 3.0.3.0...so now the phone is totally frozen in the "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted..." screen. Nothing I seem to do can get it out of this mode.
I want to install the rooted b378 boot.img file I just downloaded, but am unable to find the button commands to get the bootloader loaded. Does anyone have any suggestions in somehow trying to save the day with this damned phone?
much thanks in advance.
EDIT: So I got the phone in bootloader mode by pressing vol up/vol down/power and inserting the usb cable...i flashed the rooted boot.img and twrp 3.1.0.1 to both recovery and recovery2 and now i can get into recovery. I feel like I may actually have a chance now to fix this damn thing...
So can anyone point me in a direction where, from this point with the new recovery loaded and the modded boot image installed, where i can get this phone working?? ill use ANY ROM it dont really matter at this point...
Don't worry. It's really easy, once you know what to do, just realy easy to screw up if you don't. If your phone is a mess just roll back to android 6 using the procedure i described above. Once your phone works, update to nougat and install twrp and root following this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/development/twrp-t3566563

Click to collapse
I pretty much have the same issue. No keyboard showing, just the stupid voice thing, and the Bootloader is Relocked. How did you get it fully unlocked. I can't get it. I guess let me get that resolved first (the bootloader) and I can try to go from there. Please help me.
UPDATE: Never mind I fixed it. I'm not really for sure how either but I think it mainly was just persistence.
Didn't work
Hello, so earlier today I tried to install RROS newest version in hope to get magisk/unrooting my phone because I'm addicted to snapchat and I rooted my phone with SuperSU earlier but didn't know u can't login to snapchat after that. It failed idk why, (I followed instructions very clearly and searched info from internet before doing that) causing me to brick my phone so when I booted it, it only showed black screen. After couple hours not finding way to get into twrp with my circumstances I managed to flash boot, recovery and system images, I tried to reboot and see what happens, (just in case, I kinda knew I didn't had ROM installed at the time, I also was hoping RROS to boot) nothing happened expect my phone got stuck in boot screen for booting EMUI, which was not installed obviously. Again after couple hours I stumbled to your post and managed to finally get myself into TWRP, I followed again ur instructions and everything was going fine, no erros, not anything. When Gapps was finished installing, I rebooted and again it just got stuck into booting screen. I did press and hold Power button, vol+, vol- and got myself into some kind of ROM installing screen, (hard to explain I don't exactly know what is name of it) and no it wasn't Huawei erecovery screen (Power button & Vol+ and no it didn't work me either saying that "getting package info failed") so in that ROM installing screen it just was stuck at 5% installing, and now I don't know what to do. My phone got locked again and I'm stuck at booting screen.
Note:
I don't have SD Card, should I get one and install stock rom?
Sorry for being kinda unclear but I'm tired it was 7 hours ago I got my phone bricked and have surfed on the web finding for answers ever since.
Also as you might notice, yes, I'm new to modding devices etc but still I'm not totally noob. Please help ASAP.
[SOLVED] So after hour of watching netflix as depressed teen I tried to reboot my phone again just in case, got stuck in booting screen. Then I held Power Button + Vol+ and got myself into EMUI stock recovery mode, I chose wipe cache partition and wipe data/factory reset, after that I rebooted my phone, it was stuck in booting screen for like 2 minutes but then it actually finished booting and now my phone is again functioning and god bless locked & unrooted.
