Could someone help me to make a Nougat kernel with UVC/webcam support? I have tried to change with menuconfig, but webcam related options was already checked. My daughter is really missing the nightly skype with grandma. Please help!

Hi,
I want to use Skype on my Zenithink ePad, but the mic does not work( I've also tried to record something with other Apps.). So there seems to be a problem with the Firmware. Could anyone help me to fix this?

I remember the mic working with Talking Tom Cat, but can't test it because my pad is in China for repairs. That was also an earlier firmware though.
You should put a link to this thread on the Zenithink ZT-180 ipad device ROM development thread so people can find it easier (before/if it goes into obscurity, update/edit the following post there)

I couldnt find any thread containing a solution for this problem. I created a new one on xdadevelopers, but it looks like it will sink into obscurity within the next hours. Is there a way to reinstall ALSA Driver on Android ? I'm am newbie to this OS

Yeah, I was able to use Gmail Voice Recorder app on the 0804 ROM, but with ROMs after that one would only work for a few seconds before system stalled or FC error. Haven't tried with the 0929 or CB's though.
Tom Cat works with CB's Image but only for a little time. I dont know the difference between Tom and other apps requiring the microphone but are not properly working. Is there a logfile where I can figure this out?
PS: I'm sorry for my bad english
I'd be interesting in a working mic too.
So many usefull apps need this: Skype, Fring, Soundhound, Voice recorder, etc.
Can anyone explain where to start?
Some kernel driver that sould be written?
I think configuration of the ALSA Driver is not correct. If you look at the log (via adb catlog) during the boot process you will see that there are some errors that occur. Some of them refer to a control (or mixer - I forgot) named "AndroidCapture" but i dont know where it is defined (I only know asound.conf in /system/etc/ and as I understood sound should be working without this file). But there seems to be another problem: If one starts Tom Cat and it crashes after a few seconds, the log says that there is some problem with "obtainBuffer" (some other android phones have the problem too)
Can this mic problem be fixed from us or should we write to Zenithink about this?
If you think about how much better the Image of CB is, I'm not sure that Zenithink will fix it quicker or better than the people here will do. But writing to ZT cant be bad
I've found something on the web:
http://code.google.com/p/0xdroid/issues/detail?id=10
I downloaded ALSA Driver files but I dont know where the file "AudioHardwareInterface.cpp" is (It's a file of the driver source code, isnt it ?). Anyone there who can tell me where to find this file and know how to fix the microphone issue with it?

Interesting.
The file can be used to compile a driver, but you will need to compile for ARM and with the proper options to get a working driver, which seems to be a bit problematic because of Zenthink not releasing the source.
Does anyone know a way to debug this problem?
Does anyone know how to compile drivers for the current kernel in 929?
So the mic is working on the 1030 ROM, but there is too much noise, anyway to fix that now?
Anyone know how to fix the noise in the mic?
i would like to use mic.
with fring and skype.
anyone has tried the latest rom with the mic?
is there any other rom apart the one 11.1.2010
On the MIUI rom the in call - call recording option is greyed out.
A bit of googling gave me that it was disabled or that it required a kernel that supports 2wcr. Dunno which is the problem for the miui rom.
There is an app in the market that does the same but cannot try it as its a paid app.
Is there any kernel that make this work? or is there any workaround for this?
Please someone throw some light on this topic as none of the kernel threads have any mention of 2wcr and i could'nt find any previous discussion specific to Nexus S...
Hi everyone,
I just tryed to install the samsung NX app to my GT7+ but from market it keep saying my device it's not compatible, it maybe for some regional settings or I don't know what, can anyone else try it or send me somehow the apk to try it myself (it's a free app so I don't think I'm asking something against roules).
Thanks
Rico
I answer to myself, the developer said they are still developing official APP for our tablet because it's HTML5 and they have to change resolutions from the tab10 version

hi all,
basically i have a justop android tv box, but the remote that comes with it isn't great for controlling an android desktop, so i want to control from my sg3 or nexus 10.
is there such an app?
i tried droidmote, but can't seem to get it to work
thx!
DroidMote can work on all android, windows and linux devices.
But for Android you must use the version from google play

I have had a look, but I'm thinking it's a little beyond me! Anyone know how to fix this?
Hi all,
So far I‘ve tried whatsapp, skype with disappointing results.
have anyone managed to have a decent video call on this tablet?
I don't have mine at the moment. Will tell you later next montr if you can wait.
But what do you mean by "disappointing results so far"? And did you try an other app such as Jitsi?
Audio is ok, video not so much. I only use skype and whatsapp, did not try something else

First of all this is a question and should go in question and troubleshooting forum. Why don't you try zoom ?????? Which android version are you on ????
the android version is 4.1.2. Zoom is not used by anyone I know.

Brother I use three video calling apps : zoom, Cisco webex, Google meet and I always think in terms of features and quality, zoom is the best out there. Anyway you can't install any of these apps on android 4.1.2, you will have to upgrade to android 6 minimum.
Thank you very much for your detailed reply!
I use Zoom regularly on Unlegacy's android 7 ROM. It works great, but I can't use Bluetooth headsets due to a bug in most of the roms out there. I'm currently trying to solve the bug, if you can try it and tell me how headsets are working for you during a videocall, that would be great!
