Voice Input problem with Gear S2 Classic, Please Help! - Samsung Gear S2

Hi. I've recently purchased Gear S2 Classic, updated to the latest firmware and smartphone apps/plugin/service.
I am facing a strange problem with voice recognition. S-Voice App on the watch works 100% perfectly, and can easily recognize and transcript my voice. However, in all other apps, when I try to use voice input (like when I reply to a message), nothing happens! as if I am not even talking. The problem also happens in Voice Memo app on the watch, where I can record my voice but the option to convert my voice to text doesn't work. I checked the audio recording quality on my smartphone and it was fine and clear. The watch's microphone is working alright, but for some reason anything except S Voice App cannot use voice-to-text input.
To recap: The problem is NOT S-Voice. it's voice input (which may rely on S-Voice, I know). But S-Voice app itself on the watch is working just fine all the time. My issue is limited to using voice input (voice-to-text) in other apps.
As for the internet connection. I tried both 4G and WiFi (24Mbps broadband), through Bluetooth and also directly connected the watch to home WiFi.
Any idea? Please Help!
My devices info:
Gear S2 Classic: firmware DPFB / Language: English UK

I bought my watch just 2 weeks ago, so I can and will still get the support from Samsung. I've got a phone call scheduled on Monday regarding this issue with the tech department of Samsung ... pray to God I get to phone with someone who knows what he's doing ...
I'll keep you guys up-to-date.

I fixed mine this morning by going into application manager on phone and deleting the data on the S-voice application. Try that.

Hmmm, I got my Gear S2 connected to a Sony Xperia Z2, so I don't have S-Voice installed on that :crying:

oh...hope you find a fix soon.
long shot but how about clearing the cache on the gear apps on phone?
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Same here. Worked in the beginning then stopped. Sent an e-mail to Samsung support but no reply yet. Speech-to-text-recognition on the Gear should be independent from S-voice app on phone, no? I had the latter disabled already when speech to text still worked with the Gear.

you could well be right and it was just a coincidence...just glad mine's sprung back into life.

Tried that already, but that only makes me reconnect everything ... so no improvement by that.

I also contacted Samsung support online and in person, and they told me it's possibly permissions-related (on the watch) and can only be fixed by an upcoming firmware update. However, their final definitive answer is still pending. They promised to contact me within a couple of days.

Hey,
I've recently talked to a Samsung tech and he said that this problem was a general issue with the Gear S2 at the moment (apparently server-related). There is no fix at the moment and they can't do anything. They've forwarded the problem (since it is already known) to the guys in Korea and they have to resolve this issue somehow, either with a software update or some server fix.
He furthermore told me that they don't even get noticed, whenever the Korean guys fix a problem, so I should just keep on trying the feature now and then.
Let's just hope, they won't take long
Update (2016-10-13): Works like a charm now, they seem to have fixed it.

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to let you know that Voice Input (STT) on my Gear S2 is now working again. I didn't do anything at all. I guess it was, in fact, a server-side issue that has now been resolved.
Let's know if it is working for you too.
Thanks to everyone for your contribution!

I'm hoping someone has come up with a solution. I've been experiencing this same issue for the past couple of weeks with my Gear S2. I've cleared out the cache history and I've even reverted to factory reset on the watch. Still, nothing. HELP!

I have a same priblem.. but even by cleare the cash nothing happend. It doesn't work yet.

Same here I have tried everything and it is so frustrating! One of the main reasons why I have a smartwatch is to be able to voice reply to messages.
Anybody found a solution yet?

Yahoo messenger voice & video calling plugin

Is there anyone here who has managed their yahoo messenger voice and video calling plugin work on GT2 P5100? Is there any available fix to this issue at the moment? Any help would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks in advance!
I sideloaded it on my p3113, and the camera is sideways, but it does make calls and connect. You can see the other persons cam. I have had reports that audio cuts in and out.
Hope that helps.

tnx for sharing. I have had that issue before with my previous tab10.1 P7500. messenger works with video calling but image is sideways, but if you flip your cam the return it back using the front cam, your image will appear normal. ( i mean vertical, not sideways anymore). That is why I am really disappointed for replacing the old tab 10.1 with the new tab 2, even skype's video calling wont work. at least the OG tab video calling works. I just wish they could release a new plugin or fix soon for the video calling coz its making samsung's reputation really bad....

Yah, it looks like they released the device without testing for compatible apps for video and voice calling. even skype's video calling doesnt work either. they should start fixing these issues coz its already been months since the release of tab 2 and if this would take longer before it could be fixed, it could really give samsung a really bad impression to consumers. besides, they just won their case over apple, right?
salungat....can you tell me where you got the information from?
My customer has a custom app that uses the camera to take pictures and insert the pictures into a form for reporting purposes (home inspection app).
He is having all kinds of issues with the camera. Today, SAMSUNG support told him that, the "tablet was not designed to be used by an app that controls the camera".
This is complete BS in my opinion but I need more info to fire back at their support.
Thanks...

Hi guys, I just noticed that I've been logged out of this app and can't log back in despite my phone being logged in. I tried to log back in but it doesn't let me. Maybe Twitter needs you to authorize the app to log in on your behalf. I know it was using oauth since a while back.
Mine has been working fine since I logged in a month ago.

A new update is out in the Play Store, this fixed my issue. Latest version is 1.2.1 :good:
Just installed the Twitter extension. Seems to work, though curious as to what it will be like from a Notifications POV. I used to be more acive on Twitter in the past, so I have lots of people and companies I follow. Interested to see if I end up greatly reducing that number, or removing altogether. But it is a nice looking extension.

Hello

I have uninstalled and installed the app number of times but doesnt work

Nexus 6p Compatibility

Hi. I've read a couple articles from a couple months ago that said there were issues pairing the Gear S2 to the Nexus 6p due to encryption. Is this still an issue?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
this issue was solved ,the gear S2 now works with the 6P
Is this definitely fixed? I can't find anything official via Google and this one post is the only mention that the issue has been resolved.
If the issue with encryption has been fixed, has the notification issue also been fixed? I recall there being problems with notifications being pushed to the watch.
Hi can anyone verify this?

Did you unencrypt your phone? I flashed Chroma and unencrypted my Nexus 6 in order to get my Gear S2 to work. I tried it on stock rooted but could not get the update to download. Everything is working great now that I'm on Chroma ROM.
Now that I look at it, my phone has been unencrypted but forgot about doing it. I am running the normal 6.0 but I am rooted. I do have some Bluetooth issues though.
Not really sure if an issue but when ever I answer my phone it defaults to the watch, anyway to change that?
I have a Nexus 6, completely stock and running 6.0, that pairs perfectly fine with my gear s2. The only issue I see is that since it isn't a Samsung phone, I do not have access to all available apps for the s2. I've been looking around for a way to have access to them in order to install to my watch, but I haven't found anything definitive yet. Biggest thing I can't find is how to install Milk music to the watch (i've been able to sideload it onto my phone).

Go to settings, Bluetooth, click on the icon next to your gear s2, and uncheck phone audio. Then it will default to the handset earpiece / Bluetooth headset
Only issue I have is not being able to transfer music from my Nexus 6 (rooted running latest chroma) to the gear s2. The gear app doesn't recognize my "0/music" folder. Any suggestions other than painfully transferring single tracks at a time through filemaster?

Are you running chroma lollipop or marshmallow? Am thinking about getting the watch too but am running purenexus marshmallow. Is all the notification working on the nexus 6? Thanks
I'm running chroma marshmallow latest version. I get all of my notifications, only issue is a Nexus issue on how the internal storage route is interpreted by the Sammy software.
No, Samsung Gear S2 is not compatible with Nexus 6P. Its compatible with Nexus 5 and some lists of other smartphone devices. It is officially declare by samsung in their website. Here i will give you the screenshot of compatible devices list.

I've had the Samsung Gear S2 classic for several months now, working perfectly with LGG2. Got a new Nexus 6P (Android 6.0.1) a week ago, did all OS updates and security updates and installed the Gear S2 app. It would pair and connect to my Gear S2 just fine but as soon as open the app and try to click on anything (e.g. watch faces, notifications, apps layout, etc...) it opens for 1s and closes again. I've tried repairing, reinstalling, resetting....re-anything but no luck. I have not tried turning off encryption yet but at this point the watch is unusable without the app. Very disappointing!

Ok...I fixed it. Just in case somebody was having the same issue. No rooting or ROM flashing necessary.
All I did was add "Google App" back into the list of apps that are allowed to send notifications to the Gear S2. I'm not entirely sure why this is related to notifications but I'm assuming since the OS needs to communicate with the watch to get all settings to display in the Gear app, that "Google App" is kind of synonymous for "anything Android" and should therefore always be left "on" in Gear app notifications.
I hope this helps somebody.
Cheers,
Mike

Try to pair the phone to the watch using the Samsung Gear app first, do not pair the watch to the phone under Bluetooth connections.
Also, there are files that many people remove when they are trying to lighten up roms. Your best bet is to backup your current Rom and flash a pure stock Rom. If you can't get things connected that way, you know it's a device compatibility issue

You may be able to do that with Task2 on the S2 and Tasker running on your phone. I use Task2 to set my phone on vibrate and to do some other things with it.

Same here - can not find and install HERE wego (running Samsung Gear S app on iPhone). Got mine Gear S3 few days ago (seems Polish/Poland version, without LTE).
I'm from Brazil and here the app also disappeared from the store.
Same here! Used the Gear S3 + Here Maps successfully on my S8 for one day and yesterday switched to OnePlus 5T where Here We Go is not listed... Now thinking about ditching the GS3 for a Huawei Watch or something like that... Not reasonable.
Seems it might be limited to Samsung phones only.

Not a solution but let me share my experience on this.
I live in Saudi currently and my watch is on OXA CSC. I had Here app installed. I went to India on vacation and changed the SIM card in the phone also did a reset of the watch. After this noticed that Here app was not visible in the App Store. I returned to Saudi and changed back to my old SIM. Now I can see the app and installed it again.
So it may be region specific. I have a Nexus 6p.
Same issue here, no solution found yet.
Well.. i had the same issue after resetting my watch. i used to have it installed before so i went into the gear app and then into the samsung galaxy apps-> menu -> my apps -> all.. and there it showed up... Could install it without any problems.

Due to restriction of Samsung, the Here we Go app isn't available for non-samsung phones. @Chainsaw Enduro was very helpful in giving me the wgt file.
Download:
goo.gl/75axzA
See here for installinstruction: https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/themes/swimming-apps-samsung-gear-s3-t3750444/post75687360
Big thanks to @Chainsaw Enduro
The only downside so far: the app on the watch can't retrieve Internet via Bluetooth, so it needs wifi (or hotspot) for initializing the route/download the map.
Thanks @halloarno
The instructions on the link didn't work for me. Here is what I needed to do:
1) Download SDB from Samsung at https://developer.tizen.org/ko/deve...nning-and-testing-your-app/sdb?langredirect=1
You will need Java SDK 8
2) Connect watch via wifi with debugging mode enabled
3) Use the following commands via the command line:
sdb connect xxx.xxx.xxx (IP address of watch)
sdb install wego.wgt
4) I kept getting the following error:
* The version of SDB client (2.3.8) and server (2.3.0) are different.
This may cause version compatibility problems.
It is recommended to use SDB server 2.3.8. *
But it still worked
