Yes, It´s really true, at least with a NOTE 3 and MM ROM, if you go out of BT coverage then they will not connect by itself anymore, you need to go to gear manager and connect it manually by press "connect". This do gear G2 totally useless because if you forget to do the manual reconnection you'll miss all the notifications. It´s sad...
I have a Nexus 5 with MM 6.0.1 and it works fine!

Alright people: I don't know, if this is the right place, but I'll just post here...
So I recieved this last week and tried it out immediately... But: it doesn't work properly. I got it to work for 2 seconds but then the TV always says 'no signal'... I tried it on 2 different TVs but it's the same on both. It also doesn't work on my nexus 7 (2012) stock, rooted and also not on a complete stock nexus 7 (2012). So I want to know, if i need to enable something of if it is a hardware bug and also if anyone else has this problem.
Thanks to u guys who help me

Mmh i don't know personally, but i have at home an MHL cable i want to know if i can mod the cable to work on Nexus 5

Mhl is not compatible with any new Nexus devices: it's used by Samsung only so it will work with the Galaxy Nexus.
Slimport adaptors are compatible with Nexus 4, 5 and 7 (2013 only), so its normal that you can't get your 2012 nexus 7 to work.
Instead, it should be perfectly working with a Nexus 5, since no previous configuration is required.
In my case, the first time I connected my N5 to my HDTV via Slimport adaptor it took about ten seconds to see the home screen of my phone, but since then, it has always worked just after connecting it.

I didn't have to wait very long to get an image, it usually takes no more than 2-3 seconds. Maybe the adapter is defective?
Here's a demo showing slimport on a nexus 5:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnR3KofhVMA&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I always have an issue when connecting my gf's S4 to her TV via an MHL adapter. I have to make sure the connections are tight and eliminate alot of movement, PITA!
But I guess just give everything a good push, make sure connections are really good and lay it on a flat surface to see if movement is affecting the connection. The adapter your using might be flimsy too
What's new and will the firmware R732XXU2CPC5 support the iPhone?
http://www.sammobile.com/2016/03/31/samsung-gear-s2-gets-another-software-update/
Brings the same features as R732XXU2CPB7, and I've just tested, it does NOT support the iPhone.
Anyway to download the firmware for wireless odin? I can't update through gear manager since downgrading to use with an iPhone? I got a s7 edge just for this and I'm stuck on "your Gear has been modified and cannot be updated". Thanks
I have not seen the first one. My Gear S2 sport is on R720XXU2BPA4

Updated to CPC5 here in Canada (west coast) on 11 Apr 16. New auto brightness and airplane mode. Maybe more. Will test as time permits.
Received CPC5 update on Gear S2 Classic (wifi) today in Virginia/USA.
I initiated the update manually, so don't know when it actually became available....
Does anyone have the ODIN Flashable Package for this R732XXU2CPC5 Update ?
Got the R732XXU2CPC5 around 2:00 am today by manually checking for update. I'm in Northern VA
I got mine last night by manually updating. I'm in Georgia.
I installed Samsung gear app on iphone and it says NO GEAR DEVICES. App says to update gear software. My version software on samsung gear s2 is: R720XXU2BOKK. Version: KNOX. I will try to update it with a samsung mobile and then I will come back to the iphone and try it.
Just to give more information, my girfriend has a Samsung gear s2 too and she has version software: R720XXU2AOJ3. Version: KNOXX. She is able to pair the iphone with her samsung gear s2 without the application, just as a bluetooth device. I was able to do it as well but I made a big mistake of pairing it with a samsung mobile and I updated the software of the samsung gear s2, then came back to my iphone and the Iphone didn't find samsung gear S2.
Still doesn't fix the "always on isn't always on" problem. (When you enable display always on, it goes completely blank after a while and needs a button press to get back).
Wow, the auto brighness is effing stupid.
Before, I had always on screen and outside, I could tolerate brightness of 3, and could see al lof my watch faces and notifications.
Now the damn thing is always at its highest and blows through 80% in less than 12 hours.
ANd I dont even check it as often anymore.
Just give me a damn off button for auto brightness, god.

I had this problem, too.
Did you set the Gear S2 already back to factory settings? Afterwards my iPhone found the Gear and started working with the app.

Yes sir! I've done it and now it's working! Thank you !
Having tried manual updates many times it (SM-R732) finally updated automatically today. I don't notice much difference on the auto-brightness, maybe because I have the brightness set pretty low (3)? Still good to have the addition of Flight Mode.
I just got my watch today, but it is not able to connect to my Tab S 8.4 LTE... The Gear manager in my tablet cannot find the watch even though it is right next to it. I tried to reboot both devices and turn the Bluetooth off and on, and nothing works. Really Samsung, not even compatible with your own galaxy devices?

This really sucks... My note 4 broke and I didn't want to buy a phone because I have a tablet that can take calls and want to wait for the S8 and the Note 8 next year...

The watch will work with every phone with 1.5 gb of ram and android 4.4 and up. I'm sure you will find a second hand S5 for 100 $ to use it for 3 or 4 months. Then resell it.

Yea, that is probably what I should do now. Good advice, thanks.
I'm in the same boat as you. My primary phone is (and will continue to be) a Tab A with telephony. It won't work with the S3, so I picked up a cheap Android that lives in my desk drawer and is only used on occasions when the watch needs to be paired with a phone.
I run a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and i had to buy a used Samsung Galaxy S4 mini to pair and configure my Gear S3. What a pity !
Hi!
Any updates on this?
I spent last couple of days trying to pair Gear S3 with Tab 8.4 Pro (SM-T325) running stock kitkat 4.4 - no luck (((
It's such a shame that Samsung doesn't even make an attemp to make their own devices compatible with each other. Was a big surprise for me.
So, did anybody manage to couple Gear S3 with any tablet? If yes, how did you do it?
I got my Samsung Gear 2 (Camera + IR) watch when I had my Note 4. I sold my Note 4 hoping to use the Gear 2 on a non-Samsung Android phone but was bitterly disappointed. I was told the Gear 2 needed to be paired with a Samsung Phone.
I still like the Gear 2 because of the Camera & IR. I am upgrading to a Note8 soon. I just want to confirm that the Gear 2 works with the Note8, else I will probably add a smart watch to my order (I hope to just keep the Gear 2).
Anyone successfully paired and using the Gear 2 with the Note8 and getting notifications on the watch?
Thanks in advance for your response!
Yes, my Gear 2 (flashed to run Tizen) works with my T-Mobile branded Note 8. Pictures taken with the Gear 2 upload automatically to the Note 8. I'm not sure what you may be referring to by "IR." The watch and phone pair with Bluetooth and there is no Infrared on the Note 8. Let me know what you're after and I see what I can find.
IR refers to the Infra Red remote control on the Watch. I have stock Tizen running on my Gear 2 so I want to use the Infra Red remote on the watch.
I see my local phone stores have the Note8 on display for customers to demo. I will carry the watch to the store and see if it could pair successfully to their Notes and I can see notifications. Hopefully I can signin to my Samsung Account from the demo phones in the store... and hopefully I can remove everything after.
Yes, I had forgotten about the IR function and app on the Gear 2 as I don't use it. The Note 8 does not have any IR functionality, but I can't imagine that the Note 8 will in anyway interfere with that functionality on the Gear 2.
Yes, the Gear 2 is dated. However, it's the camera and it's convenience (especially when traveling) that keeps me hanging on to it!
I have the Gear 2 and the Note 8 phone, and can say they do pair just fine. Most of the watches functionality works as normal, but since the Note 8 phone has Bixby, and not S voice, no voice input on the watch works at all. This is just Samsung abandoning their tech like always, because the S2, and S3 got updated to work with S voice onboard the watch, because of the lack of the app on the phone.
I have a rooted gear 2 that I had been using with my LG G4, I just got an unlocked Note 8 and I have been having trouble pairing it. I've been trying to do it through the Android Wear app, should I reset it and try again through the Samsung software?

Not sure if you're running Android or Tizen. I upgraded to Tizen when it became available from Samsung.
Never tried to pair with the Android Wear app. However, when you pair the watch with a new phone you have no choice but to factory reset the watch.

I'm using Tizen, however my phone doesn't see the watch at all and neither does the gear 2 see the note.
Here's what worked for me:
1. Install the Samsung Gear app on the Note 8
2. Enable Bluetooth on the Note 8
3. Startup the Gear app on the Note 8 and begin the pairing process by selecting "Connect new Gear"
4. Factory reset the Gear 2 and wait for it to finish resetting.
5. You may need to restart the pairing process in the Note 8 Gear app if it takes too long.
Good luck.
On the Galaxy Smartwatch page, the Mi Mix 3 is not listed as one of the supported devices. Is there anyone that would be able to either confirm or deny the ability of these two devices functioning together?
Hi mate. I use Galaxy S3 Frontier from day one whitout any problem. I think any Samsung smartwatch can be paired with Mi Mix 3 and get full working.

On my s3 frontier it keeps disconnecting as soon as i clean the ram. Otherwise it works like a charm.
Activate autostart for all samsung gear apks and the watch reconnected automatic after cleaning RAM.
