battery not showing correct capacity - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So this is my issue, the battery percentage seems to fluctuate badly, there will be one instance where it will charge till 75% and then stop charging and it will say like 1 minute till full charge then never go beyond 75%.
Another instance is the battery will go down really quickly to 1% then it will operate on 1% for like upto 2 hours and then shut down finally.
Things I've done so far.
Changed rom clean flash, wiped caches, flashed stock in odin.
The only thing now is my bootloader is from an older firmware than the rom firmware currently installed which is cas rom.
Any insight or help would be great full. Thank you

Bump, does this sound like a hardware battery issue?

I would simply first try another cable and also wall adaper. If this doesnt change anything, make a backup and go FULL stock. Not just flashing some oartitions, but your last stock ROM completely. If this doesn't make a change, then it probably is your battery, that is faulty. Try to have Samsung exchange it then. I just hope that we won't have similar problems, as the Note and S7 ppl.

Boot-Loop

I'm running on CyanogenMod 10.1 , and out of nowhere, after using the phone for around 10 minutes, it loses all the signal, shuts down and starts boot looping for no reason at all, is there any way to fix this?
The only way i can get the phone to turn on is by removing the battery and letting it sit over night, or by placing it in the freezer for some minutes <.<
Maybe your battery died? How old is it? Is the problem only in this rom?

I've had the problem with a previous ROM, it is roughly one year old, and how can i check if the battery is damaged? Also, in the last couple of days it happens for no reason, even when im not touching the phone, it loses the signal and goes into boot-loop
Tell me how long your battery charge from about 10% to full?
10% to 80% charge faster than 80% to 100%?
When your battery full charge. Shutdown and remove it. Install battery again turn on. Will it drop power about 5 to 10%?

No, the battery doesn't drop back down to 10%, and it sometimes take like an hour? maybe less from 10-20% to full charge

i agree, its probably your battery. buy an anker one much better than stock. but i do feel the need to mention that putting your mobile phone in the freezer for any length is very very very dangerous and can leave your device very FUBAR

it is a htc common issue after rooting the device
no one has found a solution yet
also if you reboot the device while charging it it will jump to a higher percentage of charge
edit:but mazune in your situation i think you have a problem with your battery(shuts down, booloops, loosing signal etc...)

give a try with different roms and kernels to see
if the issue persists probably it is a hardware problem
Any rom you would recommend? Also, which way is the most efficient to delete the rom etc without leaving anything, I read that my problems could also be caused by a bad recovery/rom install

Strange battery issue

Seems like about two or three weeks ago, just before moving to mf1, I started noticing my phone, while on the charger would not charge positive. It will actually loose battery, even though its plugged in. I have tried multiple chargers, and bought a new battery, but still the same. After a brand new flash, like what I'm on now which is Hyperdrive, it seems to charge initially, then within a few hours of use, it goes the other way. It won't get over 79% even when left on charge overnight. I am considering odining back to stock unless there might be a fix for this. Its almost like the charging drivers are screwed u. When I power the phone off, and try to plug in the charger, no battery symbol shows like it use to, and it just vibrates intermittently. I have to unplug it and power it back on for it to charge.. any help on this would be great.

Try stock for a few days and see if the problem persist! i would say you probably have a defective battery..I had the issue where the phone would die at full charge and never turn on again and then after a few days the battery would work again..I called Samsung and told them about my problem and they will replaced it for me
I think it's related to the mf1 rpm that is screwed up. My battery tends to hang around 23 percent and will take forever to charge, but in reality it's the reporting that is wrong but your battery is actually charging.

Battery issues

Over the time that I've owned my GS3, I've finally began to notice that it takes longer and longer to charge my S3 and it discharges pretty quickly too. Anyone have a solution to this?
NOTE: I've pulled my battery already, wiped the cache and dalvik cache, reflashed my ROM twice, flashed 3 different ROMs (which were known for battery life and let them settle for 2 days), fixed permissions, etc. I even wiped my battery stats in case that was the issue too. Still takes about 4 hours to charge my phone through a wall outlet.

Try an alternate charger?
I've noticed this as well as much as I charge my phone it will never charge anymore while using it, instead I'll lose battery little by little. I'm starting to thinking it's either the phone getting old of the battery or the mf1 rpm but if someone has mb1 and can confirm that it happens to them as well then that's knocked off.

Finally found the cause of the problem. It wasn't the cable, but rather the connector that had the issue. I tried a connector from an LG phone (don't know which model) and it's charging my phone perfectly fine now. Mods, please lock this thread because the problem's been solved.

Batteries don;t last forever, you failed to mention how old your device is, but a Lion battery has about max, 500 cycles before its garbage. It may not die all at once, they start deteriorating and lose capacity an start to get hot when they charge. Batteries are cheap. If yours is getting old and tired, Try a new one.
There are also some apps out there that can tell you the condition of your battery.

If it really matters, the phone itself is around a year old at this point in time. Normally, I would accept that to be the case, except I've seen reports of the S3s having charging problems due to something that has to do with the charger.
Problem's already been solved though. Switched my OEM Samsung charging adaptor with an LG one and it's all good (still using the stock Samsung cable though since there no problem with it)

Skyrocket Battery - Charging Tips

I am receiving a new phone battery in the mail for my i727 since my old one won't last at all.
Do you guys have any tips for me on how to charge my battery so that I keep my charge for the longest time possible without damaging or ruining the battery in any way?

Define 'won't last at all'? How much time do you get on the battery now? It rarely has anything to do with charging, unless you use some crappy charger that blasts high amperage current at it. Battery drain is almost always because of either a wakelock preventing deep sleep, or an app running in the background chewing up CPU, and thus battery. For me there were 3 culprits, 1) some chargers (specifically Apple compatible ones) cause a wakelock on 'vm_bus_present'. If you see this, reboot after charging to clear it and get a different charger. 2) Corrupt media data that causes the media scanning process to continually spin CPU. Clear data and cache for the media app. 3) Bluetooth crashes, and the you get a 'bluesleep' wakelock. Reboot until Bluetooth stops crashing, usually for me it only takes one.
CPU Spy and Better Battery Stats are your friends. See the Battery pinned topic, this is covered in much more detail there.
I'm not sure it matters about my old one.
I just need to know how to charge my new one. Everyone talks about how they charge their battery, and I want to hear how.

I plug in my phone at night, and I unplug it in the morning. I don't think it gets any more complicated than that.

You plug it in and when it says battery full you unplug the cord.

Nothing mysterious about charging a phone. Seems like there were some complex charging rituals way back when but they have since been proven BS. That being said, If you normally run your phone down by mid day because you play with it all morning no fancy charging ritual is going to help you.

Battery care

Can someone explain me the Battery Care feature?
As I understand, it will only charge the battery to 100% near the end time, which I have set to 7.15h AM.
However, I put the phone charging at midnight and I woke up at 3AM and the battery was already at 100% and still charging.
Can someone explain me how this feature works? I thought it worked like iOS 13, it charges the phone to 80% and only charges the remaining 20% near the End Time. But I think I'm thinking wrong.
Thanks.
It's supposed to charge to 80 and then slowly charge to 100 by the time u have set. But I've seen reports of it not working properly on the Zenfone 6

Now that I actually have this phone I see what the problem is.
The battery care feature works but it's broken. The times are broken I have mine set to work from 10pm to 7am but during that time period it doesn't work, however I noticed it DOES work from 10am to 7pm
So they have to fix that bug

Can confirm clearing storage works! It's one of the best features of the phone, especially for me who's used to overnight charging.
Thanks for sharing.
Another question - is it possible to connect zenfone6 to another phone and share its battery?
So the idea is zenfone6 working as a power bank.
Thanks!

It's very slow, there's no UI, and it's not supported by ASUS.
I wouldn't use this phone for that.
where to find the clear the cache and storage under Battery Care?
