A bit false. Currently have the L04 and it has dual sim. Getting the L09 will have more bands for Europe and L04 has more bands for the US. That's the key difference. Other than that it's basically the same phone.

I tested it once to see how it all worked and I can at least confirm that it works. The only downside was that I was not used picking which sim to make calls from or send messages from. Neat feature but not a necessity for me
I still don't get it, why huawei is commercializing the honor 8 as a single Sim phone when it's able to be dual Sim

Maybe cause the phone was made for millennials. Like they said in their announcements! Which means most "teens" who buy the phone will not really care about the second sim card slot cause they won't need them.
No but out of all seriousness they advertised it as one nano sim and one nano sim/ sd card. Just because it has an sd slot in the place of second sim people will probably not even acknowledge it cause well.. let's be honest, more memory is rather nice

Well I'll be damned.. Mine is the L09 and my brothers is the L04. I somehow got those mixed up but I guess that explains a lot ;P Consider all of my statements invalid! Honest mistake since they both look like the exact same phone ._.

I just picked up the FRD-L04 today, and it has a dual SIM tray - the 2nd slot doubles as a Micro SD slot, so you have to choose between two SIM cards and extra storage capacity.

It is confirmed that the L04 does NOT have dual sim, only 1 sim and sd card. Check the picture in post above! L09 and L19 have dual sim.

As far as I remember, one owner of honor 8 put two sim cards in his phone (L04), he called the number of the second slot and it did work, but it didn't show up on the phone.

Actually, that is incorrect. The second SIM card slot doubles as a Micro SD slot. From the Honor website:
SIM slot
SIM card 1(Main card): LTE FDD/ TD-LTE/ WCDMA/GSM/EGSM/DCS/PCS;
SIM card 2(Share with microSD card): GSM/EGSM/DCS/PCS
Given that I've already used dual SIM cards in the phone successfully, I'd say your information is incorrect...

If someone fix this, I am in too This single sim sucks... Another question is, slot used at L09 is meant only for one sim and memory card. There is no way how to place another sim. From HW point of view, there may be not HW interface for 2nd sim, but I doubt that Huawei would produce two types of boards...
I checked the SIM tray on my MHA-L09 and I don't see how one would put 2 SIMs there ?? Not possible.

pity is, that they didn't assign imei for second slot. I was able to make dualsim from P8 lite and Honor 7, but they have 2nd imei despite both bought as single sim.
Please refrain from any chat and discussion on changing the IMEI, even for restoration purposes. It is illegal and we do not allow discussion of it on XDA. Forum moderator, Matt

So I did the rebranding by installing the L29C636. I had bought a tray porta for dualsim, I got 2 cards and the 2 works perfectly, even though the second IMEI is all zeros. One of the cards uses the vodafone network and the other one of movistar, I have tried the 2 like Sim1 and Sim2, and they work without distinction.

Can anyone tell me how to use two sim cards in honor 8 frd-l02 in india
I have seen a screenshot in which one user had 2 indian sim cards at the same time how is that possible..?
Its not possible.. Can you share the screenshot?
It's a single sim device. The sim card tray shows a cutout of two sims but the 2nd one doesn't work. You can only use one sim. That other person must have another country's model and must have rebranded his phone as an FRD-L02.

Huawei P20 Single sim to dual sim
Hi Everyone, I have a Huawei P20 EML-L09 single sim from the French operator Orange. I would like to transform it into a dual sim working phone. I didn't find any relevant information's about that, except that i will need to rebrand it.. And now i'm stuck. Does anyone already do this ? it seem's that i have to rebrand it into an EML-L29, but I dont know how, where to find tools and images, and also if it will brick the phone or not. Also i'm lost with country codes, mine is C109 . Many thanks !

You are joking. Hardware is not the same, on single sim version there is only one sim port. You can check it by taking off the sim tray and looking inside the sim port. You will see only contacts for SD card and for one SIM. If some post says that it work, pelase go ask author of that post.

The hardware supports dual SIM. You need to buy the dual SIM tray though. Also, I have rebranded and then changed over to dual SIM using funky Huawei. I was left with a fully functional dual SIM and broken speaker sound volume. It was stuck at 20% and no matter how many resets I did could not get it fixed. You also loose bootloader unlock using Funky Huawei. I luckily had my phone replaced under warranty...
