Recently my light sensor seems to have borked/disappeared. I like to tweak/modify my system but I've never had any problems before. I've used CF Lumen and Lux for a long time and all of a sudden they aren't working anymore. Lux says -1lx and the calibrate mode in CF Lumen says 0 lumens. I just put the phone back to stock from the the thread in the general section hoping that would fix any software issue. Does anyone else have any other ideas on what I can do to try to make it work/reset it? I also downloaded an app called Light Sensor that states that I don't have light sensor hardware.. Could there be a build prop tweak or something else that I can do that could reactivate it?

My Galaxy S has a problem with the Light Sensor, every time i make a call my phone freezes or black screen, I tried running some sensor tests but also does same when i try the light sensor, so that must be it. have this problem for a year, at first i thought it was the proximity sensor.
When my headphone is plugged in, i dont have this problem because the light sensor wont interfear then.
I want to disable the startup of the light sensor,
I already setup ADB, so im ready to push and pull, but i don't know wich file i need to edit. remove a # here and there
Can anyone tell how wich file it is?

Sure its not the proximity sensor? Cause I got the same problem. When I accept a call screen goes black, the upper bar is visible and after a while the screen turns off. Im ceratin that is a problem with the proximity sensor or not?
Same here, yeah think its the proximity, but my light sensor also doesn't function properly, auto brightness adjustment doesnt work also.
Very anoying problem.
Absolutely love my Moto G (coming from Lumia 520)
Problem is that when brightness is set to auto,it does not change at all. Outside or inside, there is no difference at all.
When set to "auto" brightnes goes to minimum regardless of situation.
I have downloaded an app called Sensor test, but i cant verify if sensor is working correctly.
I have searched this and other forums but it does not seem to be a very known problem. Anybody has/had the same issue?
*Update*
I have download an app called Android sensor Box and checked the Light Sensor module. It keeps showing 2.9 Luxes, no matter if it is dark or in bright sunlight.
Damaged hardware? anyone?
I tried different roms (cm10.2, cm11, ls3.1, ...) all the same. Sometimes the light sensor seems not working. After reboots it may be found/activated or even not.
Yesterday i found the solution: If i reboot my Relay 4G in broad daylight or in the near of a lamp the light sensor (and therefore also the display auto brightness) works.
Maybe there is a test at bootup if sensor returns "0" the light sensor wont be activated? Anybody else have problems with auto brightness?
Regards
I have had similar experience when booting the phone in a dark environment. When the light gets bright it starts working again.
Up till yesterday everything was working fine. Suddenly, the screen stopped turning off during calls on CM11 (4.4.4). I thought of it as a bug then.
Today I switched back to ViperS Sense 5.2.1 and the screen still doesn't turn off during calls.
I used an app to see all my sensor's readings (CPU-Z) and it didn't show anything for the light and proximity sensors.
I tried *#*#3424#*#* and ran a light sensor test but it didn't give me any result (I think it's a fail).
And now the automatic brightness control isn't working either.
Is this a hardware issue or is there a solution? Has anyone encountered this?
PS: ROM/Firmware in my signature.
Hello,
Me and ma GF who also owns a ZF6 recently had this issue : the proximity/ light sensor dont work. (we check doing the SMMI TEST on the phone). But then if we reboot the phone the sensor starts working (SMMI TEST OK) for a while.
Then some time after like a day or so it stops working again (noticeable because auto screen light adjusting stops working).
Is anybody else experiencing this ? Any way to fix that?
Thanks
