[Completed] Tablet shows no commands, the usb depuration wasn't activated, pc won't recognize it - XDA Assist

Well here I have a wonderful problem, I have two devices, according to the working one and cpu z:
4x ARM cortex A9 @1.42 ghz
revision r3p0
Rockchip RK3066
Model rk3188
Manufacturer Zowee
Android version 4.4.2
bootloader unknown
java vm Dalvik 1.6.0
kernel 3.0.36+ (eng.candy.20150403.110733)
The device that has the problem is the exact same model and all, however, after plugging it to the AC current, it tries to boot up but enters into recovery mode, none of the options work at all, looking into youtube I found out that I can extract the firmware, so far so good, but, I can't use that method because RKROMDUMPER and RKAndroid_v1.29 need the tablet to be plugged and there is the problem, the faulty tablet does not load in that mode while plugged to the computer.
So I was left with the option of getting into recovery mode and attempt to update from external storage, so far the only "Firmware" or "ROM" I've got is the one I extracted from the working tablet, I have, backup.img, boot.img, kernel.img and so on, the biggest one is the system.img which is near 6GB size.
I really don't know how to proceed from this point, do I have anything usable with those .img files? I have tried downloading a 4.4 Android rom, the recovery tried to load the files contained in the zip folder yet the loader showed messages such as, bad footer, or invalid image or always a denial message of whatever sort you may imagine.
So, I am stuck, reading further more I discovered that there are other methods or even other roms that can be loaded, but the Zowee guys have near to nothing to work with.
Could you please help me with this? Are the .img parts usable or in some way "joinable" like merge them into a single file or directory?
The device was not rooted, so I am left with only the chance of fresh installing from sd card and nothing else.
Thanks in advance.

[Completed] Retreive Files from Bootlooped ATM7029

A friend of mine that I gave a tablet to left it in a hot car and now it is bootlooping. She has a bunch of photos and documents that were written on the tablet that she would like to get back. The only trouble is that this tablet is one of those Chinese Action ATM7029 clones with little to no information on the internet about them. I figured out the combos to get into the stock recovery and do have access to SD cards to load recovery images onto it. ADB bridge / debugging was never turned on in the tablet so going into recovery does not create an ADB link. Here are the details:
Device: FastTouch 10" 8gb
Android: 4.2.2
Processor: ATM7029
Memory: 8gb flash / 1gb ram
ADB Enabled: No, USB Debugging was never turned on
Recovery: Accessible, but only stock version
SD Slot: yes, 8 and 32gb SD Cards are available to be used
Computers and Operating systems: I have a Mac with 10.8 with ADK 'installed', access to a windows 7 machine available
(Amazon link to the device: amazon_com/gp/product/B00ECKG0XK/)
Here is what I have done:
1) Got into recovery
2) Tried wiping cache and rebooting, still stuck
3) Tried ADB from a Mac machine, not recognized (ADB was not turned on in tablet)
4) Looked for any sort of recovery for the device. Sketchy possibles, no direct compatible found
5) Posted here.
Here is what I want to do:
1) Get the files off (if possible)
2) Get the device working, even if that requires wiping the files out (if possible)
Can anyone point me to a CWM or TWRP that would work with this device and let me form an ADB link to backup with? Even if the recovery ran out of ramdisk and didn't install that would be enough. I really want to get those files back out before doing dastardly things to the device. Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.
Hi!
I can find nothing useful about that device on XDA. It is possible its suffered a hardware failure from the extreme heat and may be unrecoverable.
However, Please ask in the following general thread. Perhaps you will find some help.

Thanks for the advice. I wondered if I should post it there first. Will anyone be mad if I just copy paste that over?

[Completed] [Q] cannot bigpart or upgrade my Xooms

I hope I'm not doing soemthing wrong here, but I've given up trying to update my Xooms. So I copy my post on Questions & Answers to this area. 50 views got no response over there. Any relevant information might get me interested again. Thank You, and please delete this post if it's out of order.
GreyBeard51
(newby with two xooms,a kindle fire, and Linux Mint 17) I love Xoom.
"I have two identical xooms. The model number lists as "Xoom". Android version is 4 .1.2 , build JZ054K, kernal version 2.6.39.4-g4e32b94 . I've been trying for days to update at least one of them. I'm using a Linux Mint 17 desktop. No Windows available.
I've tried everything I found on these forums, and nothing has worked. I have 32gb external sd cards in both of them. My first trak was to do it from the SD card but I found that recovery cannot see my SD card. I also tried putting " BigPart" in a directory called downloads, but that didn't help. I also tried loading it onto the internal card. Can't see it either way.
I downloaded the Linux android files and plugged in the USB cable. I could talk to the Xoom, and tell it to reboot the bootlooder into fastboot or recovery, and the Xoom would reboot but lock up at the "loading fastboot" screen. I tried sideloading the BigPart file, but the install would fail on validation. If I try to enter fastboot by rebooting it locks on the loading screen. If I load recovery on boot it appears to come up but It can't see the SD cards or accept the files from the computer (From adb).
One of these Xoom's I gedfied and the other was a google device when I bought it. Both got all of their last bunch of updates thru Google, until Google dropped them. Could the google updates have left something needed out??
As I understand the process getting Big part on the device is the first step. I have all needed files for the upgrade,on my SD cards and on my Linux machine. I just can't use them. Anyone have any ideas? Does anyone know where and what the OS is looking for during that attempted USB update??"

[Completed] Recover data of Zif Tablet with damaged touchscreen

Hello.
I hope someone can provide guidance with this problem.
First info about the problem:
1) Manfacturer: Zif
2) Model T722G
3) Android version: N/A
Problem description: The touchscreen is completely black an unresponsible after the tablet got water inside of it, already opened by some amateur so I don´t think it can be fixed.
Goal: Try to save the contents of the internal memory of the device (if possible), pictures, music, videos.
When the devices is plugged to PC it shows some activity, on the device manager, the device is recognized as Linux File-CD Gadget USB device, however no storage device is detected.
Additional details: Sometimes when connected it also shows MT6577 VCOM device for a brief period of time.
A couple of times it appeared as storage device (with a sort of camera logo I forgot the exact name) and two unit letters appeared on the storage manager, but it didn´t show on the file explorer. I tried a recomendation of uninstalling the driver, but then it never appeared again.
Any help would be appreciated.

[Completed] ****ed up my android/windows 10 tablet

So I got a tablet (Neo Shift N81) that was exactly what I wanted, one that dual boots windows 10 and android. But I discovered that the Android portion barely has any memory and naturally it got full pretty quickly. Then I wanted to use the Link2SD app to expand its memory, but this requires root. One thing lead to another, and eventually ended up at this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096), selected the T4 trigger but on my tablet didn't show any options to install the zip file. I ended up selecting recovery, and the tablet booted into its own recovery. By this time, Windows was gone at the OS select screen when starting up. Android still boots up fine, and when I click the option to "boot into windows", I only get this command prompt-like screen. What do I do now??

Stuck in bootloader with no volume keys, and windows won't recognise device

Hi,
I have a 5" android tablet recently acquired through Amazon, and it appears to be completely brandless, so I have no idea who made it.
I rooted the device and changed the bootloader image using the app "Boot animations". It booted, then loaded the animation and gets stuck there. it cycles through this three times before giving up and booting into recovery. Once in recovery I have no way of selecting any option other than "Reboot system now" as the only hardware button on the device is the power button. there are no volume, home or menu buttons of any sort.
There is a reset button on the back which simply takes the slightest click and it reboots the device. neither this, the power button, or any sequence of the two together provide me with anything other than a reboot.
I Then tried installing SDK with platform-tools and the usb driver, I also downloaded the generic android usb driver from google, and i've tried running ADB to no avail, neither of them will see the device, and device manager does not show the device under "Other", it simply displays it as a mass storage device briefly while it runs through the attempted boot sequence before entering recovery where it no longer appears in device manager.
I have a new 64gb SD card for it which i have done nothing with, I'm hoping that maybe there's a way of using it given i have no hardware buttons?
Does anyone have any idea of how I can factory reset this device?
I'm desperate here and have researched every forum google has thrown at me over the last two weeks.
Many thanks
Jody
hello @jody-michael
I don't know if there is a way to fix the problem.
Please see this post. If there is adequate time to change the boot animation file bwfore the device reboots, maybe it can help you.
Are there details of the device model under its battery?
Have a great day
Hello @yairku
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I stupidly didn't turn usb debugging on, so when it does briefly show up as mass storage, I can't actually access the storage, so can't access or change the bootloader files.
The other issue is its a sealed unit so I can't access the battery either. If anything I could do with some kind of clever windows app that can see the device and run a factory reset bypassing the debugging mode as it's not activated.
Hi @jody-michael
If the device has an mtk chipset, it might be possible to use sp flash tool to get the firmware from the device, edit it and flash it.
To use sp flash tool, a scatter file is needed.
I found this tutorial that shows how to create a scatter file.
I hope that It will be possible to replace the boot animation that causes the problem, with a good one.
If you are willing to try to create the scatter file, please let me know and I might be able to help you with it. I understand the steps of the tutorial.
Good day
There should be written something on the back of the tablet. Something more than just a serial. try to post a photograph. Once the device is identified, look for a ROM in an update.zip format. Copy the update.zip into the root directory of a sd card, turn device off, apply sd card and turn the device on. Hopefully, it will discover the update on the sd card and install it.
Best wishes...
Unfortunately sp flash tool doesn't see the device either. I've persisted with driver installs etc. I haven't been able to get the existing scatter file read or figure out where to get one for my device.

Thanks JoachimP,
I like this idea, however I don't know what rom to use. As you can see in the attached images, there's no indication of manufacturer name, model, serial or anything. All I have is its a 5 inch brick right now
