Can I encrypt a rooted Note 5? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

I just rooted my Note 5 and installed TWRP following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-note5/general/how-to-root-instructions-t3187895
My question is, can I go ahead and safely encrypt my Note 5 like you would when it's unrooted? Or is it not possible when it is rooted?

I tried encryption when I was rooted on Moar roam but when it booted kept getting unresponsive ui error had to boot into twrp and decrypt. I'd make a backup and try it worse case you have to decrypt with twrp and possible restore with your backup.

[Q] TWRP, Darkman DEODEXED 4.1.2 and encryption

Hi,
unfortunately I am not yet allowed to post directly in the development forums therefore a post in Q&A...
I rooted my tablet via Exynos Exploit and installed CWM. Unfortunately I downloaded the OTA update from Samsung which was a fix for this and lost my root. So I did use an alternative root method and got root again.
As I do not want to carry around my GN without encryption I started the encryption task but unfortunately I was stupid enough to cancel at the beginning of the enryption (do not ask..) and was stuck in the encryption process. No reset and reboot helped so I installed TWRP (encryption support) and did a full wipe.
I did install the deodexed stock rom from Darkman and everything is working fine now. The only problem I have is that I am not able to encrypt my GN again. Everytime I start the process I see a black screen with the android emblem but that's it. Is it not possible to use the encryption with TWRP, root or deodexed rom?
Thanks!
rustikus
Maybe it is a stupid question but is encryption somehow limited if I use a deodexed rom or root?

Trying to root. TWRP can't access internal storage on encrypted Note5.

I have a stock Note5 running PH9, and this phone is encrypted. I already had TWRP installed prior to encryptign.
I'm wanting to root the phone, but when I reboot to TWRP I can't see the files on the internal storage. Because of that, I can't flash the SuperSU zip file in order to root it.
Is there some way around this? Or is it not possible to be rooted and encrypted?

I would say remove the encryption and then root the phone first and then put the encryption back on.
Sprint Note 5 Root problems also
I have a Sprint Note 5 6.0.1 marsh. I tried to root but after Putting SuperSU into the twrp phone doesnt reboot I only get Samsung Note 5 sign with the red "Kernel is not SEANDRIOD ENFORCING" in the top left corner I cant turn the phone on. Where did I go wrong

Re-enable dm-verity

My brother asked me to root his phone, but later on he said he didn't want to format. I had already flash dm-verity disabler, so I'm now trying to re-enable it or something to boot back to stock ROM again, even if it means no root. Any thoughts? (Samsung Galaxy S7 GM-930F oreo)

You can encrypt your device though settings menu ( in security menu ). I have not used this method so can't say what happens to root. If twrp is installed you will have to reformat data again to flash anything.
Or
Flash stock firmware through Odin. This will generally remove root ( and twrp if installed ).
Always do a backup before doing anything.

Question TWRP for Oneplus 9?

Today I tried to install twrp from this link
Install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 9/9 Pro [Android 13]
In this comprehensive tutorial, we will show you the steps to install the TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro devices.

I have the CN version (LE2110 ) with Oxygen 11.2.9.9.LE25AA. I was able to make it unlocked but on the step where I am in the temporary TWRP I can't now browser to any files I copied before. I have no access to the SDCARD, to flash TWRP permanent.
Is there another workaround to get TWRP running on the OP9 and root it after?
thanks
Andy
Great the twrp from op9 pro works perfecet. magisk and root as well. thanks very much for the great work.
Is there a way to disable the unlocked message which appears on the boot?
what happen if I lock it again? does TWRP and root work then?. Bit scary to try as yesterday I was hanging in a boot loop with trying twrp...)
thanks
I unlocked the bootloader with adb fastboot flashing unlock.
what do you mean by MSM?
right now I am on stock rom with all updates, TWRP with Magisk and root.
should I look the bootloader with ad fastboot flashing lock ? Do I still have TWRP and Magisk with root running after I lock the bootloader again?
thanks
Do not ever lock your bootloader with TWRP installed or root! It can and very likely will brick your device! You can only get rid of that message by going back to stock without root and without TWRP and then relock. You have been warned, do not even think about it
Hi,
ok thanks for the information, then I better leave this message,
thanks
Hi,
ok I will leave the message then.
thanks to all for quick support
It is/was "possible" to remove, but the difficulty and risk are not worth it.
