I know I'm not the only one that wants this...
Being an admin my box is constantly filled with stuff that I really don't want to wake me at 3am. However, when an outage or other high priority alert comes through, it would be AWESOME if I could alert on only those messages, or have a different alert for them.
Any chance that anyone is working on an app that would let the user specify an alert based on an email rule or filter? This is one I'd pay for gladly.

You need to specify which mail client you're using.. If you're using K9, you can most likely use Tasker to do this. http://www.dinglisch.net/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?catselect=29
For me, I have it notify me with a second, remarkable notification immediately after the standard one for new email for special emails I want to read immediately. You could get fancy and have it only notify once with a unique sound if necessary.
As an admin, what are you using for business email? If it's Exchange/Outlook or Google Apps/Outlook you can simply set this up a series of rules in Outlook and have only relevant/whitelisted emails pushed to your mobile device. It's probably possible with Gmail as well, but I haven't tried it.
Good luck!
We're on Exchange. Your solution has merit, however I still want access to all emails on my device. I'd just like to be able to configure which ones alert via some very simple rules/filters.
I know that Froyo is supposed to have better exchange support. I can only hope that if it supports folders, perhaps I can set alerts for certain folders. Then I could set some server side rules to auto-sort as they come in.
We'll see...

Group's contacts calls intercepted in the booking period.
Looks great! I will try it out... seems that it is something like groups in Google Contacts or is there something really different? (except firewall!, I understand that the firewall is not possible in Google Contacts)

Thanks! Will give it a go. Looks to be pretty good already.
Perfectly executed ad placement, BTW
does it group your contacts by your google groups..?
Thanks, dewang!!!!
Edit: Slight spelling error: "Select photo form Gallery", should be "from".
Thanks!
Nice app! Since it's now in the Market, I will add it to next Monday's Last Week's Best Android Apps and Games roundup, like this one http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/1...-and-games-10410-101010-now-with-screenshots/
OK
Thank you for your interest.
I think I hit a bug but I can't reproduce it, so I think it only happens if you install and don't go to the options. Basically, the mass SMS option added all the phone numbers from every contact, instead of just the primary ones. When I went to the options, I saw that the default option is to actually pick the primary one and is already checked. Then I went back and tried again and this time it was fine - only the primary numbers were selected. Any idea why this may be happening? Do you not initialize your options perhaps?

Thank you for your feedback. I have found the problem, because the code and configuration files using the default settings are different. I'm adding new features. Completed immediately after the update.
Just what an android needed!!! Good job man!
I *really* like this contact manager, it has almost all of the features that I've been dreaming of having since I left the iPhone.
I have two requests:
I have contacts in my Google Contacts, and they and the groups they are in are showing up just fine. I also have an Exchange account, and those contacts are showing up as well. However, the groups from the exchange account are not showing up. Is it possible for you to add them?
I usually look people up by their last name, but can't seem to find out how to do that in the application. Is there a way to sort contacts by their last name?
Thanks!
How do i disable conversation view in gmail on android ... it isn't that i don't like conversation view ... the issue that i have with it is when enabled you cannot assign different labels to different threads within one conversation
Thanks in advance
Kris
Wow no one interested in this? I have the same question for my galaxy s
Same question here... can't stand conversation view on anything. Maybe just not used to it... but anyways....
Is there a way to disable conversation view in the Gmail app?
Same with me.
Same here too. I know that you now have the ability to switch off conversation view in desktop gmail. Need the same for android gmail. Perhaps in a future update Google?
Perhaps some time in the very distant future, by the looks of it
Google developers seem to be focussed on teenagers (in an effort to compete with Apple, perhaps?), who invariably receive tiny e-mails and have no problem with dozens or even hundreds of messages being bundled together - but when you're actually trying to get anything of consequence accomplished via e-mail, you'll very quickly find yourself rushing to the nearest computer to open your Gmail, 'cause stumbling through dozens of hundred-line-long messages in threaded view on the 'phone is an utter nightmare.
For the time being, it looks like the only solution is to enable IMAP in your Gmail account, then use K-9 Mail to access it that way (and disable mail synchronisation in Android for your Gmail account so you don't get double the notifications).
Hi,
Looking for an App that will force a loud ringtone (even when on silent) when an email arrives (into Gmail box) from a specific email address (or addresses).
Basically a 'prioiry email' type application. I have had a nosey round the market and various apps seem to offer partial results but nothing concrete.
This is needed for overnight support at work - to make sure that any incidents wake up the on-call guys
in other words it needs to be a pretty stable app
Any thoughts ?
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.hubris.gmailnotifierpro&feature=search_result should be the solution, you'll need to set up a rule in gmail to put the mail in a certain label and then use this app
You might also be able to do something like that with Tasker. I know it is possible to trigger alarms and other changes/activities with SMS messages, so email may be as well.
Thanks Guys .... Ill have a tinker with both
I have looked at I would guess about 5-10 different applications to give me what I'm looking for with no luck.
What I Need:
Email client or Application to watch emails.
Sound notifications when criteria are met.
Ability to set days alerts are active.
I am willing to pay for the application as long as it works. I can also create a new email alias made just for these notification so filters are not needed.
Example:
If I receive an email from [email protected] with the title "Urgent"...
My phone wakes up, takes me off silent (if it's on) sounds an alarm (preferably from my notification sound list) and as an added bonus shows me the title and or body of the email.
List of application I have tried:
Tasker - Confusing as all get out.
K-9 - No filtered alerts
Mail-Alert - Says has sound notification but does not work in practice
MailDroid - No filtered Alerts (and no sound alerts)
Email Advanced - No sound alerts
E-mail Notifier - I have to new of a version of Gmail
And a few others a cannot remember at the moment.
Any suggestions?
