So, let me get this straight, what kind of tablet are you talking about?
Samsung galaxy tab A SM-T350 Android OS 5.0.2
If you are looking to test wifi security you can check this out https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bigos.androdumpper
It tries to connect to wpa2 and wpa secured wireless using a wps attack (some routers are affected of this wps bug) using a rooted tablet you can even get the wpa2 password for the wifi.
Note that this app is for testing purposes and not for hacking neighbors wifi.
backtrack 5 is obsolete, use Kali LInux.
Kali LInux is optimised for Nexus devices see, Nethunter Project.
You can still install LInux/GNU in Android devices by using Linux Deploy (github)

use “what is my ip” google search when connected to the wifi or via modem tethering to find your IP address
Then copy past the multi digit code into the app you are using to connect to the device
Example IP: 107.168.192.2.1
Note you'll still need the "port" number too.

Welcome; most certainly I can explain this better. I've been working on a guide about this and screen repair and I'll be linking it in when it's a bit more finished. Just thought a preview to get ya started would be a good thing go ahead and try it if you can, the directions make way more sense with the apps open. Screen shots that's what I'll do too, maybe a video but that'll take more time

Let me know if this draft works a bit better. Been a long week for me so far but still wanted to ensure you know I'm still here screen caps will have to wait on me getting back on my PC
Step 1
Download this app to the phone or tablet that you want to remotely view (I'll call this device "Wabafet" )
droid VNC server
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.onaips.vnc&hl=en
Step 2
Get the IP address of Wabafet --
2a~ use a web site like
canyouseeme.org
2b~ use an app like
Network Info II
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=aws.apps.networkInfoIi
-- take note of the IP address
For this example I'll say Wabafet's IP is 192.168.79.2
Step 3
Open droid VNC server and play around with it a bit...
Really just check it out, set a password maybe, set the port to something possible like 4444.
Hint: low port numbers fail silently so don't use'em
Step 4
Download this app to the device that you want to connect to Wabafet I will call this device Doctor
Android VNC
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.freeroam.android.androidVNC
Step 5
Open Android VNC on Doctor
Input the IP address and port number
Be sure you're on the same wifi and attempt connecting
If things look funny try playing with the color settings
If the screen size is strange then try messing with the zoom and auto stretch settings
If the connection fails be sure that the ports, IP, and if set user and password all match
If connection fails after succeeding then use step 2a or 2b and update the connection settings on Doctor running Android VNC

If you want more networking guides I'm collecting some in section 7 of the guide I'm writing (link in sig) which cover seeing an Android screen within a window on your PC among other things.

Yep super user is a requirement same with getting root when ya want to do fun things to devices.
Both devices should be connected to the same wifi router
or
You can connect one device to the other's hotspot
Be sure you've got the IP put in right and be sure you've got the right one. There are external IP's and internal IP's the one that you get from canyouseeme.org is (or should be) the external and this is the one you want to put in to the app connecting into the other device.
If using a router you may need to set up some kind of port forward or IP table too or static IP's for the mac addresses of those devices. Which if you weren't confused before then those words put into google searches are sure to not help at all
I've some camping to do for a few days but I'll be back to help more and no worries on time waist I posted to help and that's what I'm here to do... well as best as I can; happen to know of any open source video editing software that's good for layering videos and audio from multiple files?

Hello!
Recently my school disabeled internet access for Android an iOS, so we only have internet access on our computers running Windows or OSX. Is it any method of tricking the routers to think that my Samsung GT-P5110 (Running CM 10.1) is running Windows??

When the first developer preview came out, there were problems with OpenSSL. Apps that needed to connect to https servers seemed to all suffer from the same problem.
Developer Preview #2 solved this, and I've run various AOSP builds on my Nexus 5 and my Nexus 9 where the issue seems to be gone. Today however, I decided to install the latest factory images on both devices and guess what? I cannot connect to SSL servers once-more.
Anyone know what the situation is here?
How are you connecting? And what to? I only really connect to SSH tbh.

Well just as one example, Subsonic, my music-streaming service. None of the Android clients can connect to my server if I turn on SSL.
Hi! I also have SSL connection problem using nexus 9 and openssl0.9.8zg.
Does anyone have tried using openssl armv8 64 for their app using nexus 9?
Your help is highly appreciated.
Hi all, newbie.
Is there a ROM/image, pref linux that can run on these older donated units.
sm-t113 4.4.4 Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite 8 GB 7"
sm-t230nu 4.4.2 Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook Edition 8GB 7"
(sort of a thin client project)
Just need them to have wifi, touch, screen, audio and a browser.
Goal is kiosk mode browser with duplex audio streams to a PI4.
Alternative is to lock it into VNC of the PI4. but would really like audio.

Hi, it isn't that easy to use linux on these tablets. You should try to port halium (https://halium.org/), but I think it's very difficult. Not impossible, anyway. I've never tried it.

Thank you.
I was able to root one of them (Tab4), can't get the Tab3 to root. (I think MDM/odin is locked, comp doesn't even see it as a device both in linux or windows. It's like the USB port is just a power charger..tried different cords, ports, even os's.)
Anyways I was about to put linux on the one and it appears that it runs the linux like a virtual machine, [like a hyperv/virtualbox] using VNC to see the virtual computer... in my case I have a Pi4 that it's getting data from, so can just go direct vnc to it and skip linux on tab. I really wish there as a VNC with full duplex audio (mic sent to host, and host sound to client speakers)...or full android vnc/audio thin-client project.

To be honest, I'm not really knowledged in that. I just told you the way to run linux natively. But I think it's way better to use old laptops to run pure Linux.
Halium is a mainstream kernel project, and that would be too difficult as we dont have that much kernel support. Our best bet would be postmarketOS as someone booted it on the 10.1 (VERY broken. not even a working display) and the 7.0(not as broken, but has more to fix)
You can set up your USB for File exchange on Lineage OS 14, I will check which version I have , but I can confirm that the OS Lineage 14 that works for Samsung Galaxy Tab E-Lite T113SU works perfectly on the Samsung Galaxy Tab E-Lite T113. Everything works for the Tablet except for offline charging and the camera. If you are getting a red exclamation mark in the upper left corner and it wont boot , this means that your battery if totally flat. To get around this use the TWRP recovery after it has been plugged in for 5 minutes , then go into recovery mode, don't do anything but let it sit and it will charge right up to 100 percent, then reboot. This fixed everything on mine. Note to the developer of this kernel, I can load you mine and a Galaxy S4 plus a Galaxy Grad Prime for development work. I don't often use them, I also have an HP ElitePad 900 for loaner (Those I can get lots of with power supplies, batteries are shot but they work). I do have a contact that has lots of phone, tablets etc, I can get most of the older stuff for development work. Russ Campbell.
Hi peeps.
Newb here.
I have kali nethunter installed as chroot. I can't get certain functionality. I.e browsing websites and openvpn connections for example
I believe this is interface related, I.e using the wrong interface. Openvpn complains the default gateway is not set.
Firstly, has anyone had similar Experiance, secondly - would rooting the tab and flashing nethunter directly onto it solve these problems? (And could you explain why?)
Did you ever get nethunter to work?
Where did you find the apk to install it?
Using termux (play store),install wget and download the nethunter software from Offensive Security. (Youtube)
Functionality is scarce and it's a real pain trying to do this.
I would recommend buying a raspberry pi and installing kali onto it running it headless. Use a tablet to connect via vnc. Vastly more functionality with a fraction of the headache and frustration again this is instructed on YouTube
Alternatively, just get a tablet and get a subscription to proving grounds or hackthebox who offer Web based kali use on their machines if this is just for study.

The attached screenshot are the errors I am getting.
It seems to me something about the mirrors has changed recently based on https://github.com/termux/termux-packages/wiki/Mirrors
i think u can get rid of all of your sources other than termux-main/root/x11
So if you google your question, you'll find an answer.
Update the repositories, google how to update repos for termux
Get a raspberry pi and a cheap tablet. You still use a tab but the functionality is light years ahead of what you can achieve while using nethunter alone.
I'll be making a post soon on configuring a pi you can access via the internet with a tablet
