No, personal builds are just that: personal. Beans releases whenever he feels that the release is ready for the masses and if a bunch of personal builds are floating around, that tarnishes the Pure*Nexus*name.*

The default kernel? I haven't tried as I keep it encrypted (not file level encrypted) but if you want it to be decrypted by default and don't want to risk it flash Franco/ElementalX along with Gapps and ROM.

Considering that the only pure Nexus build is by beanstown.. the only thread is by beanstown there are no unofficial pure Nexus builds... period.
And the fact that beanstown has provided the source for everyone to create there own private build...it has to stay private..he has stipulated that he doesn't want unofficial builds floating around...so out of respect for the developer u should remove this thread...

I have full respect toward the developer, I make and share builds only so the people who cannot build or don't want to build etc can try the builds until the Official builds start to roll out as soon as the team releases the official builds I will ask a moderator to remove the thread and thanks for explaining this to me, hope you understand that my intentions are not offensive.
@Ken.Adams I guess this is not allowed. You better get permission from beans.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I have PM'ed the developer regarding permissions, I will keep you all updated regarding what he says and do appropriate.
This thread is closed until OP can obtain a Permission Under XDA Rule 12.
12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails, you may then contact a Moderator and provide clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in the copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence that it was you who created the work, then in the spirit of sharing, all work will remain posted on the forums.
As an addition, developers have the right to hold exclusivity over their work for as long as it is deemed necessary by that developer. However, if the work is claimed as exclusive, it must remain as such. No selective sharing will be allowed (ie, allowing certain people to use it and not others). If the developer decides to start sharing the work with others, the work automatically becomes available for all to use, albeit with the relevant credit displayed.
When permission has already been given, unless there is a very valid reason, it cannot be revoked (same applies to major updates on the work). Under that same premise, permissions cannot be denied unless the work is exclusive or under extreme circumstances.
In plain English: If you want to keep your work exclusive, go for it. However, if you are going to share your work, do it fairly.
Reposted content, derivative or maintained works based on that of former or banned members may be removed at our discretion.
These rules apply to all software posted on XDA (including but not limited to ROMs, RUUs, apps, games, kernels, themes, icons, etc) unless that software comes with a license that waives these rules.

Nice ROM and I would like to point out the sound quality is really good comparing with Liquid Smooth ROM!
But besides the all ready mentioned issues, the root fc when I try to set a pin code, as well when I press to go to recovery from the power manu.
One more thing I don't know if this ROM related, but I haven't had that issue in Liquid Smooth, I use exdialer pro, (soap dial/contacts app is simply ugly), when I installed it's plugin for missed calls and did a reboot as the plugin requires, the phone stuck on Xenon boot animation for more than 5 min, I had to pull the battery and then it started as it should!
And a noob question I assume this ROM goes under the AOSP label....right?

About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Great to see a 4.3 CarbonROM! Downloading right now and will let you know if any bugs are present. The Kernel version looks pretty sweet too.
Updated... so... FAST! Thanks a ton for this build Ravi, very happy to see how fast these new 4.3 roms are coming to us!

I did manage to get it to boot after a fresh install on system 3 but since wifi wasn't working, I rebooted the phone. Unfortunately, everytime I go to system 3, it's stuck at the black screen.
Haven't heard from any of the other guys who have installed it, so I'm not sure if that's just a problem with me or someone else is having it too.
Appreciate your help and concern. Back to MoKee for now.

Only issue is what's quoted and I kinda noticed a bit ruff on the vibration, as I type this I notice vibrate is feeling maxed out lol. Hands are tingling lmao! Great work man! Keep it up!

Couple of additions that would make this ROM even better are - fixing the Halo ofcourse, pop-up installation and uninstallation windows (like in MoKee) and ofcourse kernel additions for OC and better support for 4.3. Great work so far!

So in short, halo is what needs attention.. And as for pop up installation, I think that comes when you change dpi? I don't use this rom on a regular basis..

Seriously.

Bugs: Gyro, Speaker -> I will fix you one day... , camera preview (ex. skype/barcode scanner/ Hangouts video calls)
Some performance lag.
Introduced in build 3, broken sound in art, fixed art booting. Sound is broken in general, need to "borrow" a few cm commits that I didn't add.

Dig around for a 4.4 recovery. If its not in the op of this thread check the cm11 thread. Once you find it flash it through recovery, reboot system, reboot into 4.4 recovery. WIPE EVERYTHING including formatting system. Flash 4.4 ROM then flash 4.4 gapps package.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why isn't there XXXXXXX feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But CM and all the others have..
A: ROM developers, including CM, build something they want to use. The ROM dev that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't (or don't want), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Octo-Kat
ADB Logcat tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726238How to create a logcat log
Bugs:
Basic Instructions:
Download ROM .zip file
Download KitKat GApps - * See Note Below! *
Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Three-Finger or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM but it can be used if TWRP can not flash ---
Flash ROM, GApps files
Clear Dalvik/Cache
Reboot
A Note about the Team OctOs GApps
We in Team OctOs believe in choices. We believe in leaving the fundamental decisions about your phone to you.
In that spirit, Team OctOs gives you options for your GApps experiences. While any ODEX'ed GApps package should work, we offer you the choice of using some of the same GApps packages that we use ourselves, and leave the choice up to you.
You can find our Team OctOs GApps packages here, and break down into the following types:
GPe - Google Experience
Regular GPe GApps
Dalvik-Enhanced GPe GApps
AOSP
AOSP GApps
Dalvik-Enhanced AOSP GApps
The Dalvik-Enhanced packages are NOT ART compatible. If you plan to run ART, don't use those.
We will only update the thread with Stable Releases, whenever possible. This means that the thread may be behind non-milestone releases. If you have an issue with compulsive flashing, or feel the need to live 'life on the edge of brick', we invite you to follow us on Facebook and/or Twitter. Any dailies that can be released, we will release there. Please note, we pull these releases after a day or two, so if the latest link posted there is empty, simply wait until the next one.

On March 6, 2014, Team OctOs will be holding a Google Hangout Meet and Greet/Q&A session beginning at 9AM Eastern time. This will continue until we get bored with it.

Translators Needed!
We are currently looking for translators to help localize OctOs into other languages.
Many of the main ROM components are already translated (built-in), but anything that we've changed or added won't be. Currently, we are "English predominate" speakering team, but many of the users may not be!
If you would like to help bring OctOs to your language, check out: https://crowdin.net/project/team-octos-octo-kat-android-ro
You can sign up as a Translator and then start translating the OctOs project. This makes it easy to identify and translate the individual strings.

The last time we thought of rushing a release and by-passing the testers,it didn't turn out very well. Luckily I was the first to run it because I soft-bricked my S4 ;c) We will typically run the releases on our personal devices (where applicable) before even our Testers get it. If something bad is going to happen (and it easily can), we'd rather take the bullet than someone else.
That being said, Richard and Scott are working hard to get an update out. The fact they are the only S3 device owners (and even then, they don't use them as a primary) means its slow going. The testers are great, but when it comes down to methodically changing piece by piece to fix an error, there is only so much we can ask of them.
