If it's a sim free network unlocked xa as you would get from the Sony store you can put any simcard you like in it whenever you like. If the Samsung does this its not a sim free network unlocked one.

Someone correct me if im wrong but doesnt that just mean the bootloaders unlocked?? Are u trying to see if its SIM unlocked to use on any carrier??

You are completely correct, I am confusing the 2. The only way is to use a different carriers SIM card.

If he bought it online from ebay and it was "unlocked" im pretty sure it means SIM unlock....so to be sure of that the only way is to use a different carriers SIM card other than rogers. The thread mentioned really doesn't mean anything because it said the sane thing on my brand new at&t skyrocket before i unlocked it.

the link i posted was my experience, it states that you cannot tell if your phone is locked until you put a sim card that was not meant for the phone, when you put in a sim card not mean for the phone the unlock menu pops up, thats the only way to tell if phone is locked/unlocked in my experience.

Verizon is CDMA, AT&T is a GSM network....so....it's not gonna work
(as far as I'm aware)

My phone's Model number is SM-g930FD

I couldn't find the firmware of this model on sammobile.... Can I use odin to flash SM-g930F ??
Would I brick my phone?
I have found a TWRP flash instruction , can it be applied on the model SM-G930FD??
You have a dual sim phone, i wouldn't flash a firmware from a single sim phone.
In the title it mentions fd so it should work http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development/recovery-official-twrp-herolte-t3333770

Are you from UAE? I had this is in mind when I was buying this phone. Thought about waiting few more months for Souq and SharafDG Online to show up with the Global version(Single SIM). But decided to go with the DUOS for warranty purpose. Moreover I love TouchWiz now. How is your battery life and device temperature like? You pre-ordered?

I am from Taiwan, here, we can only get the international version, which is a dual sim card. The battery life, to be honest, not as good as other 3000mAh phone such as xioami 4,my last used phone. But with the quick charge, it almost get full charge after I plugin for 60 mins, so the battery life wont be concerned :good:

There's no custom rom yet for our s7, even the kernel isn't working well just yet. However, I've just deodexed my stock rom, I'm trying to make one simple custom (TW based) rom.

If we can flash the TWRP why can't be the ROM of the GLOBAL version(SM-G930F). Just we'll lose the Dual SIM capability, Right? Correct me if I'm wrong.
PS: I didn't buy S7 bcoz it had dual sim slots. Just bcoz I couldn't get Single SIM variant here in Dubai.

You're right. I will test it after a firmware for G930FD arrives so I have something to go back to. I too want a single sim variant only but here in the Philippines, only dual sim variant is available so I had no choice.
Hi..Long time lurker here..Just want to say something..
I got my S7 G930FD from Globe on March 14..Able to Sim Unlock it just the other day using a Paid Legit Unlock Site..But even if it's sim unlock there is still some bloat Globe had left in my phone...
To shorten my story I decided to flash a G930F rom..Specifically G930FXXU1APB6-G930FXXU1APB6-G930FOLB1APB6 that came from Samfirm.net..
All is working fine..I still have dual sim..I can both use 3G/LTE on both Sim(Not simultaneous of course)..
So I can confirm it's safe to flash Single Sim Rom to the Dual Sim Variant as long as both is F (G930F - G930FD)..

That's great news! I don't like how the messaging app shows an indication that sim 1 or 2 is being used. Was that removed after flashing G930F? Also what's your model number now? Thanks in dadvance.
Right now im not using a second sim but a microsd..Unfortunately there is still a number in the messaging app..Mine still shows 1 because im only using Sim 1..
Mine still shows SM-G930FD..

Too bad. That's what i've been trying to remove, the indication that the phone is a dual sim variant. Heck, if i can also remove the "duos" on the back of the phone i will gladly do it.
Anyway, if that is the case, doesn't that mean that there will be no official firmware to be released specifically for G930FD? Interesting.

You can change the icon in SIM Manager..I changed mine to an Envelope Icon..
I'm using a Neo Hybrid Case so the Duos on the back is covered..

Debra's XA

Getting the XA today from 3. Guess it will have 3 bloatware all over it and old firmware with slow updates. Is it possible to use Xpedia Companion to flash a stock firmware and rom?

Yes just done the exact same thing on three myself, got sick of the extra stuff three added plus they haven't updated to 33.2.A.2.93 yet so I've flashed the customised UK firmware. Battery life is much better than the three firmware too. Best thing about three xperia devices is no worries about not being able to unlock the bootloader if you want too though there's no ta key back up possible on the x range

No that is will only reinstall the software already on the device if you do a software repair or update it if it is a update.
You'll need to use the latest version of flashtool to download+create a ftf of your choice and then flash it takes between ten minutes and half hour.

Flashtool works on totally stock devices no root or bootloader unlock required. It downloads the firmware from Sony's own servers(they only keep current versions though) and yes you'll still be able to get updates as your not rooting it or unlocking the bootloader or modifying the system in any way. Three only supply sim free network unlocked devices for all there handsets payg or contract they just add there own bloatware to it.

Take note of the date in the image posted, trust me there network unlocked and bootloader unlockable one of the main reasons I have a contract with three its how I got the xa as a upgrade had a unlocked m2 from them previously on contract, flash customised UK firmware via flashtool(which is nothing to do with xperia companion) or don't believe me and stay as you are waiting for three to push the update which they don't even have yet I've checked with them they knew nothing about 33.2.A.2.93
I have the exact same device as you but I'm now running 33.2.A.2.93 customised UK firmware rather than 33.2.A.2.73 three UK firmware
Feel free to check the firmware releases below

Flashtool is totally separate to Sonys EMMA software Emma is Sonys official software for unlocked bootloader devices only.
Flashtool by androxyde is totally different and works on totally stock devices.
The bootloader is unlockable as mine is but it comes locked you need to email Sony requesting a unlock code and follow the instructions, unlocking the bootloader also voids the warranty.
My Xperia needs to be off and oem unlock checked and it should be fine
Try following this guide if you want root and unlocked bootloader

Enable the aggressive doze and doze on the go feature via adb in greenify, it makes doze more like old stamina mode. Gives you full instructions on how to enable it in the app. After using both three and customised UK firmware, the customised UK is definitely the better of the two. Glad to hear you are happy three must of only just got the firmware from Sony as a week ago they knew nothing about it. Why I ended up with the customised UK firmware

No. Sim unlock is completely different than bootloader unlock. you will have to contact t-mo for sim unlock.
