what can I do with a G4 orange

I have a G4 from orange france.
i'd like to change the rom, but I don't know which fits my phone...

I own a G4 from Orange Netherlands myself. I upgraded it to Aserg's 3.3.12 ROM. It made the phone quite a bit faster. There are still a few small issues with all/most custom ROMs, but in general they work like a charm. When I upgraded I first flashed to a 2.2 ROM just to be on the safe side.

Most info can be found in this thread. It has become a rather long thread, but it's filled with important and useful information. The flashing itself is explained clearly in the various download packages mentioned in that thread.

No, but I kinda wish I did so I could restore it in it's original form. Luckily a collegue has the same phone and he didn't flash it AFAIK. So I might get an original ROM from him just in case. I do suggest you make a backup of your original ROM, just in case.

Just dump it to your SD card (explained here) and then copy it to your PC using ActiveSync or a cardreader.

you have to wait ... your only way to CID unlock is that paying - it's the only solution for moment for G4

okay, but if I can backup my rom and install another rom, what's the insterest of cid-unlocking my phone ?

Im loooking for a ROM RADIO which activate GPS , cause the one in my ORANGE phone doesn't .
the guigou ROM is supposed to include a driver for the GPS but I think it works only for a naked pharos .

I got the same robleme : GPS worksonly with my origina Orange Rom
but, i also flash my pharos with the official rom (WWE), and so radio rom have been change, and it's the same....
I thinks the problem in not in the radio... maybe in onbl
PS I have tried Guigo's and Poldo's rom

Happy to see i'm not alone, Orange phone too and same problem.
GPS doesn't work if you change the ROM.
I think the prob come more from the Rom radio.
Because there's the same problem on Artemis from Orange (SPV650), you have just to change the Rom Radio and GPS rework immediatly.

I orignaly had 03.18.90, like you I think, ad now a I have 03.15.90 (come from the offica rom). GPS still working only with the orange rom!

Exactly that's the french release of the vodafone v1615.

Just letting everyone know, i ripped the radio out. It's number 1.65.17.54, not 1.65.16.56 as the download says. Will be posting it in about 4 minutes.

you need htcromtool to convert nb to nbh.. take a look here
anyway, flashing radio is a dangerous procedure so if you don't have problems with your actual version don't touch anything

The problem is that I have an Orange Pharos and i wanted to use the manila Rom. Using this Rom make my GPS unusable. So I hoped that flashing the radio could make the GPS work... Maybe I'm wrong

if you want to try i've made a nbh ready to flash... Be sure that your device is HardSPL patched.

don't know. I flashed the radio some days ago and it workes fine. I didn't have any problems with the old radio, but just wanted to have the newest version.
anyway, it is safe to run the file pharos_radio_03.37.90 poldo964 made. Using poldo's V10 ROM by the way.

Just updated from 03.15.90.
No problems yet, will return to this thread if something comes up.
