Guide to reduce TWRP or CWM backup size - General Topics

Those who are fed up of the disc size acquired by TWRP backup or CWM backup and want that it consumes less space on your disc....
Its just a small trick which work for all android device's.....
Requirements: Romtool box (android app)
Link: http://www.apkhotel.com/apk/24685/start
1) Open the app, grant root..
2) Select Rom Installer - Backup and Restore - Backup Current rom.
3) Device will automatically reboot into twrp mode and backup will start...
4) Then just delete the backup and you will not be able to restore that backup..
5) Now simply boot into twrp recovery and take backup using that....
U will find that backup will start and will show a size of whats original (lets assume a size of 2880 mb)
Let the backup go.....
6) Reboot ur device and open ur file manager and get the property of the file.
U will find that size consume on ur sd card is very less..(size now will be 1708 mb)
Once done u can take backup normally through twrp or cwm.....
No need to use Rom Toolbox again and again.....
Its a one time process...
Hit like if it helped and if anyone didn't catch me then ask me.....
I will share some screenshots or make a video....
Thanks.............??

I dont understand the general concept of this. I backup once using an app, and then my backups taken from recovery are magically smaller in size ? How is that possible? I mean, the factors that affect the backup size, are the total size of the partitions you backup and the compression method used from your recovery. Since rom toolbox doesnt change any of this (or does it?) how the other backups end up being smaller?

I removed the paid app from the OP. If there's a free version of this app, then post the Play Store link to it, otherwise this thread will be closed.

yes it is possible i think so but it will not be much successful to make a flasheble ip of apks..
btw in a rom in system there are all req apks of phone that can be combined together.. but still there is a risk of briking your device so better not to flash your homemade zip.. ..

Hey its possible using this application (though its in initial days) check it out at the following link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951478
press thanks on getting helped :good:
But how many apps u can flash???...our phone has hardly 200 mb internal menory in system/app...and except official cm7 all the roms occupy 160-170 mbs of space by default...and if it reaches to 190 phone starts lagging like hell and starts giving memory full warnings...so installing them is the better way or buy a S3

Backup script

Would it be possible to create a mod/script or even an app that would daily boot your device into recovery and create a CWM/TWRP type back up of your device? I know there are backup apps out there and they probably can be set to a timer but most apps dont backup as thouroughly as Clockworkmod or Team Win...just a thought. It would be nice to wake up each day and be able to flash myself silly 0) without worring if I had done a nandroid recently or not....
Any ldeas?

No I do not think that can be done or has been done till date.
Why would you want to do that? One backup for me takes over 3gb of space.. Not sure about you but 3gb of space is way too much space for a backup. Just imagine 2 or 3 backups saved..

[Q] custom gapps with purchased apps

i want to make a custom gapps.zip with purchased apps. its only for my own phone (same google-acount). i dont want to reinstall all apps, it needs to many time.
how can i extract/porting purchased apps from my phone for a custom gapp-zip?
i only know, i can use an original gapp-zip but cant rezip it, have to open it with winrar and drag`n`drop it... right?
i want to do this because i want to be the maintainer of the HTC One X (endearovu) and dont have a second one... not enough money... but next month i buy a second
its NOT for ilegal use!!!
You can make a new one for your system and user apps. If you know anything about using adb you can manually make flashable zips of your apps and read how to use adb from here.
http://varunbpatil.github.io/2013/03/02/apps-zip/
If you want to use an app to automatically do it you can try ZipMe app from the Google Play Store. I don't know how good it is. I use titanium backup most times. Test it on one app first. ZipMe has worked on my phone.
Make a zip of apps or data or apps + data and then copy it to sd card or to a usb storage then you can flash it using a custom recovery or some other way. Titanium Backup Pro can do it but it's the paid version that has the extra things like making zips.
You can make a nandroid backup then use the nandroid manager app to extract apps and data from the nandroid backup.
I would wipe cache and dalvik cache when flashing any zips before restarting or while in recovery before starting

Go to Menu, Batch Actions.
Make a backup of any apps and data you want.
Go to Menu, Batch Actions.
In Recovery spot create an update.zip
Select the apps you want and name the zip.
Don't select exclude system APKs
Check sign with Zip file (with zipsigner)
It goes into sdcard folder then you can flash the file when you want to.

@cyrok
It is courier or haze font.
I can't get it to let me install the courier, and app force closes if i try to install that one. I can't install that font again to see which of the two it is. It is one of those from the app Font Installer root.
thats great ^^ i found the deathnote font!!! thx ^^
great app!

The font looks a little different on one deathnote than the tablet ? I use CloudyG3 rom , dorimamx kernel and twrp recovery. I like to switch between different roms and try different ones so i have ways to backup and restore everything to new one.

thats a great thing to switch but i am more PAC rom specific link
jyes if you see the fine deathnote font on a 10" screen with 1280x800 where the fine lines betwen the pixels goes lost and see the font (theoretical... dont works ) on a 720p screen with 4,7" that can show the fine lines...
however it feels stupid to use an tablet with a lower resolution than my phone...
