Note 5 Dilemma - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note5

So i'm on the UPD1 baseband and would like to get to the latest. The only problem is that my Note 5 no longer rapid charges and can't be detected properly from any pc with any micro usb cable, samsung or not. I'm rooted and with TWRP and so I can flash almost any ROM but would like to possibly get it to to the latest firmware update especially if I need to return it and get a replacement. I'd also like to be able to root it, any ideas on doing this with out odin?

I would say make a backup of your ROM now. Then flash the ROM with a full wipe and reboot. Or you can just do a factory reset to see if your system fixes after that. But you do have to make a backup first. Now remember if you upgrade to the latest you cannot downgrade back again. Now if you get your phone working again (with connection to PC) then I would like to ask you to do me a favor and make a backup of your rooted, factory reset stock DP1 ROM via TWRP and send to me? I'm trying to see if we can downgrade form MM to LL via TWRP with a rooted stock ROM from someone that's still on LL. We who are on MM cannot downgrade. I can give you all the steps you need to do so in order for you to send a clean stock ROM without your data if you need me to. Send me an IM if interested.

[Q] Trying to install 4.3 OTA

My phone is rooted, and has TWRP custom recovery installed.
The phone automatically downloaded the OTA, and tried to install it. With TWRP, the update failed and my phone is working fine now.
I don't need the rooting anymore (was for teetering, but with new data plan it's now included). So I'm okay with losing the root and all.
Using SuperSU I deselected the rooting, and after reboot RootCheck tells me my phone is not rooted. I still have TWRP installed.
Now, I'm stock MF1/ 4.1.2. How do I install the 4.3 update and remove the TWRP recovery? I found in another thread the 4.3 Tar file. Do I simply use Odin on my PC and flash it on my phone? What about TWRP?

Are you sure you want the 4.3, this latest rom will lock your bootloader permanently, meaning you will NOT able to install CWM,TWRP, custom rom/kernel or downgrade the OS to the early version. The only thing you can do once updated is root. If you still decided to upgrade, just Odin the full rom MF1 here http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23134718111254196 then after bootup your OS should auto update to the latest (OTA).

I had the same question myself, and have been proverbially "running around in circles" today (instead of working). Anybody have success flashing said Odin file and then upgrading via the OTA?
Ha! I came from a mytouch3g years ago, flashing incessantly. I got this phone so i could stop. Then rooted to take the ads away, and got a bit more than I bargained for... now I just want back on OTA stock.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Cheers

if you download this full firmware http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23134718111254196 unzip the file then use Odin to flash, this will bring you back to pure stock rom with stock recovery (no more twrp/cwm). After this you will be prompt for OTA and just take the upgrade. Once done you should be on the latest factory 4.3 with locked bootloader.
I ended up downloading the 4.3 files from another post here, and flashing it with Odin. Worked fine.
Of course, without a root, can't recover my apps from Titanium but oh well.

Why don't you just root with saferoot found here?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758
I wish I would have found this thread before starting my own... woops. Anyway I would like to install 4.3 and I too rooted with twrp. I don't care anymore if I am rooted or not. I stopped flashing roms and such a while back and will be upgrading this next year to the s5 most likely.
Is there a way to install 4.3 w/out removing root? If not, since I never used odin, and used twrp what steps do/should I take to get back to where I can install 4.3?
Thank you.

Since your life is too busy and you don't want to mess with your phone anymore, your best bet is go back to stock 4.3 which is very good by the way, very stable, smooth and bug free. After so many complaints from my wife I rolled it back to stock 4.3 and she's so happy now.
1. Flash stock MF1 here http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23134718111254196 , just unzip the flash with Odin
2. Your phone should take the 4.3 OTA update and you're home free.

[Q] 4.4.4 OTA Update from 4.4.2 rooted and unlocked with Mods

Thank you guys in advance for your help but I just had a few questions. I am running 4.4.2 currently with the stock rom rooted and unlocked bootloader. I have however issued a few Mods such as extreme power saving and built in tether. Can I just load the 4.4.4 firmware and radios, switch back to stock recovery and take the OTA to 4.4.4 without having to wipe anything or since I have used some mods do I now have to wipe my device and put everything back after getting the 4.4.4 update. The reason I ask is I like having the stock features while just using google now launcher on top of sense. Also would any of you have a recommendation on a ROM to achieve this same thing so I dont have to go through this everytime I want to take the newest OTA if it is not possible to take without wiping.

Flash the ruu here. That will get you to 4.4.3 the easy way and make you 100% stock so you can take the ruu. Then flash twrp and flash su or the rooted Rom of your choosing.
The RUU is one way to go, although I would never update via OTA...
Another would be to flash the firmware and radios from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723159
And then Scott's rooted stock rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2914922
He usually has them up a few hours after a new OTA has been released. Even better - try his stock, debloated CleanROM once it's out.
This way you can keep your recovery. You can even try to just flash the 4.4.4 firmware and radios and see if it runs your current 4.2 ROM ok. But I would not update the rom from version to version without a wipe.
The setup is the price to pay for getting a new and hopefully better Android version.

[Q] Help Req: Updating Rooted/CWM MotoG to Lollipop

Hi,
I have a UK Moto G (2013) running 4.4.4 KitKat and I installed CWM recovery and rooted it some time ago. Now they are pushing out Lollipop OTA I am getting nagged by the phone to update - but, it always fails when I try. Presumably this will be because of the CWM and/or root. I tried a full unroot but that didn't help as CWM kept complaining on the upgrade reboot about something (can't remember what now!). I've read that in order to get the OTA update to work, I have to get the phone completely back to stock, but I can't find a working stock recovery for it. Do I have to take it back to stock or not ? Either way, would anyone know how I can get the OTA update to work please ?
I've tried flashing a couple of stock recoveries, but one fails to flash at all and the other doesn't work - you choose recovery and it just reboots the phone.
At the moment it's back to rooted, unlocked bootloader and CWM recovery.
Any help you could offer would be very gratefully received.
Thanks!
Are you able to locate the phone's from here: http://www.filefactory.com/folder/c6cdedc45a775d27/?sort=filename&order=ASC&show=100&page=1

Trying to get my phone back to stock

Hello,
I rooted my s5 way back when it first came out but I haven't upgraded the firmware at all. From what I remember I had trouble installing a custom recovery so the phone is only rooted. I would like to bring it up to the most current version of android. What's the easiest way to do that? I'm on baseband version G900PVPUIAND2.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I found this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2742994 which had a link to the stock factory image but sammobile doesn't seem to be hosting it anymore. Is there another reliable place that I can get it? Or would just doing a factory reset of my phone make it so I can start taking OTA's again?
The latest stock firmware for G900V is Marshmallow QC1. You can download it here and use ODIN to flash it:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767155677
If you want to root it you can use CF-Autoroot in ODIN. This will trip Knox if not already tripped (but probably doesn't matter on an older phone like this).
https://download.chainfire.eu/408/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-kltespr-kltespr-smg900p.zip
If you want to install TWRP you can use ODIN again:

Good luck.

S8+ Flashing rom with bad port

So pretty sure the daughter board for usb is bad in my S8, I keep seeing the moisture warning message. Occasionally the message will go away so I try and plug the phone in to which I get an error in Windows that the "Device Descriptor" error, so basically Windows can't tell what it is, even trying to set the drivers myself made no difference. I've also tried in download mode but still get the same error.
I'm currently on PartyCyborg(With SS) so I can't take the official ota like I was going to as it errors out.
Can I flash a stock rom through flashfire or any other methods to get me back to stock and then I'll take the OTA? Just through my brief research I see that alot of people suggest to only flash system.img or AP and to not try and flash bootloader or anything else.
Any suggestions?
Same rom zip file can be flashed via flashfire but if u to go back to stock, then via Odin flash complete latest firmware of your region
I cant odin because the port is bad, Im stuck on PartyCyborg because I cant take an OTA so Im trying to get back to stock which I need to atleast flash my bootloader, I'm running factory binary basically for BL and think that's why it fails to update
