Fingerprint Lock - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I am on an AT&T Galaxy S7 that's rooted, and I wanted to know if there was any way to bypass the accessibility thing where if you give an app accessibility permissions, then you can't unlock the phone with just your fingerprint. This is really irritating and I wanted to know if there's an Xposed mod for it, or if there's a bypass for this. thank you!

what accessibility you talk about ?

I hate that too. In my launcher (smart launcher 3) I lock the screen just swiping down. But after that, the fingerprint unlock function doesn't work ?

Well, i use Nova launcher and lock the screen with a double tap. My finger print scanner works just fine

This issue is present in the S6! Didn't know it was also present on the S7!
Does this happen on other phones like the G5, HTC 10, OnePlus 3, etc?

Try Screen Lock Pro to lock the screen. Remember to enable Smart lock and Fingerprint sensor setting in the app.
The screen goes black and there is a slight delay in locking but it still works well for me.
Just noticed your S7 is rooted, I think there were more options for rooted devices, didn't check as mine isn't rooted. Screen Lock pro works without root as well.

Finger print unlock is lagging for me. On other phones I just need to touch the home key or scanning area, not physically hold it down to unlock? Anyway to unlock when touching it?

It's an Android thing. I think since marshmallow came out.

This is a safety measure implemented by google on Marshmallow. Pretty Stupid and useless. There is an xposed module called "fingerprintEnabler" that fixes it

Fingerprint Scanner Dilemma

So, the Android M launched and it sports fingerprint recognition, thats awesome.
Our phone do have the hardware, but what about accessibility?
I mean when samsung pushes the M update to S6, will the scanner use Google APIs or Samsung APIs for the recognition?
If it uses Samsung APIs then I think we may not be able to use the services provided by google for the fingerprint scanner.
Also, a lot of Devs will be creating apps based on fingerprint recognition using Google's API, will our phone scanner be able to make use of it?
What do you think guys...
Im sure it will be supported. Granted there are not many devices that actually have a scanner but but im sure google would want those that do to be able to access the new finger print features/services so would make an effort to support all hardware

I believe they're working on the StockAndroid APIs on the next big update.
Samsung had to use its own version since Google did not have APIs, yet.

I would love to see Samsung's take on Google's Fingerprint API. The tap-fingerprint to wake up thingy featured on the new Nexus' while the device is asleep is a big thumbs up for me.

Not seen that feature, you mean the screen won't wake up until you use your fingerprint on scanner?

Well, I was watching the recap of the Google press event awhile ago and the guy who presented the new Nexus 5X and 6P tapped the Fingerprint dimple and the device woke up instantly. No need to press the power button then tap the fingerprint scanner to unlock.

Ah I see.. thanks for the reply.
Not seen anything on the 6P yet, my other half loved her old nexus. Might be worth me having a look as Christmas is coming and her S5 is falling apart.

My S6 already does this :/ turn on wake on home press.
as for samsung using googles api, they will. Why would they reinvent the wheel when they can do less work, which decreases the chance for bugs and shortens production time.

Its a recap of the event. Watch closely at the part when the guy(Forgive me for not knowing his name. Yep, shame shame. xD) tapped his index finger at the dimple. The device wakes up and automatically unlocks the device.
Edit: BTW, the Nexus 5X packs the same fingerprint sensor.

Well, on the new Nexus' you don't need to press the power button then tap the fingerprint scanner to unlock your device, just place your finger on the scanner to wake up and straight unlock your device. Wouldn't that be handy if Samsung can implement the same technique where all you need to do place your chosen finger on the scanner without pressing the home button then straight unlock.

Yep that would be awesome feature to have.
I hope samsung will continue with Google APIs so that we will be able to use all the fingerprint features that Android M will be offering

LG V10 Marshmellow incoming for Verizon, Others to Follow?

Per this patch note http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/lg-v10-update/?skiptag=1 looks like Verizon will be getting marshmallow on their LG V10 beginning today. Will other carriers follow? I have reached out to T-Mobile for more information on the progress of theirs.

fingerprint scanner borked after update?
scanner doesn't unlock phone unless phone was locked by the timer..? if i turn off the screen or close it with the power button, it won't unlock with the finger print scanner... anyone else? (i've dropped and readded fingerprints, both as a result of deleting and readding as well as adding them as a result of turning off and back on the pin code)
is it me or is this real life?

Experiencing the same issue here...
After a reboot I cannot unlock with fingerprint, after the initial unlock it works fine.
I know for a fact my carrier will not be getting this update. I use a regional carrier and they never push out updates, the only way I'm ever able to update my phone is if a Verizon update works on it, or a bootloader unlock becomes available and I can flash an updated ROM.

I really don't notice much different after the update. I wonder if lg/Verizon blocked some of the features. For example, I don't have the option to format the SD card as internal storage.

Doze and finger print. Scanner compatibility are the only two major upgrades..

For those having fingerprint unlock troubles here, I'll simply note that in the Verizon V10 forum they've only been reporting improved fingerprint scanners. Not sure why you both are having that issue, but it by no means common, and it is unlikely that solely the update caused the problem.
This update screwed up the bluetooth again that they fixed in the little scanner update a few months back, it no longer will play music from my 2014 Chevy Silverado via mylink, it connects fine, shows the music playing, but no sound will come from the speakers
Carrier models are being updated ahead of international variant, coming from HTC I see this very oddly.

The fingerprint scanner didn't unlock consistently after the update for me, I was running Nova prime, I reverted back to the stock launcher and the issue disappeared.
the issue with the fingerprint scanner is due to nova launcher... if you remove it, it will work just fine... until nova updates, thats the only option!

WhatsApp and other App notifications not showing.

Hey there guys,
I tried the search function but couldn't get much info on my issue to be honest, I'm on mobile so it was also a bit harder to try narrow it down.
I got the Mate 8 this past Friday and I've been trying to get the notifications to come up on the lock screen and can't seem to get it sorted. I just moved from an S4 with CM on it and even other Android phones have it where if say you get a WhatsApp message it will show up in a sort of card that you can expand or swipe away. How do I enable this because I'm obviously missing something here.
I read somewhere that it says you have to take the lock screen off, however I can't seem to do that, that option says it's either blocked by administrator or something.
Any help would be appreciated guys.
Unfortunately there's no complete solution for this, that's why I sold mine and bought a Samsung phone
Oh Alright, I'm not too worried I guess and I love the phone too much to do something like that  Well I'll make a plan.
Thanks for the reply.
Just search forum. there is a few solution for it. Notification issues for WhatsApp vanished.

PSA: Latest Good Lock version ships with bug that keeps flashlight on forever

Don't install the latest Good Lock update. Turning on the flashlight makes it stay on indefinitely. The only way to turn it off is to reset your device.
Anyone else have this issue or a workaround?

If I swipe down from the stop and turn the flashlight on using the quick button, a new notification pops up saying the torch is on. Pressing the quick button again has no effect for me. Tapping "turn off" on the notification doesn't work either.
Use the edge panel to turn it off, now it should work as expected.
no problem here
Works for me, I noticed that after uninstalling my phone got noticeably faster and everything became smoother.. I'm not reinstalling

Fingerprint quick action

Just tried this app and it seems to work with our fingerprint scanner. I set the Tap option to 'go home' and the swipe option to 'expand notifications panel, both of which are working well.
And double tap to sleep is working also.

Mate, if you are using Jio I think I might be able to help you on that AOSP rom
First : go to setting and then to SIM cards
Second : Select the SIM slot in which Jio is inserted
Third : Go to access point names and start creating new APN
Fourth : Set the Name and APN as jionet(basically both need to be the same and you can set anything you want)
Fifth : Now without altering anything to scroll down and change APN protocol and only that to IPv4 and save the APN and make it the main one
I think that will solve the custom ROM incompatibility of Jio sim
Guys, could you check if this app does effect the battery life or etc?
Also does it require root?

It's available in play store so it's universal i think. It would work on any phone with a fp sensor i think.
