ok first things first, i am sorry if started a thread that already exists for my query, but i tried my best looking for the answer to my question but didnt get it here on xda...hence the new thread.
Now, lets get down to business, i have a SGS i9003 with gingerbread 2.3.6 DDKP4, and superoneclick just wont root my device can anyone help here?
Also, i am a complete noob when it comes to rooting / modding / flashing ..so please bear with me, in-fact i would appreciate if the seniors could please guide me to a thread where i can learn about them all (wrt my device)

Use universal cf root by amit.bagaria.. It is for every gingerbread firmware.
You will find the thread in the android development section.
Just follow the instructions and ur device is rooted.

I tried looking for custom roms here and there but most needed a firmware which i dont have, mine is ddkp3...what do i do about it
Also, could someone be kind enough to tell me what is deodex?and how do i do it?

There are many custom roms available in the development thread.
And deodexing; it is simple.. The .apk are stored in our device with a .odex file too and it cant be modified.
But after deodexing!! You can apply themes, and other stuff mod. Is possiple.
To deodex use .zip files by ganeshbiyer in the development thread!!

My device is finally rooted AND deodexed !
how do i apply themes ? i have downloaded one from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405555&page=7 so do i install it just like any other app ? how do i go back to the stock theme afterwards ?
Also, PLEASE tell me how do i flash ROM's ?
Any help would be appreciated

First thing is it should be compatible with ur firmware!!
If yes then flash it using CWM as flash zip from sd card..
To revert back you should make a backup using CWM!

Miui is not rom specific!!!
You can flash XXKPQ then flash MIUI!.
Its not like you can only install it on 1 rom, it itself is a rom which when flashed removes old rom.
Ypu can flash MIUI if you want...

I mean to say that you can have MIUI in ur i9003!!!!
Just think of MIUI as another firmware(we call it rom)
You can flash it in CWM
Just download MIUI put it in ur external sd go to CWM flash it as a zip and you are done...
No need to flash xxkpq or anything else
And pls do read that at the moment some things do not work in MIUI(you can read it in the first post of MIUI) so do not ask about them as those queries will not be entertained

Your post title is misleading Edit the post title to DDKP3 which is the latest,
the pda version determines the gingerbread version which is ddkp3 only there is no ddkp4 pda as of now.
Your post when googled will show wrong info thus misleading 1000s of people who will keep on searching for DDKP4.

I am on ddkp3 i have download vurrut kernel v2 and JP MIUI V8.5, am i ready to go now ?
i am currently on a custom rom with amit bagaria CF root and deodexed (thanks to rohan !)

Yes you need data wipe and dalvik wipe. Updating miui just wipe cache. U juz nid cf root. Pls learn to read and search in the appropriate threads before asking

Just make a backup using CWM.(recommended)
And if you need apps to be restored then make backup using titanium backup.
And then you r ready to go!
Just factory reset,wipe catche,dalvik catche,battery stats.
Then go to recovery and flash as install zip from sd card.
No need to flash vurrut kernel as it is included in v8.5!!!

For restoring apps:
again install titanium backup.
And then u will be able to restore!!

For reverting back to stock;
Flash uc kernel v9 and just restore the backup u made using CWM.

U need to flash the kernel you made the backup with and restore from there. Or just do a clean flash. No, no update.zip. Before I play around with my phone I do a lot of research beforehand. You should too.

didnt hear bout app to do screenshots without root
im not sure but combo power+vol down buttons in same time should works, in rooted device this works, let me know :good:

which android version is on ur tablet?
if stock 4.1.2 i prefer framaroot here is link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ae3k0c1zjbb4910/Framaroot-1.4.1.apk u have just to install this apk n press 1st one way smt on a****, sorry dont remember name, after that just reboot n this should works
or flash this one in cwm: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1apsgv3es7ixoeh/superuser.zip

I am a newbie to all such stuff. i installed the MIUIv5 rom on my a110. the installation was successful but since then i cannot install any app, neither from the sd card nor from the play store. I have even tried installing other custom roms but the problem persists. Please help me out.

well, under my picture of transformers, there is a thank button. that is the one.
dont forget to check if ur camera is working. sometimes it doesnt work

maybe that is one of the bugs of that rom. i assure u it has nothing to do with kernel. u cud try a foolproof bugless rom like me.

Please flash Philz recovery 6.57.9 - cwm 6.0.5.1 based form here
use sp flash tool for flashing
backup ur current rom on sd card and internal both (for safty)
wipe data, format system
flash MIUI now
try if camera working
if yes continue using it
if not
goto recovery
flash attached file
now try if camera working (also check other things like wifi BT sd card)
if working continue using it:laugh:
if still not working just restore ur previous taken backup
Please report every step and its results as soon u try:good:

Yes I know this issue and already mentioned it here.
I never faced such issue so i dont know the exact workout.
so u on KK base rom.
u flashed philz recovery (please confirm only recovery or uboot and boot.img provided with it)
then u backed up ur kk rom.
wipe data, format system
flash miui rom
booted but no camera working.
Have u tried flashing the uboot given in above post. (JB uboot)
I am asking u whole procedure cause if i want to find a definite solution i need to know what things are lacking.
i hope u got my point.
I read somewhere that uboot.bin is the file responsible for camera working when rom switchs.
So my request to u is try flashing first JB uboot.zip from recovery and then flash MIUI rom and try for camera.
If not working then try flashing uboot.bin given with philz recovery.
I know its not easy to try but i cant do it as i dont get this issue.
Otherwise u need to flash the whole KK rom from flash tools and then recovery flashing and then JB rom flashing (as i explained in post of JB & KK rom switching)

Kitkat based MIUI is not yet released for all devices except xiaomi devices.
As soon as it is released i wil port it to our device:good:

Yes just flash uboot.img of jellybean.
Micromax Canvas Spark 3 Q385 custom recovery TWRP. Try at your own risk your device must be rooted for installing this if not use king root (Source: Kingroot official) to root it first.
Flash it using flahsify directly

Firstly thankyou very much for this recovery but maybe it has bug plz solve this recovery is booting only first time after flashing , I tried many method for flashing it
Rashr,fastboot,spdupgrade tool but it works only for first time?
And plz plz also port custom ROM for Micromax canvas spark 3 (q385) plz bro

Hello,
I've an updated version of recovery, previous one having that bug of working for once only.
If you want i can share you updated one as well.

I tired to try many key combinations but it will restart phone not opens recovery.........

What happened exactly?
Bootloop coz of recovery
Btw you can get into recovery by power + volume up
It's bit different from other device so you have to learn it first

I Mean to say how go into recovery mode while phone is on bootloop or stuck on boot logo with non-removable battery

Still Working on cm, For now I've Nova Hero S5 only , i didn't found it much impressive so i started working on cm .

You've deal with the combination of power+volume up. Press power first then volume up (very quickly) to get into twrp

It's ported for our device and I'd tested it personally.
I'll post it asap, it's a long process to upload 700mb.
