[Completed] Basic to root or not to root dilemia - XDA Assist

I have at&t i337 Ver 5.0.1 firmware OK2. Out of contract
I want to rid myself of the bloatware, my principal objective.
I worry about not getting security updates once rooted, (even though at&t is not quick about doing updates anyway). Do I just track the forums here to look for updates? Will i have to go back to kitkat for every update.
And second I have a mac air computer, so odin may not be easily done without ready access to a pc.. I understand I have to odin back to 4.4.4 and then update with rooted rom.
Thanks for your all's opinion.

[Completed] Problems rooting S5 Active

I've recently upgraded phones and have decided to root my S5 active. Unfortunately, I am not running the NE4 version of the firmware, therefore, I am not able to use Towelroot. I've done quite a bit of digging trying to solve the problem to no avail. I've tried using Odin to either downgrade my firmware or install a custom/rooted firmware but Odin gives an "Auth" fail. I've done as much research as I can into why I get an auth fail and nothing I've seen suggested has helped. I've tried installing firmware through the SD card, looked into sideloading firmware but that seems to be only for updates as far as I can tell. I am well and truly at a loss and was hoping someone could help.

[Completed] root for Galaxy J3 (SM-J320VPP) - android 6.0.1 - pre-paid Verizon network

can anyone give me some step by steps for rooting this phone? i've been on the google all day now and nothing has worked.
i've tried supposed 1-click methods like kingroot, king-O-root and towelroot. each one fails.
i've also tried slightly more advanced method where you use odin to install a custom recovery thingy and then subsequently install SuperSU using the recovery booting up mode, but odin would "FAIL" too.
as you can tell i'm not savvy as far as all the terminology is concerned but i've been troubleshooting and building PCs (windoze T_T) since i was 11. these smart phones are a whole nother ball game though.
i'm not scared to get my hands dirty i just need a method and/or resources that actually WORK.
help me xda, you're my only hope....

[Completed] Need stock factory firmware for Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 "10 (YT3-X50L)

I haven't found stock firmware anywhere yet.
The reason why I'm asking this is that I can't update OTA to my tablet.
I get (status 7) error when I try to update OTA: System has been remounted R/W; reflash device to re-enable OTA updates...
I even went that far that I rooted my device and tried flashfire but even that didn't help to install OTA. (I wasn't rooted before today and same status 7 error all the time)

[Completed] Trying to root the old Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000

Hi all,
I've recently been through a couple of different guides to root/unlock network and maybe flash a newer operating system than gingerbread, but unsuccessful so far.
This particular model seems like it's a European version as it's defaults were Nederlands and I'm in the UK. Can anyone confirm as to whether it's possible to root this
device or at least unlock it in someway as it's locked to EE but originally T-Mobile, it also asks to enter Network Lock Control Key even after going through the procedure to root.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
