[SOLVED] Boot loop after trying to root! - T-Mobile LG G5 Questions & Answers

So I followed the instructions EXACTLY as said.
All went well until I had to boot into TWRP, from there I was bootlooping and getting the "Boot Verification Error...MISMATCH_SIG_LEN"
I followed another set of instructions to follow the same steps but instead flash the stock tot.
So I did that, but about 5 seconds after pressing "start" I get some antirollback error (posted image below)
Ive tried flasing via the upgrade option, as well as the refurbish option
Ive done a ton of searching and I found noooo solution
Please help :crying: :crying:
[UPDATE]
Alright guys, so I started getting frustrated and adventurous lol, and after a good amount of digging I found a solution.
So the antirollback is basically just a feature preventing downgrades from what Ive gathered, meaning you cant flash the stock TOT file that a couple people suggested (THIS IS IF YOU'RE ON 10D BTW AND TRIED TO USE THE ROOT METHOD) because its a 10a software.
So I decided to search for a 10d stock tot file (with no avail) BUT i came across a 10d stock kdz file, which absolutely got the job done.
So just download the kdz file and flash it using lgup
Link to the the kdz file: here
I tried to make this as thorough as possible for noobs like me lol

TWRP for 5.0 D800 G2s

This post is to get TWRP running properly on a G2 that has updated to 5.0
There is an apk called autorec.apk that is supposed to install TWRP, and it does, but when you reboot, it gives you a security error and shuts the phone down. Basically soft bricks it. This method is what i used to install twrp and allow flashing of custom ROMs.
First, downgrading to 4.4.2 is not only fairly easy, it is also necessary to get TWRP working properly.
Download and install the LG flashing tool here
then do the same with the LG driver found here
Then youre going to need 2 files for the flashing tool
1: LG Flashing dll
2: the 4.4.2 image that the flashing tool installs here
instructions for using the flashing tool are found here
Make sure to follow all of the instructions including changing the port # for the device to 41
After flashing back to 4.4.2, using towleroot to root takes mere seconds to complete
after that, download TWRP and place the file somewhere easily located on your phone.
Install Flashify, and use it to flash the TWRP 2.8.6.0 D800 image file for your custom recovery.
VERY IMPORTANT!! Reboot your phone to recovery and once in recovery, be sure to reboot recovery from within TWRP before rebooting system.
After that is done, you are ready to flash custom ROMs.
This is the procedure I used and it worked like a charm. There might be other methods that work, but this one positively worked for me on the D800 i dealt with.
I know this set of instructions isnt as pretty as other tutorials, but it works. Let me know if you have any issues with the links or process.
The way I have done it on my 5.0 d800 G2, first root with One Click root from Windows, then install SuperSU from play store, autorec, then install TWRP. No problems whatsoever.
Im glad that your method worked for you! The G2 i was working on belonged to a friend of mine and it kept bootlooping using your method. So, i guess for those who encounter the same issue that I did, they can use the method listed above

Rooting 10D with tot issues

Has anyone successfully rooted 10d with the tot method? My phone always fails to boot. I get a red boot method saying boot verification failed. I've followed the instructions exactly on the guide posted in the dev section. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Thanks.
You might of forgotten to unlock boot loader first? Or forgot to check off USB Debugging? I had a similar problem. I solved it by using LGUP to flash stock tot. Then I retraced my steps and start all over again. Step by step.
Yes u need to fastboot oem unlock
Your bootloader before hand or it will fail

I'm having the same issue. I was able to flash the kdz after a lot of headache and reinstalls. That reset my phone as it was supposed to. I then unlocked my bootloader again and tried flashing the tot but no, it fails every time. My computer just broke down too so I'm completely stuck in limbo now.
Sent from my LG-H830 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I could be mistaken, but I think once you upgrade to 10D without following @autoprime instructions you're stuck.

Lg G5 Boot loop HELP

So yes I can't remember if I had unlocked it or not. Right now I am stuck in bootloop with red small txt i can't even read. Guessing its boot failure. I tried doing what ppl have said by downloading a full tot but LGup keeps telling me anti rollback ver is smaller than the device version. I am stuck and need help plz.
Im in the same boat as you bro
Any luck?
Same thing happened to me.
You have to unlock the bootloader before flashing the tot file.
I rolled back to orig firmware using kdz file from lg, unlocked bootloader then followed rooting instructions.
All rooted now.

Bootloop after root attempt

I just tried using the G5 root method described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g5/development/root-h830-t3384526 and now my phone is stuck in a bootloop with error 820 Boot verification fail. Is there any way to flash back the stock rom or get out of this bootloop?
Sounds like either-
a) your download of the TOT file was incomplete
b) the flash failed
c) you were running a different software version than the TOT expected
I would flash the 10D KDZ using LGUP to start from stock.
Files can be found here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...ock-h830-10d-rom-flashable-zips-imgs-t3406505
Flash the H83010d_00_0523.kdz using the REFURBISH option (note, you will lose all your data on the phone)
Then I would follow the root guide here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...p-step-guides-rooting-t-mobile-lg-g5-t3388272
It uses the same TOT posted by tungkick.
Good Luck!

Which links? They all seem to work fine....
The codefire links can be a little picky; I think I had to use IE to finally get them to work.
I have the root-guide links mirrored here-

Problem after flashing firmware and skipping Supersu

So recently I wanted to flash 20a via twrp on my G5 but it wasn't working. I reflashed 10i and my phone didn't want to boot up. So I decided to charge my phone after reflashing 10i once again without flashing supersu and I powered off the device and it turned back on with the "Your device is corrupt and it cannot be trusted sign" and so I tried to boot to recovery and my phone just factory reseted itself. I tried to boot into recovery with adb but to no avail. I even tried to flash 10d kdz and 10d tot both getting an error on LGUP and my phone is still stuck on firmware 10i. I even get an error when trying to update it with stock recovery. So now I have a phone with an unlocked boot loader and I cannot reroot again. Is there a way I can regain root? I knew I should have flashed supersu

I bet you didn't followed or read the 20a thread by autoprime nor did you bothered to read the TWRP thread as well. there's still a bug that prohibits you to downgrade from 20a unless you have a nandroid backup or a twrp recovery backup for the 10i. best option for now is to go back to 20a and wait for an update from the devs on fixing TWRP or try to follow the dirtycow method.

Look under the dev thread on autoprime topic about the stock N zips, if you read through last few pages you'll find all the links you need for recowvery to get root and twrp. Also if you're on 10i, why not just use lg up (make sure you either use older version or autoprime uppercut app) to flash 10D tot that already has twrp and then upgrade to stock 7 through twrp. Either way, all the info you need should be in last 3 pages of that thread by autoprime.
*** Edit ***
Just reread your post. If your getting errors flashing the 10D tot it's most likely due to you updating lg up, the .DLL, etc to install N. If so, uninstall lg up, and then download the lg up files and. DLL from the 10D thread. You can try uppercut app too as it's supposed to work between versions but I have not tested it myself. If all else fails then use the recowvery method.

I've tried uppercut and I still get errors. I want to downgrade using the kdz file but the link is broken for me. Though I will try an older version of lgup. Thanks :good:

Yeah not sure about uppercut. If you're still on 10i you should be fine using lgup to downgrade as long as you use the right version of lgup and h830 .DLL file. Also I'm not sure you can use refurbish option with kdz, but I know you can with tot. So maybe downgrade to 10D using tot and upgrade through twrp. If all else fails, use the recowvery steps on the above linked thread and you should be all good. Quick question, when you first start your phone, does it just show phone can not be checked for corruption or does it show the message can't be checked for corruption and visit this site... Etc. ? Reason I ask is the second message is updated bootloader and you won't be able to use lg up to flash MM firmware until you downgrade your bootloader.

Updated bootloader? I had no idea that was a problem. But since I'm on 20a i get the corruption message plus the link so O guess my bootloader is upgraded. How exactly DO you downgrade the bootloader?
I will mention that I'm stuck without twrp

Okay since you have an upgraded bootloader and no twrp you will have to follow the steps in that post for recowvery which will give you Root and twrp. Once you have twrp, download the bootloader zip for whichever version you're planning on downgrading to (I.e. 10I bootloader if flashing 10i kdz) from autoprime and flash in twrp. You can also flash the complete zip (i.e. 10I complete zip) in twrp after flashing the 10I bootloader if you want to keep root and twrp (you will also have to flash SuperSU after flashing those files). But you can also flash kdz or tot with lg up after downgrading bootloader via twrp but you will lose root and twrp unless you flash 10D rooted tot.

The thread is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g5/development/stock-h830-20a-rom-flashable-zips-imgs-t3511294
If you're just trying to get twrp and root to downgrade look at the last 5 or so pages and look for the recowvery post. Once you do that visit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g5/development/stock-h830-10j-rom-flashable-zips-imgs-t3491363
and download the bootloader zip and then boot into twrp and flash the bootloader zip. Then you can use lg up to flash kdz file or tot file. If you want to do everything from twrp and skip lg up step just download the complete zip from the 10J thread and flash in twrp after flashing bootloader, then if you want to keep twrp and root make sure after flashing bootloader and complete zip in twrp flash SuperSU before rebooting.

I don't think so but not 100% sure. If you follow the steps carefully you'll be fine. I didn't directly post the recowvery steps as I have not used this (I've had twrp and root since 10D). You can look on the v20 thread as it has a post for the v20 and our h830 recowvery method. Sorry I can't be more help with that specifically.
