[Q] What is the best method for rooting AT&T S5 Active Without Tripping Knox? - General Questions and Answers

I am looking for a guide for rooting a AT&T S5 Active without tripping knox.
I would prefer a exploit method that does not involve flashing the firmware or installing a custom kernel. I am not looking to drastically modify my operating system but rather just get SU shoveled in there so i can utilize some more advanced networking and server utilities

Galaxy S5 Root and Questions

I own a Samsung Galaxy S5 and I want to root to get full functionality from the device. I have read several root guides but they seem to be very old. Things like Towelroot I have read doesn't work anymore.
So if someone can give me a link or post and effective and up to date guide for rooting would be great.
I also have a few questions about rooting.
1. I have heard that some roots trip Samsung Knox so I need a root that wont do this
2. What does the Knox flag 0x1 actually do to the device other than void warrenty? I have heard it permanently disables Samsung services for the phone/tablet like Kies and adds warnings to the boot screen, but I don't know if this is true.
3. I want to get Android updates for security and such, will a small update cause unroot? (I will also upgrade to Android 6.0 if/when its available for the S5 and I know upgrade will unroot)
If there is a chance of tripping Knox I will not root. I also want to be able to return the phone back to exact stock software, settings and flags as before it was rooted if I choose to.
Phone info:
AT&T S5
Model: SAMSUNG-SM-G900A
Android version: 5.1.1
Baseband version: G900AUCU4COI5
Kernel version: 3.4.0-5869384
KNOX version
KONX 2.5
Standard SDK 4.5.0
Premium SDK 2.5.0
ect...
Don't root!!
I've got the same problem as you brother. I've got the same phone specs. I think we are out of luck right now. Attempting anything is probably a really bad idea.
But I second this call for help, I'm curious to know if there is anything that can be done.
@Woogoo as of now you can't root the AT&T S5 latest OS so don't try...

Is there anyway to root s6 on 5.1.1 without trip knox???

Hey, i got my samsung galaxy s6 new but its on 5.1.1, dont know why i though it will be on 5.0.2 but it is on 5.1.1 :crying:
Is there anyway to root my s6 without trip knox?? I dont want to loose my fingerprint scanner but i really want to root, is there any way???
The modelnumber is SM-G920F and the android version is 5.1.1 and my my basebandversion is G920FXXU3COI9
no sorry not as yet
You will not loose the fingerprint scanner if you root, only Samsung Pay and a few other apps require knox.
In the q&a from the pingpong root thread there is written:
Q: How to root 5.1.1 then since PingPong root will never work?
WARNING: User report that fingerprint sensor and incoming call stop working after using the engineering sboot.
A: The classic recovery root method. You shall find details in many other posts. If you are T-Mobile user, lucky for you that there is a leaked engineering bootloader which make root a piece of cake without tripping Knox warranty bit:

Rooting

Hello! I am very new to Samsung devices and I've done some searching on how to root my Galaxy S6.
It's a G920K and the current build ID is: MMB29K.G920KKKU3DPH4
A few questions:
1.) I've looked up the SpaceX kernel which they say auto-roots the device. It supports the variant I have. What are the requirements in order for me to be able to successfully flash this?
2.) How do I check if my bootloader is unlocked?
3.) Besides not being to be able to use Samsung Pay, what else will I lose from tripping the KNOX counter?
Thank you!

1. For this root method you need to use the program Odin to flash the file.
2. There is no bootloader to unlock so this step is not needed.
3. Tripping knox will void your warranty.

Root Samsung S6 Edge G925FXXS4DPI1 not Voiding KNOX

Hi!
I am struggling to find a way to root my Samsung S6 Edge with the following Baseband Version: G925FXXS4DPI1, Android 6.0.1.
The different procedures (Ping Pong / CF Autoroot...) but none of them seems to be applicable to the version I have.
Can anyone suggest anything?
In case no option is available for not Voiding KNOX, what is the suggested root option?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Help with Rooting

I'm looking to root my phone, but I have a few questions. I just want to make sure I'm using a method that will work for my phone as I seem to have an uncommon version. I'm on a small carrier, and I'm questioning how I can root without tripping KNOX. Every guide I've found seems to indicate there are questions about rooting my phone. My build version also never shows up on any of the guides as a supported build.
Relevant information:
Galaxy S6
Model: SM-G920R6
Android Version: 5.0.2
Baseband Version: G920R6WWU2AOF2
KNOX version: 2.4
Anyone able to point me to a root that will work, and not trigger KNOX? Any guides are welcome as well!
As far as I know there isnt a way to root without triggering knox , and if you want to root you could probly find a guide quite eaisly , if its that you want to still be able to use knox secured apps etc use magisk

I tried PingPong. It notified me that it could not complete (I assume because I have an unsupported version).

Will Android Pay still work with magisk? I'm not familiar with it. I was under the impression that I would be permanently unable to use mobile payment applications if Knox was triggered. Is that wrong?

Yes it will , enable magisk hide and it should work , android pay dosnt use knox , i think samsung pay does but android pay is not effected by knox
Install magisk and it will all be fine
Also for rooting , just flash twrp with odin then flash magisk for root etc
