Hi mate
Well if you only want to root and stay with your stock rom CF autoroot is the way to go , you do not need the extra steps , you keep your stock recovery and you do not need to format your data
But if you wish to flash a custom rom the you need a custom recovery (TWRP) so then is easier that do it (root and TWRP ) all in one procedure .

[Q] installng cwm

Hello, I'm new to rooting but also to this tablet. I am thinking of rooting with c.f. auto root but would I be able to use Rom manager from the play market and install cwm or would it be incompatible with chainfires way? Hope I can because I don't want a brick haha
CF Auto root works fine, BUT ROM Manager is not yet compatible with the N8XXX series. If CWM is already installed it can use it, but it will not install it on the Galaxy Note 10.1
Install CWM manually or just use Mobile Odin which is what I do
Steve
Thanks for the info
Could you please tell me how I flash it to my device or a tutorial on here? Sorry for such a noob question but I have to start somewhere

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge (SM-N915F) Root Not Available for 5.0.1?

I cannot find any root method for this phone SM-N915F anywhere in the forums.
Build number is LRX22C.N915FXXU1BOE1 running on Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop)
I've been soft-bricked a few times for trying a few rooting methods including CF-Auto-Root.
Anyone here knows where can I get root for this model?
I read in another thread that you can flash cwm (what about twrp?) with odin and then boot into recovery and then flash super su to get root. But there is no cf auto root. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Link here
Sendt fra min SM-N915FY
This means CF-Root is working for any device as long as we have the appropriate custom recovery for our device. Thank you for the link, I will try it and post back the results.
Wow it works, thank you for the reply @xenkato
Cool! Did you do it with cwm and super su?
Yes, I did exactly what the person in your link does haha!
So you flashed cf auto root first with that one failing? Or only cwm and then super su?
Err from what I've read I think there are two things regarding the root file provided by Chainfire.
1. CF-Auto-Root (This one is a method provided by him to flash devices directly to root them)
2. CF-Root (This one is where a custom recovery which is suitable for the particular model is needed to flash it)
I've flashed CWM on my phone and then flashed the CF-Root through the custom recovery installed
So I think as long as devices has a working custom recovery like TWRP/CWM then it can be used to flash the CF-Root from Chainfire's website.

TWRP on rooted J700p

I have a Samsung Galaxy J700p (boost Mobile) on software version J700PVPS1AQD1 that I rooted using CF Auto Root. I want to install TWRP recovery, but I don't know if being already rooted changes anything. All the guides I see show only how to install TWRP and root at the same time through Odin. I want to be extra cautious about this, I don't want to have to re-flash the stock ROM again.

Cannot root anymore 7.0

Hi Everyone,
I had a custom rom installed then I could not root it for some reason. So I decided to start all over again and reinstalled stock 7.0. Now I cannot root this or install custom recovery on it! I have tried so many different methods but none of them seem to work

Hi, what's your Model Nr.? Have you tried it with the
CF-Autoroot.zip on your Computer? Otherwise you can also download the Supersu.zip, then flash TWRP with Odin and after that flash the Supersu Zip.
Hi Fatal,
I managed to find an auto root and managed to do it via odin. Thank you for your reply ?
