New phone!! - Android General

So here in a couple months I can get a new phone.
I currently have the Galaxy S5, but not quite sure what to get when I get a new phone. Anyone have any suggestions and why? Figured I'd ask now, get some suggestions, look into them and then see what I like/don't like while I have a couple months to decide.

Please search before posting, there's an existing thread for this here:

Calling all noobs!

Listen Up!! Not to sound rude but to all the noobs out there in the Atrix 2 forum PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read the forums before posting!! We have had at least 10 different threads started by noobs to answer the same question. Please before you post use the search function or take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
If you still have a relevant question then try to find a thread that relates to you problem and then post it there. Once you have searched and looked at the noob guide, and haven't found ANYTHING that relates, then you may post a new thread.
Thank you for your time!
Also, Please just do a search even before posting in any thread. ONLY POST IF YOU CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING CLOSE ENOUGH TO FIX YOUR ISSUE. Most likely someone has seen your issue in here, we have seen things like the 2.3.6 update for over 2 months in here, from using cheesecake, and trust me, someone has already done it, or borked their phone in a similar way as you have.
I really don't want to see any more demands from people who messed up their phone and are demanding support. Remember YOU are the one that decided to hit that update button, or make that change on your phone, none of us forced you to do so.
I will ONLY tell everyone this, one time, just like lfaber06, I have had people demand things either in posts or PMs. The first time you make a demand from me is the last time I will ever read anything you post ever again, and good luck getting help from me after that.
Remember myself and lfaber06, and others here too, do these things in our free time, and do this at no cost to everyone here, and there are a ton of people in here as well, that most likely do similar things in their job, so, remember this, when you actually ask for help.
Although I agree with all you say, I think is better to spend time into actually developing android rather than persecuting n00bs,
XDA DEvelopers still remains about developers..

Hello and Thank you

Just wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone here. Been following this site for a while now and had loads of help making so many of my phones better here starting with my old MDA Vario. Got my One X now and can't wait to see all the great things I'm going to be able to do with it!
Sorry if I'm spamming, just wanted to introduce myself
Yes, lots of good information here but new user policy is quite weird.
We all would like to have to avoid certain people, but if you are a developer and you have to make 10 posts in general or q&a forums...
Hello guys,
Hope you have a nice time here...
Just a heads up, read the forum rules, and follow them if you want to stick around here for a long time...
The "How to be a new user, and not a noob" link, present in my signature, will clear a lot of your questions regarding xda...so please do read it
And please do search around before opening new threads...
Enjoy!

[Completed] [Q] Thread tag usage?

Hi there!
I sure feel like a total newbie (which I'm not, by the way) for asking this question, but here goes:
How does one use tags on threads?
I have several useful threads of mine (see my sig) that I'd like to give a few tags, but I cannot figure out how to do it.
Thanks!
-thenookieforlife3
BIG FAT EDIT - Never mind, I feel so dumb - just figured it out! Please delete this thread, as it is utterly superfluous!
Glad you got it figured out. ?
And may I add, you obviously know your way around XDA, so please use the appropriate sections. Assist is here only to help members navigate the site, not for any kind of support.
Thanks for understanding. Thread closed.

Need advice on getting a new phone

Hey everyone.. I am looking to get a new phone. I live in the US and T-Mobile is my carrier. Any suggestions on what phone I should get? I am looking to spend around $300 used or new
Thanks!
Hi there,
There are threads already established that are devoted to discussions about devices, please read, and if necessary, repost your question in one of these threads: The what should I buy thread or the The Device Suggestion Thread or the The Device Comparison Thread.
There are also several other discussion threads that you probably should review to help you. They are What phone do you wish you had? or
The Worst Android Device That You've Ever Had & Why or even this place that talks about The best phone you ever owned.
I will have to close this one. Thanks for understanding.

Wondering about development interest for roms and such?

Well I gave up my lg v20 to go back to the s7 (tmobile). It was an impulse trade. Now I've regretted it because of the lack of development in the areas of roms, themes, locked bootloader, and such. MY question is this, what's your opinion of the s8 and s8+..? Are they going to go down in flames or will there be a resurgence of interest in samsung again?
Your answers will help me decide whether to get one right off the bat or wait for another flagship device that's coming out in the next couple of months.
I can not find a way to delete my posting, I switched it to another section. Please delete.
Duplicate.
