FRD-AL ... 00, 04, 09, 10, 14, 19 ... what are the differences? - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

What i know:
FRD-AL00 >>> China version (?) (32 GB)

FRD-AL09 >>> EU version 32 GB
FRD-AL19 >>> EU version 64 GB
FRD-AL04 >>> US version 32 GB

Maybe there are more different versions available.
Each one is a Honor 8

They have localized software / bloatware installed.
EMUI Roms are / are not compatible?

There is a tool called SrkTool Huawei that can convert phone, but does not support Honor 8 yet. It supports P9, P9+, Mate8 the creator is somboons and u can ask him on that forum.

Single vs dual sims will probably result in incompatible roms between the different versions.

Please I want the EU ROM
Hi guys, I recently purchased this phone from China and it came with the AL10 ROM which is customised for the Chinese people.
I will be very glad if anyone here can teach me how to install/change my ROM to the EU version AL19 or US version AL14. Thanks
The spec of my Honor 8 is 4gb/64gb/blue FRD-AL10.

Yes but to make it work someone with AL19 and AL14 need to make backup of there oeminfo.bin and custom.bin and send it to the Developer so he can put it in the tool, then it will be possible to debrand the phone. And we need stock firmware. I have made backup of my L09 and sent to the Developer of SrkTool Huawei and he will put it in his tool so we can crossflash Honor 8.

ok, so no way to add the band 800 MHZ on a Chinese honor 8? even with the root?
I have another question.
If I have a warranty problem with my Chinese honor8, I must refer to the Chinese vendor or I can arrange me directly with international honor8?

It can't bee added by root, as bands are related to hardware (antenna inside the phone)

When buying from China, usually they sell it with international warranty, meaning you can take it to any customer service.
(Or at least that is what I was told by the shop lady couple of years back)

No Internationell warranty on Huawei, if u live in Belgium u need to buy it from a seller that will send it from a EU Country and then u will have warranty on it, there are a lot of Chinese seller that dispatch it from EU.

In my opinion, if you care about warranty, just buy it from EU

To confirm, the Honor 8 L04 US device is single nano SIM. It has two slots but only supports a single nano SIM with 1 IMEI number. (NS)

Auto Rotation does not work

Hello,
I have the MHA-AL00 and since the last 2 firmware updates the auto-rotation stopped working.
I've tried the hard reset (by the way the backup does not store account information and other stuff - had to configure lot's of stuff again by hand after restore) and the problem remains.
It's not rooted, because It's still brand new (7 days old).
One thing I did not try was to wipe the cache partition. would it help?
Also, is there a simple way to install the European firmware? Lot's of apps are in Chinese and it's not possible to change the language...
Thanks.
Cheers.

Will the firmware for US Mate 9 also work well on a non-US Mate 9?

The firmware of HUAWEI Mate 9 for US edition(MHA-L29) phone is available on Huawei official website.
http://consumer.huawei.com/us/support/mobile-phones/mate9-us-sup.htm
I just wonder whether this firmware will also work well on non-US edition Mate 9, such as China edition one.
Thank you in advance.
I am using the B190 as my allday since rollout. I am in Germany. No Problem Vodafone Germany LTE

Yep. On Mate 9 you can rebrand to any region. Have to unlock bootloader (and factory reset) while processing.
I have a Chinese Mate 9 running US as my main phone, it's great!
