Will you be Upgrading to Google Nexus 2016? - LG V10 General

How many considering switching / upgrading to the upcoming Google Nexus 2016 models? Which one? Why or why not?
I'm considering the larger model..

If i don't get the V20 than the google nexus 2016 is most likely my number two. The rugged durability of the V10 was a must for me. I dislike cases for the most part. If the V20 can beef the battery, I'm sold.

Looks like it will not be carrying the "Nexus" branding.. Hope we get some more concrete info, especially some hands on views.. Electric blue sounds nice..

New back panel for Nexus S

Hello folks,
I have the Nexus S that was released on launch day - Dec 16, 2010. I believe that was the I9020 or I9020T. I would like to give this as a gift to someone, I would like to buy a new back.
I had bought one from eBay, but the cheap one was for I9023. Sadly, it did not fit - it was some 2 mm too long.
I now see tons for I9020A - any idea if those would fit?
I don't think it will. Yes the OS and how they both run is the same, but I don't think that is will work. That is what happened to my Nexus S when I bought the cheaper cover and it didn't fit. I have the slightest feeling that it won't fit.
The I9020A, I9020T use the same back cover I think. The reason the I9023 cover didn't fit, is because the phones size is slightly different due to it having an LCD display, Instead of the AMOLED one on the I9020A/I9020T

Lack of accessories!

When I first saw the nexus 4 I was excited for the accessory possibilities. Since it is built in a similar manner as the Iphone 4/4s with glass on both sides and it was selling out everywhere I was sure the accessory manufacturers would jump on it. All I wanted since I first saw it for the iphone 4 was this bumper...

They even had one for last years arguably less popular gnex.. why aren't we seeing very many accessories for our phones?
There plenty just gotta search, if you want a high end pouch go on etsy, if you want a $10 mybat tuff hybrid case go on eBay,
Nexus 4 tandem
Also, do not forget that the iPhone 4/4s has been there for a while already (it is from June 2010), while the N4 has released just some months ago.
Yet, there are plenty of accesories, just google for them (or look here).

I live in Paris. You can get plenty of accessories from ebay, DX.com, etc in Europe.
I thought it was a question thread asking for accessories, now I see it was just to complain at Google. I really do not see the point for a thread like that.
Go ahead, buy an iPhone.

So you bought a phone that is basically a developers phone, for half of the price of any phone out there with buying and your pissed because said phone isn't selling accessories at stores that don't have the phone in the first place? The beauty of this device is the fact that it's the cutting edge of Google's software development. Google is making very little from the hardware and is not a accessory developer. Apple on the other hand is all of the above, hence 3 million different accessories for their super popular phone. Companies make accessories for popular phones, see galaxy s3, iPhone, and that's about it. Is the phone is sold by t mobile or three or who ever is selling it in the bricks and mortar stores, you should check there, but the swear off any Google products...I think they will be okay, but they will be wanting their free everything you are using back, and good luck with BlackBerry iPhone and Windows. I hope you see the humor in my comment and don't take it personally

There are a decent # of accessories but if you're expecting iPhone numbers then get an iPhone. They make millions of one phone, android is considerably more diverse.

The official bumper is in stock on the Play Store. We don't have the charging orb yet though.
There is no shortage of third party accessories on Amazon, eBay and other sites.

No way. I just came on the website to check if someone knew where I could get this very same bumper for the nexus! Please tell me if you find it. Thanks

I haven't found one anywhere and doubt we'll see one for a while... I'm thinking about designing my own, buying a block of aluminum and taking it to the nearest maker club and milling it myself. If I do I will definitely post it here.

I tend to agree a little, to get the SlimPort cable to connect from N4 to TV is $50 minimum, if you want to charge your device while watching a movie then it's another $50 because Amazon don't ship to Australia for certain items - mainly electrical.
It sucks. I've honestly been turned off by Google since I've purchased my Nexus 4, from the debacle that was shipping times, to hardware problems with the phones and the support staff lying to me twice I was fed up with this experience.
Google didn't bother to pour millions into marketing the N4. (compare it to the iPhones and Galaxy Series) And, I'm ok with that. :good:
pissed me off really Speck declined the vote with over 1k3 votes but about to release a case for Galaxy S4. WTF?!? Incase has cases for galaxy s3, Incipio is making cases for HTC One and Nokia and the galaxy s3, Belkin is also on their way for Galaxy s4 cases. I MEAN WTF? sorry for my languages, but i've been looking for a good case so long.. even otterbox, decided not to make cases for our Nexus 4. SUPER PISSED!!!
sorry for my language guys..
Again, look how Samsung markets their Galaxy series opposed to the Nexus lineup; Basic supply and demand. :fingers-crossed:

There are plenty of other cases to choose from. If a company doesn't want to take your money that's fine, give it to a more deserving company.

Seems a bit of a trolling post, this.
Can't exactly see much of a shortage myself, what with the innovation of international shipping.
Since goods are generally cheaper in the States, you add a bit on for postage, and take a bit off due to the advantageous exchange rate, all in all it's a pretty good deal.
So I just ordered the (In my opinion.) three best accessories: official bumper, dbrand skin, and skinomi screen protector. I do love this phone and think that it will be protected well enough. I didn't start this thread to troll or imply that the iPhone is better. But damn those cheap Chinese aluminum bumpers are classy. I intended to start a conversation which accessory manufacturers might see, or somebody could point out some cool accessories that actually exist. (Which they did.) I think the arguments that the N4 is a development device and so manufacturers don't want to make accessories for it are invalid since the gnex had plenty of support from those awesome/cheap Chinese manufacturers, and more importantly, dbrand is making a killing on N4 skins. There is obviously a profitable market for N4 accessories.

I understand. But it'll come eventually. I remember there was almost nothing for the Nexus 7 mostly "Universal" fit items, generic looking TPU cases and crappy folios when it came out but now there's lots of options. Now that the supply issues are fixed for the N4 there are more items starting to come out. I think by the time I/O happens there'll be a variety of more options for the N4.

What do I buy next.?

Have owned a tab 2, for a while. Now it's dead and wandering what to buy next. Apparently the tab 3 is not really an upgrade so just wandering what your thoughts are on the best successor to tab 2 please.
I think its the Samsung Galaxy tab S. A high end tablet with one of the most beautiful displays ever and a sturdy build too. Hope I helped
I just "upgraded" to an older note 8 (2013 version) myself. This will probably be my last post in this subforum. I'd say if you want something new but don't want to break the bank look at refurbs on amazon. I got my note 8 for $125 because of cosmetic damage on the rear case which is covered up nicely with a $4 case.

[Q] Will you stay

So now that we know the S6 will not have a removable battery, will you stay anyway?
I know that I will not be sticking around. Based on that fact alone, and the fact the my S4 and S5 have been disappointments, I am making the move to the LG G3. I don't think I will ever be ok with a unit that you cannot pull the battery out of. How much do you think it will cost to replace the battery outside the warranty period?
I'm with you. No removable battery, and no SD card are deal breakers for me. I think there are many like you and I who despise superficial style over substance, function, and repairability.
The Galaxy S6 might as well be an iPhone that runs Android. Most of the reviews trashing Samsung plastic bodies are from iPhone using reviewers.
I will hang on to my S4 Tri-band until it no longer functions. When the time comes for replacement, if LG still makes phones with removable batteries, that is what I will buy.
I'm looking forward to seeing if this is a miscalculation by Samsung. The sales numbers will tell.
I don't find it a need for me to switch from a Note 3, nothing looks worth yet. I'll wait for the Note 5, but we'll see.
Also I'm considering buying an Asus Zenfone 2 to play with, the estimated max 350$ price seems worth it to try.
Better switch to lg g4 when it is released it will be a great device
I thought I might skip the S6 b/c of the no removable battery & no SD card support but I decided to get the S6 Edge when it comes out. Besides my S4, I've been using a Nexus 5 since it first came out and I've gotten used to not having those features. The S6 Edge is just so advanced and good-looking that I'm willing it get it.

Now or wait?

Would you buy s7 now or wait for next S phone? Do they historically come out around Feb?
Sent from my Moto X using Tapatalk
I would buy one now. In fact, I just did. I got a killer price and accessories are dirt cheap, for the most part. It's still a badass phone with top-notch specs, and probably one of the best deals around. At first release, it was way overpriced compared to the competition. Now? Definitely get it. The S8 will be $400+ more than a S7 when it's released.
This year so far, I went from a Droid Turbo 2 to Note 5 to Moto X to S7 to iPhone 6s to Nexus 6P back to the S7. I played extensively with a HTC 10, Pixel, Moto Z, LG G5 and iPhone 7. Other than the 6P, the S7 has been my favorite phone this year. A close third would be the Moto Z. Unfortunately, the largeness of the Z and 6P killed it for me. Had it or the 6P been a bit smaller, I would have stayed. But, I digress.
I recommend getting a S7. It's a damn good phone.
Thanks. Seems international version going for $500. Think that's a good price new?

Right now I would wait to buy a S8. It'll be out around spring time.
What I look for in a phone is 5.1"-5.5", latest hardware, nice speakers, nice build. Depends on what you have now and if you only want to spend under $500. I see that you are using a Moto X? If you are than definitely get a S7 international exynos version or the AT&T variant can be purchased for under $400 usd nowadays used.
I totally agree with you on that. I've been a huge HTC fan and than got me a AT&T S6 when it first came out than I won a bid for a gently used AT&T s7 for around $400 USD out the door. As a everyday phone and not having root this phone has it all. The size is manageable and perfect for me. I had a LG V10 and that thing was too hard to pocket and also a Nexus 6. The speakers were always a big reason for me to purchase a phone but now I don't really care for that feature.
The S7 is the overall best phone I've owned to this day. It makes a really good daily for any person that doesn't urge to root and flash ROMS. Fast camera, Great bright AMOLED screen, snappy performance, microSD slot plus water proof, WIRELESS CHARGING, bottom speaker gets loud but its not the best. The always on display gimmick is actually really useful and just got updated to look like Note 7's always on. Overall I am pretty happy with the phone.
It would depend on how you feel about your current phone. I switched to S7 because the S6 got poor battery endurance and sluggish.
The S7 has better screen and camera than my previous S5, the UI is about the similar smooth because S5 could be on customized rooted ROMs.
Also, would the money be an issue to you? S7 is estimated $200 to 300 cheaper than the S8.
i just bought the s7 a few days ago after many weeks of doubt (whether i shud get it or not), and i'm very glad i did, this phone is insane (even without root)
my previous phones were xiaomi mi4 & oneplus x, both phones i rooted instantly and flashed hundreds of ROM's, with the S7 i don't feel the need to flash a ROM atm
the display is amazing as well & the battery is good enough for me (getting around 5-6hrs SOT with mixed usage of Wifi/4G, while i havent even had the time to remove the bloatware)
