Annoying ads after root - General Questions and Answers

I have been having an issue with my galaxy s7 since root. Anytime I open my phone, I get ano all white screen, that screen then redirects to the play store on some random app, or it will redirect me else where to another ad. I have tried a few different ad block apps, but none of them helped my situation, it's getting really frustrating, I've deleted all the apps I had installed thinking it might have been them but no luck. Phone is a Samsung Galaxy s7 from Verizon, phone is rooted on 6.0.1 used the modified Odin method for root. Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated

Noone knows?

I think the problem is not cause of rooting. Just remove unwanted & untrusted app ir you may go for factory reset.

[Q] Permanently Uninstalling Samsung S Suggest & Peel Smart Remote

So there are two apps that I have uninstalled that keep magically reappearing. One of them is Samsung S Suggest and the other is Peel Smart Remote. I use Root Uninstaller to handle my uninstalls and even though I have successfully removed both of these apps from my tablet, they eventually reappear (and in fact are updated via play).
Obviously there is some other app running on my tablet that is related to them that keeps reinstalling them, but I don't know what it is. Any suggestions here? or perhaps some ideas on how to trouble shoot the problem on my own?

[Q] switched carrier issues/software

so I switched from Verizon to a smaller cheaper company called page plus. and the retailer for page plus flashed my phone or whatever he did to be able to make the carrier switch. im now having an issue where a Verizon app pops up asking for my login but only on Wi-Fi. its not taking me to a browser page but an app popup. I tried logging in with my creds but it does not recognize to account.. being that I have cancelled with them in all. ive also tried removing any Verizon bloatware I could see (i.e. anything that looked suspicious) but still a no go. anyone got an idea how or what I can do to fix the issue? like is there something specific you know of that I must delete? thx 4 any help provided!

GearVR while rooted?

It seems that ever since I rooted my S7, I haven't been able to download the Gear VR software. I keep getting a "Network error occurred. Try again later." message. I've tried re-enabling all of the processes that I've frozen, but no luck.
I've read online that Gear VR doesn't really like rooted device, but some people have it working with root.
Any suggestions on what to do? I've read that it may work if you install Gear VR software before rooting the device, but that would most likely mean a factory reset to refresh the device and I was hoping to avoid that. Any ideas?
Thanks so much!
I don't see why it wouldn't. Custom ROMs maybe. It might run a check to see if it's really a Samsung phone and the root process makes that fail.

Lost Hotspot and Tethering in Settings Menu

My phone was domestic unlocked. I was having a weird bug so I thought a software reinstall with Samsung Switch (PC) was a good idea...Worst decision I've made in 2016 so far! After the phone restarted, all Sprint apps were gone, and some others disabled like Facebook, Lookout and Instagram and the Hotspot and Tethering settings no longer appear. I went to a friend asking for some help: Various reinstalls with Odin yielded no results. GT idone needs root. A rooted phone is a no no for me as Banking apps and even Pokémon can't run. Factory resets and another "repair" with Samsung Switch are useless.
Where did the carrier apps went? Also, all the Sprint APNs no longer appear. Is there a NON ROOTED way of getting it back? We tried RTN, then reflashing with Odin with no results. I'm on the latest Marshmallow update (Came out yesterday)
Who is your carrier TELCEL?
Not sure what that is, actually I just look at your profile. What is your fw version?

i have the same problem. some one please help. i miss my hotspot...# unlock sprint note 5 no root. 6.0.1 T_mobile is my Carrier

Question Anyone using Samsung Pay? Doesn't work on my Galaxy Watch4 Classic

I am trying to set up Samsung Pay on my new Galaxy Watch4 Classic. No matter what I do, I can't get past this screen! Paired with Z Fold3. Touching the button with the arrow does nothing. Any help would be appreciated!
Update: Maybe this has something to do with it? Every time I open the Samsung Pay watch plug in on my phone it tells me it needs to update the Samsung Pay app on my watch. But every time it fails. Yes I've rebooted. No reason given. Any ideas? Phone is Z Fold 3.

Yes works fine on ZF3 and on my GW3 up until I cleared it. I'm in the USA and it's a US watch purchased directly from AT&T.
I had the same issue with mine when I first got it. I THINK what I did was disconnect from my phone and make sure the watch was connected to my home WiFi. Then it updated and I could set it up. It's been awhile so I can't remember for sure. Hope that helps!

Nope didn't work, or I didn't do it right. I've had my watch disconnected from the phone (even turned off remote connection), WiFi only, for 2 hours now. Opened the Samsung Pay app many times, never prompted for an update and nothing ever happened on its own. Still can't get past that Get Started screen with the arrow button. Is there a way to manually trigger an update or clear data for an app directly from the watch? I couldn't find Samsung Pay in the Play store either to update or reinstall.
Ok, I may not be remembering correctly either. I would try resetting the samsung pay watch app in the Galaxy Wearable app. Watch settings>apps>app settings>samsung pay. Get into the settings there and check the version, it may let you update the watch plug in from there. If not I'd use the reset option.

Thank you, good advice. Unfortunately that's the first thing I tried and there actually is no option to reset. Usually you can click on Storage and then have Clear Cache and Clear Data. Clicking on Storage for Samsung Pay does nothing. No option to clear anything. Can't uninstall either. The closest I could come to this was uninstalling and reinstalling the Samsung Pay Watch Plugin from my phone, and that didn't help. I did talk to Samsung and they want me to bring it to a service center or ship to them for physical repair, which is about what I was expecting for an answer. I did try resetting the watch back to factory defaults and reinstalling the wearables app on my phone, no luck. Brought me right back to the same place. I guess I will try exchanging it since I just bought it, and if the new one doesn't work I'll just go back to my GW3. Thank you for your help.
Did you tried to reset App data from ADB? ADB is a debug protocol for Android devices. With ADB you can do things which no allowed to do in User Interface. In Android OEMs like Samsung are disabling to much features in UI because they think people are dumb and they don't wanna mess your phone if you are not experienced user. With ADB you can do too much things in Android devices. I don't know how to reset app data with ADB but I did it before, just search the web.
Its easy. i had the same issue, only solved by doing this. Install APKPure and search for updates for your apps. it should appear there.update it, and afterwards you can uninstall the APKPure.
Best of luck mate.
Hi, was this ever solved in the end? I am just experiencing this issue... It's because of the new update for the Watch Plug-In, for some reason it cannot update the app on the watch itself or communicate to that app at all... I still experience that same stuck screen!! Any help would be appreciated.
