Hey guys, I got a used TB that I need to flash 4.04 onto for testing an app. It's a used Verizon device running 2.2.1 that is completely stock. Seems Revolutionary is dead and I can't find a clear way to get to 4.0.4. I don't have an active sim so I can't go that route. So what are my options? Also, can I go into Verizon and have them throw a SIM in?
that's what I am trying to figure out. let me know if you find out what to do.

Good afternoon, everyone. I just had my phone rooted with the Hero ROM and it is very laggy and it cripples the whole experience. Is there anyway that I can unroot my phone to where I'll have the stock Android v1.6 and still get OTA updates (I'm on T-Mobile USA)? If this is possible, can someone direct me as to how to get this done w/o paying for someone to do it for me?
Thanks in advance,

If you have modified recovery (by Amon_RA or Cyanogen) - no need to get unrooted. You can simply flash other ROMs (except official - they sucks)
All the info you'll need is in the first post of this thread.

I was able to unroot my mytouch and receive the ota update for 1.6...but I turned around and rooted it again because I realized the stock kinda sucks. If you follow the instructions, this will get you back on the stock 1.5. If you don't receive the ota update to 1.6 right away, you can use google to find the stand alone update pretty easily. I think I ended up finding it on the tmobile forums.
Thanks, fellas! I appreciate it. It should be fun to see if I can do this by myself
Last question, what is a goldcard? is it essential to have one in order to get the stock ROM back?

a goldcard is a spare sd card that has been modded to allow the unlocking of phones, usually you do it with windows mobile phones, but you dont have to for the mytouch/magic, you can just One-Click root it if you are still on cupcake.
what i am trying to say is, you dont really need it to get back to stock rom (unroot) you just need to flash a few files from my understanding...i have never wanted to unroot so i wouldnt know but if you need a tutorial, i can give you the link for a perfect one.
I used theunlockr(dot)com to unroot. They have a video and text guide.
hey guys,
bought my samsung captivate two days ago and i love it. from reading all the posts about how rooting is awesome i finally took the plunge and rooted my phone with the one click root program. followed the directions to the teeth, everything went fine. even went as far as downloading clockwork and backing up my rom.
few hours later, im totally blown that i rooted my phone. i realized i threw away my warranty.
is there ANY way to unroot the phone and make it totally stock and make it seem like the phone was never altered? i read some answers of "yeah" and some answers of "once your rooted, you can't get back" (i remember reading about an article about how some android phones like the nexus one, once you root theres no going back period). the program i used had a unroot button but im not sure if that would wipe everything away to factory settings and erase all traces of the root.
i know im effing stupid for not thinking it threw. but hey, its good that i came to my senses before i loaded up an os.
to be clear, my phone is just rooted. nothing else. im not running cognitive rom or anything. its running the stock samsung 2.1.
so can anyone PLEASE PLEASE help me solve this problem?
im a total noob when it comes to android.
it took me 20 minutes doing that one click from reading the directions over and over again lol.
i need some step by step directions for stupid people
okay, so i followed the directions to unroot. the programs that were installed when i rooted seemed to have disappear. to be extra sure, i reformatted my sd card and than factory restored the phone (from settings/privacy). quick question though, after i pressed "factory reset" my phone rebooted and than for a quick second i saw the same screen i saw when i rooted (the black screen with the yellow font? looked like a system command prompt i guess). it came on for a sec and than disappeared and it booted regularly. did that happen because i did a factory reset or did that happen because im still rooted?
wtf is wrong with me. i just want my unrooted captivate back (and my warranty lol)
odin to stock with master clear.
There's a thread under android development something with "stock rom" that should restore your phone back to factory.
If you did all of that then you are definitely back to stock now & theres no way of detecting your phone was rooted. You could of gotten away with just using one click to unroot. Thats all I did when I returned mine after a week because my gps never worked at all. I dont think they even did anything to check if it was rooted or anything. Hows your gps on the new one by the way? Mines still bad but at least it sees some satellites now. My old one had a hardware problem where gps wouldn't do anything at all.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
When you use odin to flash back to stock does that restore the AT&T bloatware as well? Or should I use TiB when I first get the phone to get the bloatware back on?
Thanks,
JOe K.
After trying to exchange my phone for another phone (thinking the GPS is a hardware issue) I had rooted and flashed a custom rom. I reverted back using ODIN master clear and ODIN 2.1 rom (Which puts bloatware and everything on it) and there's no way to detect it. The only time it will truly void your warranty (I believe) if you go into the store with a custom rom or if you go into the store with a bricked phone and they figure out you were modifying your phone.
thanks for the answers guys! why is it that you cant "unroot" a nexus one? i heard they'll always be able to tell if your rooted once you do it.
Hey everyone, long time reader first time poster.
I am having a real issue tryign to find out how to unlock the Atrix 4G that i got just two weeks ago. Seems it came with Gingerbread 2.3.5 loaded on it and for one reason or another I can only find out how to unlock 2.3.4 and even that I can't seem to get into fastboot. Some of the tutorials I have read invole going into RSD mode which also doesn't seem to be working for me (holding volume up and turnign on the device). Is there a simple way to do this that can be suggested? Would hate to try to unlock and root for a rom and not be able to use my phone. Any help would be much appreciated. Also I am on ATT which from all I am reading may or may not make a difference.
Also side question is if possibly I am already unlocked with this Gingerbread being installed? Heard it might be released as unlocked but again not much I can find on 2.3.5.
Thanks everyone.
Hi im new to this and I was wondering if someone could help me.
I have the Samsung infuse 4g and I want to root it. The firmware version is 2.3.6, and I know I need to downgrade to a lower firmware version but im not sure how. I've also tried rooting before I upgraded but I could never do it right. Anything I tried would never work. It might be lot to ask but I'd like if I could get a step by step on how to downgrade and root by someone that has actually done it on an infuse.
Can anyone help?
Im not really sure about the downgrade part, but i rooted one today and not sure the firmware verson. what i used was super one click by shortfuse 2.3.3 i believe. i had to go into settings>applications>developement and enable usb debugging. you might need the samsung drivers. also i right clicked on the program and ran as administrator. if you try it and super one click hangs, just restart the phone. unplug and plug back in and restart the program. hope this helps, btw still dont know if it will help with your downgrade.
Hello Everyone.
I recently rooted and moved my blaze to Android Jellybean via the Cyanogenmod. I also want to try to do a sim unlock on this phone, but I see that dialer codes do not work to get to the debug or other hidden menus. Is there any easy way around this, or must I somehow bring the phone back to ICS/default? Thanks!

I believe you will have to get back to stock ICS before unlock. You could do a backup, so that getting back to your current ROM would be easier. Actually, there's a thread that explains everything. Find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2400915
