I purchased the newly released UMI X2 Android phone. I am unable to use the TMobile 3G network. I am only able to use 2G/EDGE.
Voice and data quality are very bad, almost the phone is unusable. I spoke with T-Mobile and was informed that my modem does not support 1700 MHz and there are effort to re-farm TMobile network to support 3G on 1900Mhz but not set date yet. When I scan for available network I get three networks were available
T-Mobile 2G
AT&T 3G
AT&T 2G
Operating System: Android 4.2.1 OS
Processor: 1.2GHz MTK MT6589 quad-core processor
Connectivity Technology: GSM network & WCDMA - Standard SIM card
Network Band: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz & WCDMA 850/2100MHz
Data Technology: GPRS, EDGE, HSPA
Baseband version
MOlY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V2.P1
I would appreciate any help to get my phone to work on 3G.
YAF, don't think it's possible to get UMI X2 to work with T-Mobile. You need UMTS support on AWS band.
Re-farming of network for 1900MHz support will not help you either - MT6589 only supports 850Mhz (AT&T band) and 2100Mhz(Europe).

Why Dont You Buy Devices Like Android One, Moto G , Micromax YU Rather Then Singapore Devices.
If Something Goes Wrong You Can't Get It Working Without Going To Singapore
Dear All Experts,
Can anyone tell, why we are not having a toggle or checkbox for supported frequency for any UI. I understand from the docs of MediaTek & Qualcomm that same chipset supports multiple bands but unfortunately the frequency supported of two different vendor is different. this proves the support of frequency for a phone is decided on the region it is released. so its all with the driver of modem which decides. can we or do we have an alternate solution to this.
For eg.
I see lenovo VIBE Z2 pro does not have Band 40 LTE support. is there any hope!!!
Kindly give some explanation for the judgement with some reference.

The models with dual chip g920f and g920fd of S6 do not have LTE band 28 (700). Does anyone knows how to add bands in Exynos chip?

only applies to Qualcomm chips.
I need 900mhz to 3G. It's possible to add it to this model (J700T1)?
According to service mode the only freq that this model have are 850 ...etc.
