jio volte calling feature doesn't work in any custom rom. can u guys please develop to enable volte in any custom rom ?? please eagerly waiting .
dayum r u serious????
This has been mentioned what seems like a hundred times recently...
VoLTE works with most carriers on custom ROMs, but not Jio.
We don't know why Jio VoLTE works on stock and not custom ROMs, it seems to be something at the RIL (Radio Interface Layer) that is proprietary to Moto and/or non-standard.
The only way this will work is if you find a developer with sufficient experience in troubleshooting RIL issues (rare), that has the device, has Jio service, and the drive to do it.
Why is this so important? Can you not make and receive calls on the "standard" 3G service of Jio?

No, jio services are only LTE service provider. They are not licensed to provide other than LTE. That's why they are giving only VoLTE services as for now so you can't access 2g or 3g network to call.

I don't think changing carrier happens, because they are giving unlimited internet, unlimited call and unlimited SMS for free at 0 ₹( $) cost so stay stock and stuck.

Bro jio doesn't support 3g or 2g mode. it only support 4g . thats why volte is needed to call in jio.

SMS also are being sent on the back of the 4g network of Reliance JIO...
I faced this issue as i was on RR rom on my Moto G3 Turbo edition and then realised
no CM based rom has VOLTE support... at least not for Moto...
I was getting the same problem as others,, you had to dial 1977 to activate all the free unlimited
offers and you couldnt hear sound from the opposite side since the call was going through normal
carried signal and not VOLTE...
I flashed stock rom and immediately it showed VOLTE in the status bar... Activated using 1977
and enjoying unlimited CALLING over LTE, data UNLIMITED ... and UNLIMITED SMS

Using fastboot method only you can flash stock firmware.
There is a thread about it in general section to guide fastboot method, check and read carefully instructions.

Oh... Still, I looked and the 3GPP standard release series 7 has provisions for SMS over LTE, it should (could) work without a special app. http://www.3gpp.org/news-events/3gpp-news/1268-Dispelling-LTE-Myths

I never tested it or said it would work, just that the 3GPP standard supports it, meaning I was acknowledging my previous comment was incorrect.
Jio is the exception, or maybe forerunner, here... They may be the first VoLTE *only* service in the world, every other carrier uses a mixed system to my knowledge. We are bound to see some issues with devices and roms because they have never had to deal with this circumstance before.

In our device we can't get to work jio join app for calling function, it recognises as Volte device so calling is disabled for our device.
In coming days they are going to release new version which is going to have support only video call option for our or Volte devices.
Try this. Worked nicely for me.

I would bet not. Just the same implementation we have for the nexus 6.
That will be a Godsend coming from an old iPhone 5s on Verizon.
That is providing you're in a 4G area.
But will simjltaneous voice/data work WITHOUT utilizing "advanced calling"?

I might be wrong but i think advanced calling is what made is possible for data and voice to work at the same time & with out it it wouldn't work.

I am still on my Droid Maxx. Which can do simultaneous voice/data WITHOUT utilizing VoLTE.
Trying to find a newer phone that can do this as well. I found info throughout forums that it is because phones used to be manufactured with two antennas, one to handle phone calls, and the other to handle LTE data. And these days phones are only built with one antenna to handle both calls and data, which makes sense why only utilizing VoLTE is the Simultaneous voice/data feature available.
However, talking with Motorola reps, tbey insist phones have always been manufactured the same regarding amount of communication antennas and that the limitation is on the service provider software end.
Anyone know for sure?
Luckily, my Droid Maxx does give me the ability to try-out VoLTE, but call quality sounds choppy/echo, and I can't deal with dropped calls (i.e. when I'm driving and go through an area where my signal briefly drops to 3G, calls drop because the technology isn't there yet to hand the 4G call over to 3G system).
Guys, this is a hardware AND network question. Most older phones had 2 antennas so we could use data and make calls at the same time. Now they're moving away from this and introducing VoLTE which pushes voice and data through a single antenna. If voice and data doesn't work without VoLTE enabled, then this phone has a single antenna.

Yep i thought It did aswell, I'm in the UK on three UK and though I think it is network dependant too in the build prop file it does say something volte=0 it may be just turned off. Also not convinced that the white paper is even correct if this is the case.

Update: more settings
The VOLTE setting in build.prop are:
ro.mtk_ims_support=0
ro.mtk_volte_support=0
persist.mtk.volte.enable=0
persist.dbg.volte_avail_ovr=0
Can someone with root access change it to 1 and reboot your device? After this check through setting to see if there is VOLTE or Advanced Calling somewhere. Also try a call and see if LTE stays connected.
I tried all of those build.prop settings. I get the Enable VOLTE option in settings but all calls drop to UMTS/HSPA. Sony Mobile support on their forumkeep pointing to the whitepaper and blaming the carrier. I tried a T-Mobile sim and an AT&T sim. No VOLTE. I tried Bell Canada ROM and journalist ROM. Still no VOLTE. Guess I will be returning the device. Too bad because the hardware is great.

Specs according to my network three UK clearly states volte voice over 4glte strange...
EDIT: From what I can gather it's all done automatically on my network at least, especially if you use there WiFi/volte calling app called three in touch for when you have no network coverage it was originally intended as a WiFi calling app but now supports volte apparently and for now must be on my carrier firmware(more or less a customised UK ftf only there splash screen and two of there apps both needed) not that this probably helps you but it is supported(network dependant)

It's network dependant so even if you enable the volte toggle in settings via build prop if your network doesn't have volte you can't use it. Still trying to figure out who is right. My network advertise the xa as 4g super voice(what my network call volte) capable out of the box as do Sony yet there's no toggle or mention of volte calling anywhere in the device. Three UK reckon it'll only revert to volte calling if all other methods of making a call fail first say if your in a area with no or little reception. It's a sim free network unlocked device running my networks slightly tweaked customised UK ftf with only a splash screen and a few apps for account info and a WiFi calling app

That statement about volte as a last resort sounds backwards from how every other volte phone works. They prioritize volte. Also thanks for speaking up in my Sony Mobile forum thread. The more people bug Sony, the better chance we have of getting a straight answer. If we end up with working volte support I may purchase this device again. I really do like the size & form.

Very weird. Maybe ask your carrier to check provisioning for your device. What bands does your carrier use for VoLTE?
it should be supported bu carrier it self , not only the phone ! check with them !
Well after some investigating, I have an answer: Rogers only support VoLTE on Apple, LG and Samsung devices...
This is really unfortunate but it's one last thing missing from the Honor 8 to make it my daily driver. It's an excellent device and I was very impressed for the price tag, but not having wireless charging, VoLTE and 4k video made me realize how much I actually use it.
Thanks for the help guys!

It depends on the carrier you have, when it approves it, then honor should push a Volte enabled OTA (like it did with th 5x)

If there is only LTE support from a particular network, then without VoLTE you cant make calls.
There is app for speaking calls in LTE in case of JIO network. But still we don't want that app.
I like to use the normal inbuilt dialer rather than that app.
Also, if that app is closed, we cant receive calls. So VoLTE is necessary to supports mobile networks which doesn't support to 2G or 3G and solely having only 4G LTE.

Since the company is giving out free data of 1 GB everyday, it is like revolution over here in India. So people are preferring mobiles with VoLTE out of the box to be the part of that network.

You will be limited in your choices. This is a very Niche thing so your best bet would be to look at devices that target India. Looking at devices for anywhere else in the world and you will be hard pressed to find anything.
What lte bands does this support in

Google India has tweeted this. How many of you actually use Pixel on Jio?
I do...I have enabled wifi calling...but dont think it works yet...waiting for the update
Any update on the wifi calling update?
Its been updated with 7.1.2 however you should be connected either to Jio hotspot (Device) or Jio public wifi hotspot. Doesn't work with any other wifi network providers.

Then it is laughable. Who is going to use Jio hotspot device at home if there is already poor signal? Kinda defeats the purpose of wifi calling. If jio public wifi hotspot is present, it is likely to be in an open public place where 4G reception will be better.
So I was like :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

True, but i believe thats how it works, cos Jio4GVoice app works in a similar way, either with Jio Hotspot or Jio Public Wifi Hotspot, or Jio net (Mobile data). :fingers-crossed:
Can anyone confirm if this works on any other network's Wi-Fi, if not this is same as iPhone Wi-Fi Calling setting which was present since Jio's beginning but did nothing. Was that boasting on twitter Google?
I remember reading an article about this when bsnl tried to launch an app for calling from your landline number and was blocked before going public as Indian laws need caller identity from where the call is initialized.
Even on JioFi, you can only call with app from the number in JioFi sim, so kind of not exactly WiFi calling. You can't call from your number in your Phone.
I can confirm that Jio doesn't have Wifi calling or VoWifi enabled yet. I have confirmed it with the CC and a friend who works with Jio.
Doesn't work on JioFibre either. I have tried using an iPhone 6s Plus.
This should finally be coming sooner now as DOT has finally given all the necessary approvals. Jio has already done the trials last year so it should just be an easy switch.

I thought you were referring to a fresh tweet. I am aware of the last Google tweet on Jio WiFi calling dated April, 2017.
