[Q] Nexus 5 cellular network not working at all

This morning I put down my phone for about a half hour and when i came back to it, i had no service at all. So i reset the phone thinking it would work. Nothing happened. Checked APN settings and nothing worked. I even reset my phone numerous times and nothing worked. I'm not quite sure whats going on but i cant find a fix. I have a Nexus 5 running 4.4.4 on Metro PCS network. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! :good:

Did you try using the sim card in another phone?

Are you using CM or any other custom rom? If you do, than this is a problem, if you don't it is a SIM card or your provider problem.

Phone wont register on network!! Need Help!!

Hello guys!
I love this phone, but i am having problems getting it to function properly here in Sweden. It was originally bought on a contract and simlocked to Tre (carrier). I bought the phone second hand from swedish ebay (much cheaper than brand new) with the intention of unlocking it and using with my carrier (Telenor).
Tre would not unlock the phone for me (have to see out 24 month contract) so i unlocked it myself using the services of unlockscope.com. The process was successful, and the phone no longer asks for a network unlock code when using previously locked sim.
The problems start now.. It just refuses to register on the network! If i switch the phone off, insert sim and start, then i get a brief flash of the carrier name in top left corner (2 seconds), and then it goes back to saying emergency calls only.
I cannot register manually, i have tried hundreds of times, even though the carrier appears in the list. The apn settings are also correct for my carrier.
I have also contacted my carrier and they dont understand the problem. I even had them run a check on the imei to see if it was blocked on their network (possible stolen phone) but it came back negative, no blocking whatsoever!
The weirdest thing is that it works when using my brothers Tele2 sim card! The phone registers in seconds and displays a nice 4g symbol next to the signal indicator! A thing to note is that this Tele2 nano sim fits very nicely in the tray and stays in place, whereas my telenor sim is extremely loose and falls out, though i have tried taping my sim in place with no success.
Can anybody relate to this problem or think of a possible cause? I dont know what to try anymore! I'm thinking that there must be something wrong with the phone, but then why does Tele2 work perfectly??!!

Already tried that and it works fine I also recieved a new sim from my carrier and that works fine in other phones but not in my S7

This is getting weird , did you try to do a factory reset from recovery also wipe cache and if that do not work you could also try to flash the firmware of the phone again ( odin)

Just in case is some odd firmware problem , back up everything important first...just in case

I have already tried flashing with stock swedish firmware using odin (G930FXXU1APEQ_G930FVDS1APF1_VDS) but same problem persists.. One weird thing to note though is that even though i do a clean flash with unbranded swedish rom, the phone installs some carrier specific apps from the original carrier the phone was simlocked to upon first boot. How can that be??
Maybe its worth trying an international version?

That is odd , yes try a totally different rom just to see how it turns out , even from another country it should not make any difference for the phone and connect easily to a network.

I will try with an international firmware and see if there is any difference.. if not i will follow that guide on efs partition in case that is corrupt.. This is so frustrating!!!
Is it at all possible that a very loose fitting sim could be the problem? As the simcard of the carrier that works fits very snugly in the sim tray.

I have now found out that the phone is stolen!!! So that explains everything. I dont know why the carrier couldnt see that the first time they checked, would have saved me days of frustration!!
It has been reported to the police here in sweden, so hopefully they will find who is responsible and i can get my money back!

Oh no. Have the police found out the thieves? I think my phone may be stolen too because I have the exact same problem.

No service

I was abroad for some days, and I was able to use the sim card, when I came back to the origin, the local sim cards aren't able to connect to it's tower, I've tried different sims and even those sims aren't able to connect. But if I use those sims in other phone they are working.
I have tried formatting my phone but even that didn't help.
I use a HTC Desire Eye, Custom rom (S-ROM).
Please help.

did you contact the local carrier company?, maybe it has something to do with global roaming..

Finally got the password for this account, and yes i contacted the carrier, they told it's fine on their end.
One thing I noticed is that, I just tried something today. When the range was full (5 bars) my net was working. When it went to 4 bars (it was still working) and on 3 bars (there were some problems like the net became slow) and then on 2 bars the net was slow as hell. And I won't get one bar, directly it'll show as no service.
Aaand When I manually search for towers, I can't find any 2G/3G towers. I can see only 4G towers.
Do you think it's a problem of antenna? Or the radio.img got corrupted?

it could be a hardware issue, you appearently did nothing that could cause the modem to corrupt.

Just thought I'd comment, I bought a WiFi dongle and apparently even my carrier problem has been fixed, don't know how, or is it just temporarily, but it seems fixed.
I even get 1 bar now. Just need to try to see whether my net works or not with 1 bar.

My friends One cant make calls anymore?

So me and my friend swapped our Ones because mine had a broken aux port and his was fine, but his casing is pretty battered. So my phone which is now his, its been fine for a few weeks but a few days ago, the network has been playing up. He cannot make calls, but can send texts. But, in network settings, no networks appear when you go to select one. The APN settings are correct, signal is a bit hit and miss, sometimes its there, and sometimes its there but cannot connect to the internet. WiFi works fine. I also tried swapping SIM cards and the same issues were happening with my SIM or his SIM.
It was running Sultan's CM13 ROM with the "firmware_fixed" firmware/radio. I thought maybe something had gone wrong so I then flashed Sultan's Lineage OS and it is still having the same problems. I've tried a full wipe and factory reset, no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it? or could it be a hardware issue?

I've tried flashing the idprophecy's c1_11_00006 firmware , the stock 0241 modem and also the firmware_fixed one. All of them are doing the same thing, the main issue is that I get an error while searching for networks. I can call my network operator's topup number but people cannot call me, it either cannot connect or goes to voicemail.

My friend is on EE and I am on Three. Both are different networks, and with both sims, it does the same thing, It cannot find the network. I have tried both sims in the other OnePlus One and it detects the networks with no problem.
I guess the next step would be going back to full stock and see if that works. If that is a no go, I can only assume its a hardware issue

I have tried again to fix this phone but I think I have exhausted all software options. I fastboot flashed all the original stock files, completely went back to stock ROM and the same issues are there. It gets signal, and it says that mobile data is working, but doesn't actually connect if i open the play store etc. I managed to get a call to work for about 5 minutes before the call ended on this phone, but was still going on the other phone which called it. It does allow calls sometimes but they drop out, other times it wont dial at all.
At this point, I can only assume there is some antenna damage or something similar? I did a quick google and worked out that the antenna is on the daughter board on the bottom of the phone, and there is also an antenna wire also. Would it be worth it to buy these replacement parts and see if this would fix the issue?

You only need the network antenna,I suppose,but is there any recent activity that could damage hardware in your device?

Its my friends phone now, we traded. And he said he hasn't dropped it or anything like that. But judging how battered the phone is that he traded me, he might have damaged it and not realized. It had been working fine for me in the 2+ years I had the phone. And after the trade, the phone worked fine for him for a few weeks. Its very weird. I've tried my SIM and his SIM in the phone, both sims work fine in my phone but not his.

I see,so if you believe that there could be a hardware damage,you can go with the network antenna and see if it fares.

G955F not registered on network

Can't find a fix to this anywhere
I can't make any calls or connect to 4G. So far I've tried resetting network settings, triple checking my APN settings, I've even got a new sim card but still nothing.
When I make a call it says 'not registered on network'
It won't even let me automatically connect in network operators.
I've even done a full factory reset but that didn't work either
Last week the phone worked fine but now the only thing that works on it is WiFi
Anyone know how to fix?

Where is the phone from?

Not sure too be honest. I bought it on eBay about 6 months ago. It's worked perfectly fine up until now.
Don't understand how it just stopped working. I've even updated it to the latest official firmware.

go to settings --> apps---> show the system apps and go to phone app and clear data of it
go to sim toolkit then and clear the data too if there are more then 1 then do it for all and try to reboot
if that doesnt work
type *#06# and check if u see ur imei
if u dont see it ur ****d up ur efs

It didn't work though. I cleared the data on 3 of the phone apps data & 2 of the sim toolkit.
My imei does show when doing *#06#
When I restart the phone I just get a ? symbol top right. It eventually disappears and I have 2 bars signal but I still can't make any calls, texts or have 4G though
Just to confirm it IS my phone causing the problem as my sim card works fine in my wife's s8 plus. It's not the sim tray either causing the problem as I've tried hers with the same result

Anyone?
I'm desperate for a fix

I am in the same situation. Blacklisted phone. Could clean my imei via an ebay service but phone still wont connect to any network. Did you find a solution ?

On what network was this phone previously used. The best thing to do is to contact the carrier and try to fix it with them

My understanding is IMEI blacklisted is usually when phone has been reported stolen, it's intended to render the phone unusable on any phone network.

I have the same problem, is there anybody here can help me? Wipe data: done, reintall stock firmware: done, device info app installed and shows sim infomation with signal strength-141 Type lte, but, cell identity 0, lac 0, psc 0.
