Firmware Downgrade? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

Im currently on the latest frimware version for the Note 5. Sprint of course. PG1 firmware is the one Im on. Im trying to down grade to PC3 or OK3 as I dont like the newer firmware. only problem is that whenever I try to downgrade using Odin, it always fails. Im using the downloads straight from sammobile and I know im using the right version of the phone. I keep seeing post of how people were able to succesfully revert back to their previous version but I dont understand how they managed to do it. I thought samsung made it so you cant downgrade for security purpose but even now i see people saying they managed to revert back to a previous version of the firmware. Im tying to see if I can do the same but Im having no luck. I also dont care if i trip knox or not. Im far too rusty to try to attempt this on my own, havent flashed phones since like 2014

Flash the pc3 or ok3 bootloader in Odin
Sent from my SM-N920P using XDA-Developers mobile app

I was able to finally do it. Guess I was just getting bad downloads from sammobile. But is there a way to get of the constant update notification? I update it again by accident. Heard of pocket dial before? I call it pocket update

[Q] If I use Mobile Odin to flash stock with EverRoot

Will I then be able to update the device using Kies/OTA? The logic behind the question is that I know the updates need the stock recovery, thus flashing stock with Mobile Odin will give that to my device.
If so, what are the risks in doing the updates with the root? Can it brick? Will it simply fail? What happens when Jelly Bean goes to roll out, will that pose a different set of risks for the device because parts of the core OS have changed?
Just trying to learn more, and figure out what my options are for my device.
PS my device is the P3113.
Just do whatever you want to do right now. When the officially released version of JB is available via Kies or over the air you can flash a stock rom and proceed to update that then. Secondly, I am sure someone will release a version of the stock officially released JB rom with some nice things added and root included once Samsung releases official JB.
You can always flash stock rom and use triangle awat to go back to the day that you purchased your tab with download screen (ODIN/Hiemdall) reset to normal.

I was trying to avoid having to flash over and over again, which is why I thought using Mobile Odin to flash stock, with root, would then give me the ability to OTA/Kies an update.
I guess I was wrong?
I mean if I have to do things the way you described above then I will lol but I was hoping for a simpler way to get the updates, and keep my root. I like the stock, just need to have my root, and don't want to deal with flashing every few months when they release an update/patch/fix/tweak.
I have flashed my devices over 100 times and with nightlies of cm10 for example, i may flash them daily, do not worry

I am not really sure what to say to be honest, I always thought that there was a risk in doing these mods, and therefore, the more you do it, the greater the risk becomes.
It's also a convience factor for me, if I can just get the OTAs (while keeping my root) that would make me happy, but I also know there will be a UI patch coming out for it (or I assume there will be) and I will need that, and etc.
I was just trying to KISS (for anyone who doesn't know, Keep It Simple Stupid) since I like ease of use and simple .
So my plan is not possible and that sucks Oh well, live and learn! Thanks!
Flashed to stock with mobile odin now no wifi
i used the method on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856532 and i used everroot and now my tab keeps saying my wifi is too weak to connect when it shows full bars on the scan screen, idk if this is my individual problem or a problem with this method but i havent found a solution yet

Is the newest software able to be rooted and unlocked.

I'm going to be calling Verizon and getting a replacement s3..I've been so busy with trying out ROMs and kernels I havent really paid attention to info about the latest update (g7) I think..and also I know there is a leaked (HD) firmware..assuming my phone could come with either of these..are they both able to be rooted and can an unsecured boot loader still be flashed? Thanks

I dunno the answer to your question, but even if it is "no" you can still flash whatever you want via Odin. Meaning you can flash the older rooted stock and go from there.
I dont think the s3 comes with the update out of the box. Im guessing you would need to update it yourself. When i got my replacement verizon was forcing the update when setting my phone up but i got out of there and cancelled the update. lol
I know it can go either way..with any phone I've had I've always heard of people getting replacement s..some with older software and in some cases some with newer unreleased versions as well.

[Q] Stock/Rooted/system Update FAILS

Jumped from ol faithful S2, to S5 stock, rooted, TWRP, ND2. Its running like a bruit compared to the S2.
Now that im Rooted I can update the PRL but I get a message that says the following when doing a System Update...
"The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Kies ..or visit a customer service center."
My Knok's is tripped (? spelled right?) but other than that im fully stock. I wanted to get the last update before i go on a flashing binge. I've herd of others getting this MSG and were advised to unroot and go to fully stock, but with no avail. Am now going to have to use KIES... ??
Has anyone received the OTA update yet and are you ROOTED?
On a second note, I am on Boost Mobile. I was also on Boost with my S2 and had no problems flashing Sprint ROMs. Im wondering if I should wait flashing Sleshepic's Mystery build before I get some advice. As far as I can tell the Boost phone is the same build as a Sprint phone...

I have the Boost variant, and you can flash Sprint Roms on this just like the S2. Your update failed also because you're on custom recovery(TWRP). If you want to get the latest update, you'll have to flash back to complete stock using the tar and get the OTA. But I've had several people tell me that once they trip Knox, and flashed back to stock, the OTA notification never came again and the Kies said they had the latest. My advice, if you want @sleshepic's mystery build, just flash it .

Thank you for your your guidance! Any real reason I should take the new update before I start flashing?..thinking I would just wait on the update till Android moves from 4.4.3. And then revert back to stock/update and then root, re-inject twrp and then flash way.

It's you're preference. Not sure when Boost week have the 4.4.3 available...so if your want what is out currently, I'd flash the latest tar. Remember, it WILL void your warranty flashing anything through Odin.

WARNING: I am posting this for development purposes only (and for those of you already on the new locked bootloader)!
If you have an unlocked bootloader or are still on MF1 firmware, DO NOT flash this in ODIN or you will be permanently locked down to the new bootloader with no way of going back!
Those of you who know how to work with this file feel free to use it as you see fit. Otherwise, consider yourself warned!

Hairiest chest?
Can't wait till you guys crack this open for us unlocked folks!
i need to send my phone back into verizon. if i odin this i will be cool right?
Cannot wait for baseband update, hopefully it will be pulled separate soon.
So what does no-wipe mean?
Currently I am on NC1. If I want to odin to NE1 with fresh start, will this no-wipe affect in anyway?
You couldn't just flash the system and kernel partitions?

Means it is exactly the same as OTA. Does not wipe data. No difference flashing it and letting Verizon update it except Odin will unroot for you. Must unroot or hide root to take OTA.

Won't boot with 4.3 firmware. It all or nothing for now or we would already have it fixed in dump thread.
Worked like a charm! Now I'll wait and see how to root this baby. I already had the locked bootloader so figured I didn't have anything to lose. Thanks!

Towelroot works.
Is there a version of this with an unlocked bootloader? I currently am running my S3 rooted and unlocked with 4.1.2. Do I need to run a ROM instead - and if so is there one that is stock 4.4.2 with an unlocked bootloader?

They are currently at Work our beloved developers trying to bring us a rooted touch wiz version for those with unlocked bootloader in tact and the very first of it's kind I might add. Do not flash this if your bootloader is of value and be patient as the very best of the best of developers are collaborating to bring it to us.

Sounds like you borked your radios. Or your APN is missing. Only thing can do is run that tar. Can try running Verizon Software Updater in repair mode. It will wipe and then flash tar. If don't fix have to get new device from Verizon.

Make sure you are in Global mode before try any of this. If go with Software updater it is going to update you to 4.4.2. Not sure if can stop after repair or not. If that 4.3 tar in odin don't fix this is about only option I know of. Since bootloader is locked cannot use the fixes we have for this problem.

Is it safe to flash the modem only, in recovery, with existing mf1 firmware?
Thanks.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using XDA Free mobile app
I am on MF1 rooted and unlocked but I have had the phone since it's release and have no interest in installing AOSP ROMs. I do need root because I have to be able to use root explorer or similar so I can edit the "keys" system files to disable the "WAKE" function of the home key. I keep my phone in my back pocket and it constantly turns on if the home key has wake enabled.
Before I flash this I wanted to confirm that flashing this No-Wipe Factory Image with Odin, I can root with Towelroot and install Root Explorer? Would I also be able to install TW based ROMs like a new Clean Rom if Scott gets one figured out? Would I also be able to create nandroids using Clockwork or TWRP?
Lastly, Since my most recent install of CR 8.2 my phone's behavior has been a bit sketchy (random reboots, laggy, etc). I assume if I flash this stock image it should return my phone to whatever level of performance "stock" yields, without any of my current, likely self imposed, performance issues?
I have never had a phone this long and expect I'll get a new one whenever there really is a "next big thing", but I don't think we're there yet.
Thanks in advance.
Going back to stock
So, if I want to go back to stock, this is the way?
I'm on beanstalked / MF1 rooted and unlocked of course. But I'd like to get the phone back to stock condition so I can sell it here soon.

[Q] ReRoot: Non official update but custom 4.4.4

Just researching converting back to factory. Thought Odin would be straight forward, and maybe it still is. But read something that scared the bejeebees out of me. Something about not converting back from 4.3 to 4.1 or something like that = brick. Now, I am assuming they do mean the Official OTA 4.3 update and assuming that my updates have always been from custom roms since 4.1 and are not going to affect returning to stock = brick. IS THIS TRUE?
Second question, I am looking for the Verizon download for the latest firmware available now.
Third, is Odin still the best choice to return to root?

1. Unless you want to be stuck on a locked bootloader do not take any official OTA.
2. If you want a locked bootloader it's available here in the forums, I highly suggested again this
3. Odin doesn't root the phone, if your still on a custom rom then your already rooted
