"There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications .."
Each time XDA Developers Forum sends me an email to notify me that there has been new activity in a thread that I am following, it includes the statement:
"There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again."
But I'm not sure this is really true (and, in any case, I'd rather that the forum continue to send me notifications on the schedule that I've selected for each thread that I've followed, e.g. immediate, daily, weekly...).
Does the forum notification really follow that? The links in the emails, e.g. this one from today:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/isnt-contrast-settings-t3446637?goto=newpost
.. do not contain anything to identify me, so effectively (unless I happened to have set a sticky login cookie) clicking on the link does not tell the forum that I have visited again...
warm regards,

[Completed] [Q] How do I subscribe to a forum from a non-mobile browser??

I navigate to the forum (not a subforum) I want to "subscribe to" or "add as a favorite" (whatever it is called) but I cannot find anywhere on the main page of the forum (i.e., the page that typically lists XYZ DEVICE General, XYZ DEVICE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting, XYZ DEVICE General Development, etc.) where I can subscribeto that forum (or add as a favorite).
I notice that if you go to one of the above-referenced subforums that you have the option there to subscribe to it. But I want quick access to all of the subforums for one device, which is why that seems like a forum to me, not a subforum.
Also, in the premium mobile app, it has the sidebar which usually says "subscriptions" followed by a number. When selecting this, you are given a list of forums (and/or subforums) that you can quickly navigate to. This is what I am looking for. I have "subscribed" to them from the mobile app, but they are not showing up once I am at my laptop... it only shows on the right under "MESSAGES THREADS FORUMS" that I am subscribed to one subforum I subscribed to 3 years ago.
With the number of forums for devices growing to several hundred why is there not just a way to create a bookmark to go directly to the forum that you have already added as a subscribed forum/a favorite??? I swear I think every time I have come to this webpage I have to navigate down past 90 devices to find the forum I want (or I google XDA XYZ Device....which is a nice workaround).
There should be a way to bookmark a forum. I say "bookmark" because subscribing to a forum is actually confusing. You already have an option to subscribe to a thread and with that subscription, you can opt to receive email updates when there have been new comments to the thread. However, for a forum this is not practicable nor logical. I just need a way to jump to a forum quickly.
It seems like an easy breakdown: Forum (example HTC ONE (or VERIZON HTC ONE if it exists)) ==> Subforum (example: HTC ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting) ==> Thread (example: Help! I bricked my phone!!!).
Thread subscriptions don't have breadcrumbs in their title, but if you are going to subscribe to a thread, you probably will know what subforum and forum it is in based on its specificity.

The mission of XDA Assist is to provide basic help to those who have tried searching but can't find what they are looking for and need assistance. This is not a "helpdesk" providing technical assistance but more to point you in the correct direction with your problem. Perhaps you can't find posts on how to root your phone, install custom recovery or maybe you have questions about how to navigate and use features on the site.

Android Fb/Twitter/Skype phishing app

Hello XDA,
I was wondering if there exists/someone wants to make an phishing app that actually Fakes the newest Facebook / Skype / Twitter (social site previously selected in a hidden menu) Android login pages, and store the given passwords and mail addresses in a folder or like fbphising.txt or something. So you just need to give your phone to someone and ask for them to log in because you know a cool trick or something.[emoji41]
This is for testing purposes only (and to prove a friend of mine it is possible to phish with an offline app) so
[emoji724] MODERATORS DO NOT DELETE THIS THREAD[emoji724]
it is not a scream to something illegal, its a question to crete an for-testing-purposes-only app.
Thanx already,
B
You already have a thread for this here:

From our forum rules:
5. Create a thread or post a message only once.
As a large forum, we don't need unnecessary clutter. You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer, revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time so it might take a while before you receive an answer. (Also refer to Rule 16)

[Possible forum feature] Rules before submitting a comment.

Just an idea I'm not sure if it is a plausable idea but seeing there is so much chatter across devices regarding updates of ROM/Kernels and asking ETA's it might be worth considering some type of popup for the first post each day for logged in users that states the following :
"Respect the rules of the forums : (Hyperlink to rules)
Remember that many of the developers do this in their own time, please attempt to keep things on topic and don't ask for ETA's Developers will provide any information when they are good and ready.
Don't forget to subscribe to your favorite threads ! So you don't miss a thing"
Do you agree to this ? ( check box required here and a time allotment before allowing the box to be ticked )
This way for users who infrequently check back just to look for free stuff that people have worked hard and post baltently ask for ETA's e.c.t are forced to see some basic rules or follow the URL to the forums rules before posting fodder.
I know this would impact some users but a lot of people are regulars and help out others in threads and contribute, these people would likely just accept this once a day when they log in.
I know it won't stop many but then when a mod does chime in they can say hey look you agreed to play by the rules and still you persist in going OT or asking for ETA's and I'd deem that as fair warning.
Some forums have a rules section but its not very promently displayed nor do many people end up checking them a shorter condensed friendly reminder on first login of a day won't really hurt ?
I think there is lot of rules and regulations are there before submitting a comment. It must be important, because of avoiding such an unnecessary commennts. All comments will be made available to public. Comments sent via online form or e-mail, will be posted on the website. Comments sent via paper will be converted to PDF and then posted on the website. We do not edit personal identifying information from submissions, submit only information that you wish to make available publicly.

Understanding WhatsApp - Was i Blocked?

I installed and used WhatsApp for the first time last night to contact a friend who I suspect may be upset with me. I am trying to decide if they blocked and then unblocked me in WhatsApp. Here is what happened:
I started a chat with them (I could see their profile, but they had no profile picture and no status).
A few minutes after sending the message, their profile picture appeared and their status changed.
About 15 minutes later they responded to my message.
Immediately after their response I sent three additional messages.
After a few minutes I noticed that my three additional messages were not delivered (only one check mark).
After another minute or two, their profile picture was again gone, I could not see their status, and I could not add them to a group chat (I got the message "couldn't add xyz" when creating the group).
After about another 30 minutes, I got a response in WhatsApp and I could again see their profile picture, but it had changed to a different picture.
The three messages I sent after their response were never delivered.
My question is, can I say 100% that they blocked me after the first message and then unblocked me before they sent their second? If not, what could have happened? I don't want to ask this person if they blocked me and potentially make them more upset with me if they didn't block me.
Please only post once, as per Forum Rule 5. Your duplicate thread was closed.
I posted here and then in a different forum and my second part was moved here making duplicate threads.

You have the wrong understanding of what "duplicate thread" is.
You "posted here and then in another forum", that is what made duplicate threads.
The second one being moved is not what created a duplicate, it was a duplicate because you posted it when it already existed in another area of XDA, moving the thread only changed its location. They didn't say that you created a duplicate thread in the same forum, they said that you created a duplicate thread because you have 2 threads discussing the same thing. You posted one thread here and then you posted another thread discussing the same thing in another part of XDA, this equals 2 threads, 2 threads discussing the same thing, which equals "duplicate".
And....
Yes, I would say they blocked you. If they want to talk to you, let THEM make the effort.

Question [CLOSED] VPN doesn't work

Hi all,
I'm rooted on stable april SP and my VPN doen't work. As soon as I try to connect it, it disconnects and I have a message to connect to the internet.
Do you've the same issue ?
Thx
Thread closed as topic & thread already exists.
@Vincent_40, I am closing this thread as there is already a thread that exists on "VPN not working..." that can be found HERE -- per Forum Rule 1 & 5. At the very least, discussing it there will probably get you more of a response and support as there is numerous members subscribed to that thread already that might be reached if/when you post there; and it has seen recent responses vs. the other threads on the subject that may not have seen recent activity.
