Win CE 7 on Windows Phone devices

Is it possible to port Windows Embedded 7
(CE7) on Windows phone 7 and even Windows
mobile 6 devices?
If Windows phone 7 core is based on ce7 so
the BSPs should be usable for CE 7.
Sorry if my question seems stupid.

It won't work as the Bootloader is not open. As soon as it is completely cracked we should be able to install CE7, but then again: the Drivers would be missing. Also Phone 7 is not based off CE7, CE7 was released after Phone 7, which is still based on CE6.x

Well, HTC bootloaders are open (at least up to a specific version) and you could probably build a ROM that would work. I'm not aware of any current efforts to do so, though.

but only the ones covered by HSPL / RSPL and most devices that were updated to mango via zune are on 4.x or 5.x which are closed again - correct me if I am right

You said that it isn't possible to use of older version of CE drivers on newer ones?
It isn't possible to port CE7 on windows mobile 6.x devices?
If no, how WP7 ported on HD2?

ask cotulla , he did run ce7 on hd2 , there are even pic's videos from.
the problem is that you would need to build your own ce7 build for the phone and that isn't that easy to do.

hd2 was a test phone for wp7 so it isn't ported to that phone it was simply build by MS/htc to run wp7 (build 6***)
after that dft dumped that early build and rebuild it with the latest os build's
that is way the camera and touchscreen arn't that good on hd2 (htc just didn't make good drivers for it )
all drivers for hd2 are still old build drivers from that test build and they didn't got updated by MS/HTC.

Install Windows 8 on Android Tablet?

Hi I would like to install Windows 8 on a ONDA VX600W tablet, the tablet has a 1.5ghz arm cpu, and 512 megs of ram and 8 gigs internal memory.
How can I do it.

I personally think it wont be just install and go. First of all you need a ARM CPU (i was unable to find what CPU your tablet has). Then it would be a matter to get your functions working. It can be possible, but its only recommended for advanced users.

Well i don't think you will see this and windows 8 is now in developer preview

or You can wait for someone to make a custom rom with windows 8 on it

Please do not install until beta will release. 8DP is worse for daily use.

Its not possible because windows 8 for ARM(also known as windows RT) would come preinstalled on device and will not be available for separate installation.

But it is possible...
Someone managed to do it with HTC HD2 so why not???

And what stops me from plugging in an external storage device to a Surface and dumping the entire "C:" to it, and then reusing those files on another device?
And don't say EULA.

No Skype on RainbowMod 2.2 for Nokia Lumia 710?

Hello to all
i have a question
My wife wanted to make screenshots, so I unlocked and the smartphone Nokia Lumia 710 with Windows Phone 7.8 and installed their the RainbowMod v2.2.
Everything worked fine, but now I can not install Skype.
Is there a possibility to do that?

Update: ok i read u cant download Skype for WP 7.8 anymore.
Have everyone the latest XAP file for Skype on WP 7.8 ?

Microsoft no longer supports Skype for Windows Phone 7.

Read this https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA34489/is-skype-for-windows-phone-7-being-discontinued and say big thanks to Microsoft dudes - they banned skype protocol for WP7 completely. A s s h o l e s!!!! Installing skype or IM+ does not help even if you have xap, You will not be able to log on. BTW - skype on my HD2 with WEH 6.5.3 still works like a charm.

Maybe yes. There are Android Custom ROMs which looks like Windows 8 phone interface.
Just search if there's such a ROM compatible for your tab.
If you don't want to flash ROMs, try Windows 8 launchers available in Google Play Store.
(If you had asked for installling Windows 8 OS as in Lumia, there's no way .)

[TOOL] DISM 10.0.10240.16384 for Windows RT 8/8.1

Just extract it to Windows folder (and don't forget to change permissions for system32)

Mainly - deployment and management of system images. Windows RT already have DISM, but the version is 6.3 and it lacks some cool features 10.0 have.
