Samsung S7 random green dots and green lines - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello. A few hours ago my phone (samsung s7) started to display some green dots on black background (only on black, no other colors) and green lines in gallery and camera (on black spots). It might be a bug or something...the phone was kept on my desk, near me, no damages, those green things just random popped up and i do not know what to do...the screen is not damaged and the phone is just 2-3 months old.
Also those green lines are appearing only on the half left side of the phone and also those now appear on facebook, when watching photos there are some black edges above and below the photos, and the green vertical lines appear on them.
,
Some help? What might be the problem? Sorry for bad english, im not a native.

Sounds like possibly dead pixels, is it the same for anything black? i.e. a picture, a movie, a game etc all the same green dots?
Might be worth letting Samsung know if it s a hardware fault

Green dots occur on black background, only in a spot. ( left half side )
Green vertical lines appear when opening snapchat for example, looking on facebook at photos, or in gallery. ( left half side )
Both do occur when i use camera, dots appear in a large number on an black object so it is a problem with the black color. ( left half side )
I will add some photos and maybe a video, if i manage to do with another phone.
I dont have problems with those green things in games...havent tried a movie yet.

That looks like the screen might be shafted
Well more specifically the ribbon cable connecting the LCD to the Mainboard, one for Samsung for replacement me thinks

Damn, i will send the phone to them.
The only one thing that annoys me is that this happened suddenly, if it was done by an accident it would be different but i didn't do anything to the phone...i will get it to them.

No probs, its an arse that its happened through My experience for things like that happening is when either sitting on the phone in error or taking it apart and having a faff (yet to tear down an S7 mind)
if you got it from a network provider check with them for warranty as they may just swap it outright for you

Yellow spots on screen

Hi!
I just recently noticed that there are two bigger yellow spots and a line on the screen of my KS20, I am pretty sure they weren't there a couple of days ago. Ok so well, I tried take a screen shot and they do not show up there so apparently it is hardware related, and they do not show up on white or light colors... any idéas?? besides service again... : /
if the pixels are dead, you can't do anything other than use service.. or replace the screen yourself.. if you know how and can get a replacment one for your KS.
i assume you can find a guide to disassembling the KS20 on the net somewhere..
Yea, but i am not sure i would call them dead, yet as they yellow is only on dark colours (of course, where they are as visible as possible -_-)... Guess i have to send it in for service again, sigh...
hehe. i sympathize. hate those services..

Line on screen

Hey,
Got this phone today and I'm loving it so far. The only thing I noticed, just recently while gazing at the screen is that there is a faint line that shows up. It's a linear line in the top right section of the screen that shows up only during solid background (i/e, when using volume rocker, this line can be seen in the grey box). It seems like the pixels are not showing the best on that line. The pixels aren't dead by any means but it looks different from the rest of the pixels so that it generates a visible line. I tried taking a picture w/ my camera to show you guys but the camera can't make out the difference.
I don't want to seem like I'm nit picking but w/ rave reviews over the screen, I thought it would be flawless. Now every time I use the phone, I can't help but to notice this problem. Do you guys notice any discrepancies in the screen?
What would be the best route to take in this situation? I know I can replace the phone within 30 days but its a matter of convincing the guy behind the counter to notice this as well (and not laugh in my face) to give me a new one. Or just stick with it?
I made a video about this, the camera has a hard time picking it up but you can make it out. I'll post the youtube link once I'm allowed to post outside links.
Is it possible to exchange the phone for any reason within 30 days of purchase?
I believe the line on the screen is a manufacturer defect? There are no scratches on the screen whatsoever.
If the phone has a defect, you should be able to exchange it for a new one free of charge. I had a Captivate with a defective camera (black pixels in field and saved images) that my local store happily replaced.
FWIW, the screen on the old and new phones were otherwise perfect.

[Q] white dots on screen in black background, also when watching a video

Hi,
I am seeing 2 single white dots on left side of my phone screen. I like Galaxy R beacuse of its specification. But same time I was worried about its screen size as I am too used to keep phone on left front pocket of my jeans pant. When I drive 2 wheeler I see sometime it gets pressurized. I don't know how else I can keep this phone with me.
So the question is, did my phone create any dead pixels just because of it might have got some pressure? Anyone can help to know are those really dead pixels and how to fix them?
I can only see them when camera switch on/off and display for a moment becomes black or when watching video. Otherwise with full colour background wallpaper, dots never be seen.
Well as we have lcd screen, i dnt thinkk that problem like dead pixels in amoleds can be happen here (correct me if i m wrong)
try flashing stock rom and wipe cache and dalvik cache, may be it help. Do update ur prob resolved or not.

i don't think they are dead pixels, it may be because of dust.. similar thing happened to my friends Optimus One because of dust..
First let's confirm its not due to the background of the picture that was on your screen.
- Type *#0*# => Press Vibration(Black) => Now check if there are any White spots.
- If there are white spots on the screen then take it to the service center and have it checked, if its just dust as guys above me have mentioned then they'll clean it.
- If you can't see any white spots then it was the background that you were talking about which had white spots & nothing is wrong with the screen.
Hope this helps.

I have a similar white spot... well, i am saving that one, given that the R is now out of stock, if we dont see an ICS build or if samsung says they can't get to update it to ICS, i am gonna take it to the samsung centre and ask them to change the screen as i am getting that white spot and because of no stocks, i am sure i will be getting my refund
Even I had a white pixel on the left hand side of the screen on my SGR. You can observe it only while having a dark background. I read online that its pretty common so I left it.
You can try an android app - "Pixellator" (?!).. I am not sure if thats the name.. It has been made specifically for such white pixels.. Its dint work for me though... But no harm in trying

Thanks for this information. I was not knowing such hidden interface. I did above test and found no white spots. I am actually confused now. I do have scratch guard on my screen. Don't know but those 2 white spots can be seen randomly only when black background is on screen.

Then it's the background's problem .
I know CM7 has such a system app called CMWallpapers.apk , and they have the choice of setting it as "No Wallpaper" . Can you try extracting that from the CM7 ROM and giving it a try ? Don't know if it works though *shrug*
This was sent from a Galaxy Ace. Problem?

try turning on the brightness to max and then do the vibration ( black) test...
then you can see them easily...
it is there in my case...

Switch on the camera and cover your camera & manually turn off the flash. Now take a picture it would be completely black.
Do update on the progress here.

I can now see those 2 very small white spots at the same place. Do such spots are problematic in future and should be fixed at service center soon? Do they will fix this under warranty?

i had my Samsung tablet 8.9 since January and all of a sudden i noticed a white spot on the screen. it appears as gray when the device is on and the screen is white and it appears as white when the device is off or the screen is black. has anyone encountered the same problem? what is it? and why it suddenly appeared? how to solve it?
it is a normal thing. almost all lcd screens have approx. 0.03% dead pixel in whole screen even if it is new. there is no point to be worried about this.

Annoying yellow spot on display

Hi Guys,
New to this forum. I recently sold my one plus due to the exact reason but this was at the bottom of the display. Many have said that it would disappear over time but after 6 months, the yellow band was still haunting me. Gave up because of how infuriating it was and sold it. Got this beast, loving it but I noticed straight away at the top left of the display there was a yellow spot which spreads slightly to the centre. Im not familiar with the characteristics of certain displays as I am aware of the different kinds of displays these two devices use. Just wondering, would this problem disappear over time ?? I saw this post on this particular "fix" sites, which says that it will over time given the glue dispersion from heat and what not. BUT, im just afraid (skeptic here) it would end up like my one plus. Im trying to avoid going back to the reseller as this phone was purchased from a grey importer. Any input from any of you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

a lot of people have yellow spots . the spots are mostly visible in 0% brightness and grey backround. Install dead pixel detect and fix and choose gray from the menu. if the result is not good contact with lg service center to change the screen.
you mentioned also oneplus. I also had oneplus before. it had 2 issues the first one was the led light bleeding and the yellow banding. the led bleeding is only visible down due to the position of led lights of the phone and cannot be fixed. the yellow band was due to the glue that didn't properly fixed. I personally had this issue but after some months It was fixed by the use of the phone. I also let it 2-3 times under direct sunlight for 20-25 minutes.

Just wondering, would it work if id put the Flex 2 under the sun as well? The discolouration is only noticeable, like you said, on Grey background.. wonder if this would go away over time.. thanks again!! :crying::crying:

you can try it but I don't know if the glue is the issue. on the other hand lg has a very good service maybe it can replace your screen if the problem is so obvious

hey, i managed to exchange for another one. Though there is some improvement, the yellow spots are still apparent albeit less noticeable and only in Grey background. Did your's disappear, or at least improve overtime? How is it? I have tried using a 38W UV lamp for nearly an hour and the yellow spots are still there..

you may need to try a lot of screens to find a good one lol. Mine also has some yellow spots visible in grey but I can live with it... I have still 23 months to think about it (warranty)

Horizontal lines across the entire display?

Anyone else experience anything like this? I've just started noticing that there are faint lines all up and down the screen. There doesn't appear to be a reason they show up, and they don't always stick around. In fact, they seem to fade in and out.
Once you notice them you can't un-see them though. I doubt this is something that would come across in a screenshot, but I will try to take a photo with another phone and post it.
Well I finally have some pictures to show what I'm seeing. Hopefully I'm not the only one?
everything fine until now here
did you contact the xiaomi support ?
Check that it's not just colour banding in your wallpaper.
Absolutely not just my wallpaper. I notice it most on my keyboard, but the lines are up and down the entire display regardless of what is on the screen.
Since I bought the phone from an eBay reseller in the US, I highly doubt they'll consider my warranty valid.
Hi, yes, I have the exact same thing happening. It started like half an hour ago, I've been on a walk, with a headphone plugged in for 2 hours. When I got home, I noticed the stripes especially on colors that are not entirely white, like the notification shade pulled down on a white background. Now it starts to fade away and is barely noticeable. Did it go away on your device, or it still persists? Did you do anything about it?
