1080p 60fps YouTube playback - T-Mobile LG G5 Questions & Answers

I am unable to play YouTube videos that are 60fps at anything other than 480p. 720p and 1080p are not listed as options on the YouTube app if the video was uploaded at 60fps. I can go to Chrome, open YouTube's web page, request desktop site, then manually increase the resolution and that works fine but is a colossal pain in the butt.
I tried what was suggested in the AT&T LG G5 section and it didn't work
Thoughts?

Might be an app restriction, not a phone restriction.

I think you have to disable bingeon through your T-Mobile account settings in the T-Mobile app
EDIT: fair warning if you do this - traffic from bingeon apps will count towards your data usage if bingeon is disabled

no 1080p option in youtube app

I just bought the note pro 12.2 and there is no 1080p option in youtube app. only up to 720p
How can I enable 1080p option?
Are you sure it's not just a particular video you're watching isn't available in 1080p?
I'm currently watching Marques Brownlee's (MKBHD) video on the Apple Watch in 1440p on my wifi model. The 1080p option is also available.

I tried the same video. (mkbhd). all the videos in youtube shows only 720p.
I have rooted my note pro 12.2 wifi and changed dpi setting. I tried default dpi but the result was same
I don't know what to do to fix it.
.
problem solved. uninstalling youtube updates fixed the problem.
Youtube 1080
I read somewhere that the 720p had come about due to the fact that the videos are only being streamed at that resolution... even if they purport to be 1080p or even higher.

60fps YouTube on Android?

Now that YouTube supports videos at 60fps, is there an app that supports viewing at that framerate? I'd love to be able to utilize this new feature on my phone.
YouTube released it yersterday. We have to wait

I believe the Nexus 5 does, doesn't it? I managed to manually download a 60fps video, and the VLC app confirms that the framerate is 60fps. I noticed a distinct difference when watching that video compared to the 30fps version. Am I crazy to have noticed a difference? Does the Nexus 5 not support 60fps playback?

Awfully helpful, thank you.
This thread seems to indicate that 60fps is possible, at least in the boot animation.
Unless the refresh rate is being locked to 30Hz, hardware wise there shouldn't be anything to stop it from displaying 60 frames of video in a second. However I don't think the app has been updated to support it yet.
well, everywhere i have read, it says nexus 5 can do 30fps while playing video. now i do know that we can get 60fps in gaming. is it a hardware limitation? that i cant answer..

I think even a 2011 device can run at 60fps
Try downloading a 60fps video, watch on native or mx player and see for yourself
For those still interested. Yes the Nexus 5 can play 60fps video.
As for watching 60fps YouTube, I have finally found an app for it.
Simply install Viral Popup from the Play Store.
Open the app and open the Settings from the menu dropdown in the top-right. Enable "Dash Player".
Now back out of Settings and find a 60fps video. Select the video and once it starts playing, pause the video, then click the [Gear] button and you'll see a list of qualities. Scroll down and you should see two 720p options, choose the second one. Rewind the video and hit play.
Enjoy 60fps YouTube on Android
NOTE: Not all 60fps videos will work in the app yet. It seems 1080p 60fps videos will not load at all.

Does this still work? I can't find the option anywhere anymore in Viral from the play store, nor in Viral from the developers Google+ page...

No Youtube 1440p 60fps option?

Is anyone able to get 1440p 60fps videos working on youtube? I don't have the option on my Youtube app (latest version). I confirmed that the videos I was watching had the 1440p60 option on my laptop. VZW SD820 S7.
Also, does anyone else's video freeze/stutter when watching 1440p 30fps videos in YouTube? Sometimes the WiFi drops out for a sec too.
I am on the latest WiFi-fixed OTA.

Question 4K videos don't play when playing from browser

i just tested this on chrome and samsung internet, and both get an error when i try to watch porn on 4K. Go to spankbang and see if it works for you. My display resolution is set to 1440p. Can someone try and confirm maybe it's not our phones but the video processing that spankbang uses?
I don't know where to begin..

On the real though you probably can't watch 4k smutting because your display isn't 4k. That's the reason non smut video services like Netflix and Prime video only play in 1080p. YouTube bypasses this by upscaling and downscaling videos.
This is peak XDA.

Well what i'm saying is, on my S10 5G, even if i set my resolution to 1080p as my phone display, i was able to choose the 4K streaming setting from the website on the browser. On this phone I can't do that, it shows an X and says it cannot be played.
I think people are overlooking the fact that its an adult site, but overall, I find this quite strange because it is the first time I've seen that it doesn't allow the actual stream setting to not play whether or not the phone display is set to 4K itself.

Snapdragon 439 and 60fps 1080p problem - is it supported?

Hello, i have Yoga Smart Tab 10.1 (YT-X705F) with Snapdragon 439 and i have a problem i have never seen before.
I just restored the tablet to factory settings. Logged in with my account, updated youtube app. When i open any video with youtube app and set the quality to 1080p60fps, it tries to change it and then it changes back to 480p and i dont see the 720p60fps and 1080p60fps options in youtube app anymore. When i close the video and start it again, i see them again. 720p60fps option does work.
I tried playing video in chrome and firefox youtube player, 1080p60fps works, but its very choppy and slow. I have been having a lot of weird bugs with 60fps videos. For example some videos hosted on my NAS stream OK using my plex app, but some only in plex webpage player, some none at all. I have various android and ios devices at home and havent see this problem ever before. All my media problems seems to be linked to missing/bad 60fps video support.
I have tried several 3rd party youtube apps with advanced settings (like yt vanced), but i cannot get the 1080p60fps to work properly. Same problem with VLC and other video players playing 60fps videos.
Thanks.
Well, so i will answer my question. Lenovo was able to confirm, that this device and chip really does not have 60fps support.

I checked this with our team and they were able to confirm that the Yoga Smart Tab appears not to support that video quality (60fps) feature when used on YouTube and other apps.
