Replaced My S6 Battery, It Lasts for 5 Hours Max - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone, I have a big problem with my S6 and would like to know what you think and if there is any solution.
My previous battery would last for only 2 hours with display on, 6-7 hours on standby. I got tired of it and decided to replace it. However, the new battery lasts for 4-5 hours of active using and up to 10 hours in standby. Just last night it got from 55% to 4% in 8 hours while I was sleeping. When I bought the new battery, both the seller and the guy who put it in told me to fully discharge and charge it for 12 hours, 3 times. I did so, and it's still crap.
My S6 works on 6.0.1 and I only use a couple of apps, like browser, Reddit, Twitter and Whatsapp. I uninstalled Facebook apps as I read that they consume a lot of battery. I also used Package Disabler app to disable some apps/services I don't use. However, it's all to no avail. As soon as I charge my phone to 100%, it shows it has 10 hours left of battery usage. In comparison, my previous battery (when it was new) would show over 20 hours and it would be REALLY good and last really long.
What drains my battery most is "Screen" and "Android System". The other apps that I use, such as Twitter and Reddit, only drain around 2-3% of it.
Is there anything else I can do?

It's possible the battery is uncalibrated.

Hope it was an official battery and not a reproduction one.

Sadly, it's not an official as I can't get official ones here where I leave. Everyone advertises them as original batteries, but they are far from that. However, this place where I bought it has good ones as I bought batteries for Note 4 and S5 earlier, which were incredibly good. This one...not so much.

Give it a straight 16 hour charge. Then kill the battery . Recharge it and leave it in the charger for 2 hours after its full. After that take it out and use it until it dies. Then charge it regularly
---------- Post added at 10:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:29 PM ----------
I did that and my S6 lasts about 13-14 hours

UPDATE: Installed Greenify + Amplify...the battery lasted for 1 day and 3 hours. It finally shut down, so I will calibrate it now after charging it back to 100%.

Very curious quirk On Android Open Kang Project ROM... Near Unlimited Battery!!!!

hi all...
soo after my comments over a week ago on the aokp website for this build, i decided afterall to take the plunge and update. i was on b26, so subsequently had to flash b27 and then this. everything has gone absolutely swimmingly with no issues at all so far....
HOWEVER>>>>>
I am faced with a very puzzling quirk. its by nooooo means a problem at all, infact it quite the opposite!!! let me explain.
i've started charging my phone in the evening these days for some stupid reason and then, when charged taking it off and going to bed. After getting this milestone on, my battery has been killed over night, draining to around 15%. Normally, it would drain to around 70% and be flat by the end of the day ready for charging again.
This continued for a few days when i decided to root out the cause of the massive overnite idle drain. I installed a fantastic free app called Badass Battery Monitor (which i highly recommend btw!), and over a period of a couple of days the offending app was weeded out. It was Nova Launcher. This had never happened to me before and couldn't understand it. So, as part of my diagnostics, I decided to confirm the findings by removing it and just using stock.
Over a couple of days monitoring, with exactly the same charging method, my battery levels returned to normal drainage with around 75% battery left by the morning. Fantastic. I had found the problem fixed it and got back to normal. Soooo where is the quirk i here you say!!!? lol Well......
On average, from everything i've read in forums, battery drain overnight while phone in standby is around 20/30%, so mine WAS right up there with the majority of you.
Last night, i decided to charge to full and then wipe battery stats. Which i did. Now, bare in mind here that I ONLY have the standard battery that is supplied with the Galaxy Nexus. I got up this morning, and to my utter amazement, my battery had only drained 2%
Now been incredibly realisting here based on average overnight drains, i was 100% sure that this was deffo an error. I have done everything from restarting the phone, taking the battery out, but still the level in my battery was saying the same.
As I sit here writing this, I have been streaming a radio station via wifi on the phone for the last 2 hrs, and atm my battery is telling me that it is STILL 85% full.
I am DEFFO not complaining, but i'm sure now, you can see why the hell i am so puzzled! HOW THE HELL IS THIS HAPPENING, because i can genuinely find no explanation at all for it
as a follow up, it is now more or less 5 hrs since my orginal post, and my battery is reporting that it is 75% full
Jeesh, 20 to 30 idle drain overnight? My phone drains about 3 to 5 overnight which is typically 8 hours of sleep.

Interesting quirk. Are you a heavy or a light user? It'd be nice to see how it drains after a full drain and recharge.

well, to see if what was been reported was correct, i've been an absolute heavy user today. i have wifi on, ive streamed radio via internet for around 3 hrs, ive been playing all sorts of games and watched a few youtube vids. and my battery is atm reporting 74% life left
so here i am, STILL very very puzzled..
my battery life is just going and going with no signs of running flat... have a look at these screenshots and give me an explanation as to why i suddenly have a super battery!
MAYBE you really have a super battery or your mobile is glitched and shows the battery like that due to laG?
I'm on miui and I lose 0% overnight. It just depends on the ROM, but 20-30% is ridiculous!

Your states do not seem super impressive. On most phones the screen is the biggest drain. You show 49% battery with a screen on of only 1 hour. After 33 hours you've only used your phone for 1 hour screen on. Thats VERY little.
I usually get 2.5-3 hours of screen on time for my galaxy nexus.

Thanks for the app recommendation! Been looking for something like it all day.
This will depend on ROM/Radio/Kernel user installed programs/sync etc but 2-6% is normal drain over night anyone with 20% needs to seriously look @ battery stats and work out what's causing wake locks.
Also not forgetting most phones need to bed in after a flash which can take 2-3 days before we see real battery info.

I think original batteries are having problems

I just replaced the original battery that came with my phone in October 2010. The battery would drain 2% per minute while reading a book on the Kindle app. Actually any screen usage would do the same. It would also go down to 10% then shutoff then I would leave it alone for a few hours, reboot and the battery went to 50% with no charging. Then I would plug it in and it would go to 100% in a few minutes. Impossible. With very little use the battery would last 10 hours.
I put in a new HTC OEM battery that I bought of Amazon for like $6. It's been running for over a day with very heavy use and I am having trouble draining the battery to calibrate the phone. It's friggin AWESOME.
I think the old batteries are having some kind of problem or just getting old. It seemed like a heat problem where the longer the battery was used the faster it would drain and then stop completely. Then left alone it would show the correct charge.
Other people in various threads were having the same problem. Hopefully someone can figure something out.

It could be newer battery technology. I mean, the MT4G is nearly two years old at this point. Can you post a screenshot of your battery use? It seems that the standard for judging a battery is screen on time. How much are you getting? For $6 I would gladly invest in a new battery if we can get some numbers to back this up.

I just started using the battery so I don't have real good stats yet. However, the charging is also taking a lot less time. My old battery took about 6 hours to charged from 5%. This should be done in about 2-3 hours.
nope - no issues on my OE battery here... last me for a day 1/2 with minimal activity (checking emails, fb). Guess i'm just lucky?
I have to agree, check your batteries. I just checked mine and it is turning oval like. Time for a new one

may i also add that i've had my device for almost a year now using an OE batt and still going strong.
Lithium Ion batteries begin to degrade as soon as they're manufactured. They only have a few years shelf life. Poor charging habits will shorten them I already replaced mine months ago.

I see - i'm very critical of overcharging my phone. I have clocked mine the other day to see how fast it'll charge up from 30% to 90% and it took an hour and 15 mins almost... to me that's respectable.
I recommend buying the Anker battery for this phone. It really improved my battery life. Before I would only get 1.5-2 hours of screen on time before needing to charge my phone. http://www.amazon.com/Anker-1550mAh...d=1341178398&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+mytouch+4g

See the thread, "cocktailbar service and battery" I stopped using the folio wallet forca weekend and during that time I let the battery drain until the phone shut off itself. I then charged it for about 12 hours and installed "GSam Battery Monitor" which only monitors battery usage so I don't know if this app impacted anything. After that I noticed the battery life almost tripled. That Monday I put the flip wallet back on and it has been fine ever since.
Hopefully this will help you too.

Accurate battery life?

Just got a new Z3 D6616. This is the battery life projection I'm getting. I bought this phone because I heard great things about it's battery life. Also, when I saw a YouTube review, the guy's phone had a battery life projection of several days. Is something faulty with this specific handset? Am I doing something terribly wrong? Please advise.
PS. I'm at about 30-40% screen brightness with the adaptive setting on.

You should actually use the phone from 100% doing your daily stuff till about 1% and take screen of your on screen time. On screen time is what matter. They claimed to have at least 8 hours SoT with normal usage but the max I can get is only 4.5 or 5 hours.
I did a lot of reading before buying the phone. Heard about the "memory" screen or something that helps towards battery life. Several users claimed 10 hours SOT. Could it be the newer firmware that might have reduced it? I'll post the YouTube videos I saw shortly.
I use brightness at about 1/3 and have location and autosync on. I get about 8-9 Hrs SOT in a 36Hrs period.
At first even I got 4-6 Hrs SOT until it calibrated over a few charge/discharge cycles.
It takes a few cycles for the battery to calibrate, if you want to do that faster do the following:
1. Drain to 0-1% with normal use
2. Do a full charge till 100%
3. Do another full discharge (Dont charge in between)
4. Do another full charge till 100%
5. Now just use it how you want.
Thanks! Guess I'll have to report back report back after a couple cycles.
I have the same problem, I have enable the stamina mode, have the brightness at half and auto, and the battery won't last for one day,as an example today when I get up after I unplug the device it go from 100% to 99% right away and now after 10 hours without game, photos just Internet reading over WiFi the battery is at 31%. It doesn't seem normal, what should I do?must go to service?
I'm at 59% and my phone predicts 1 day remaining.
D6616 as well
I do suspect an app draining my battery though...

Well, it says 23 hours now... and 1 day 18 hours in Standby mode.
I also have no power saving features enabled, with max brightness..
I can get 6+ hours if I limit my brightness, but I settle for less with max brightness throughout the day.

The battery life I'm experiencing is worse than the "forecast", which is essentially what worries me. Regardless, I've no right to whine unless I've cycled the battery completely at least once since it is after all a brand spanking new phone.

I doubt I'd get the 24 hours from now with my current use either. As long as it lasts me throughout the day I'm fine.
I can generally go the entire weekend without charging my phone though.
Ive gone through 3 Z4s (Cosmetic defects/lightbleed) on my 4th Z4, all of the were bad until they were calibrated within a few days.

Lol yes.
I fully discharged and recharged my phone. Now I got 18 hours usage, including 7 hours SOT with the screen on max brightness for half an hour. It's getting much better now, certainly a huge improvement over my previous phone!

That's more like it, it should get a little better.
Please have a look towards the end... My phone's been awake when I was asleep. Is there an issue with this phone deep sleeping? While I get a good SOT, the idle drain is too high! Please advise on how I could investigate if a particular app is doing this. I used to use "wakelock detector" but that no longer works without root.
EDIT: Stamina Mode always on.

Accubattery isn't 100% an accurate reading only a estimate.
A battery's labeled capacity is more of a suggestion than an actual hard number. The most important number is hours between charges. Is that adequate for you?
The stuff some of y'all focus on. Assuming sot is high on the list also.
Of all the battery apps I've had, the only one that was accurate for me down to the minute was gsam rooted
Sent from my OnePlus7Pro using XDA Labs
In addition to the app not necessarily being accurate (I don't use them), it is fully possible the battery is less than the stated mAh rating. It was years ago (but battery technology really hasn't changed much for these devices) there was a thread by an xda member that did testing on a number of OEM and 3rd party batteries. Hardly any met the rated mAh. From what I can recall, maybe 20% met or exceeded the rated mAh.

Fully agree here. I have no issues getting through a day on a charge. Although my usage is not as heavy as other folks. But I am quite satisfied with the battery life on this device, idle drain, etc.
How many charge cycles have you gone through since starting Accu?
For 15 days will be reasonably accurate, but if you've only had 1 or 2 charges then Accu will be much less accurate. Also, do big charge sessions , e.g. 20% to 100%, and leave the charger connected for a while after hitting 100%. Lots of small incremental charges won't help accuracy.
