Hello,
I am currently using Flex OS ROM 5.1.1 on my Moto G XT1033. I seem to be facing performance issues with my device lately. The stock Lollipop firmware that I had (5.1) started giving problems. I have tried using quite a few custom ROMs (5.1.1 and 6.0.1) but they haven't seemed to have helped much. I still face lag issues. My phone is a little more than 2 years old now. Could it be a hardware related issue? I am aware that the bootloader cannot be downgraded. Can I use a KitKat based (4.4.4) custom ROM with the 41.1A bootloader? I would like to see for myself if reverting to a KitKat based ROM solves the issue. As far as recovery is concerned, I am using TWRP 3.0.0. If there is any better suggestion, it is most welcome.
Thanks.
You can flash one of the available KitKat Stock or Custom ROMs in Development. Bootloader does not matter. There is a screen flicker issue that can be resolved by turning screen off once. Some ROMs have been created that include a fix for this.
However do consider trying the following Stock Marshmallow ROM as performance is superior to Lollipop and the experience is more polished overall. It is very important you follow the flashing instructions in first post exactly:
[ROM][FALCON][6.0][STOCK] Identity Crisis 6

Hey guys,
Question: I would like to install a custom rom on my Moto G, but only for the following reasons:
1. Blazing fast performance (better then stock!), lightweight rom
2. Good battery life like stock
I experience a bit of lagginess with faux kernel and kitkat 4.4 so maybe it is time to try a custom rom. I only hesitate to install a rom because most of the roms are still full of bugs. So basically, which rom offers great, fast performance for our Moto G and is bugfree? Or is it better to stay on stock and is it too early to install good custom roms?
And also: when I try to flash a rom (I only tried Kitkat+ and CM11) I get bootloop (recovery is CWM and kitkat 4.4, rooted)
Thanks in advance!

Have you read this?
I use a custom rom (Paranoid Android) which is on Android 4.4.4, but I don't really like it (mainly because there's not a dedicated settings for the PA features), so I want to change, but I don't really need a custom rom, since I use Xposed Framework, so stock Android is perfect for me, but I see that there's still only 4.4.2 available to download.
I've seen the changelog, but I don't really understand how importat are the improvements.
So should I keep using 4.4.4 (but a different ROM), or is 4.4.2 just as good?
As usual i was on 4,4,4 Moto but then i flashed GPE 4.4.4 then updated to Lolipop, now i want to go back to motorola and is this ever going to be possible without facing the consequence some people have faced already? A brick? Is this currently available? Is there an update from motorola coming, such as the 5.0.2 Lolipop update?
Lollipop 4.4.4? haha If you updated to 5.0 the boot loader has been updated, and there will be some bugs when you downgrade like a line going down the screen sometimes.

I sucesfully converted to Kitkat 4.4.4 GPE, however, is it possible to flash Moto 4.4.4 with the Lolipop 41.18 bootloader ? I dont want to break the phone but i really hate GPE!
I tried and got 4.4.4 stock but you got some bugs, a little bugs, no brick.
Hello everyone! Because i was tired of lollipop performance and bugs on our phone, i decided to downgrade to cm11. I found this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-unofficial-cyanogenmod-11-t3216484 . But i cannot find a compatible kernel for it without losing wifi, so i have to deal with the screen flickering and subpar cpu management of the stock kernel. Can someone help me finding a kernel or making the newer ones work with wifi?
Have you tried the 4.4 Xperience kernel? Pretty sure, if I remember correctly, that I saw in another thread it doesn't break WiFi and had no screen flicker on L bootloaders.
I have tried the lollipop version of the kernel (XPerience29-falcon-kernel-test.zip) and it remains stuck at the bootanimation(no flickering though). The kitkat version(3.4.104-XPerience-18.zip) still has the flickering problem, it is outdated and has much weaker wifi than the stock kernel. The xperience kernel was my guess as well but the versions that work are pretty outdated.
I need it too, I want to use MultiROM with SlimLP as primary ROM and CM11 (latest build) as secondary ROM, but I can't make it work with Xperience kernel. I don't know which version I have to use.
It will be better if I could run stock KK as secondary rom but it's only a dream.
P.S: I am able to run CarbonROM KK as secondary (latest niropa's build), but I don't like it..there are some bugs
I need custom recovery for Motorola MOTO G 1st Gen, running Android 5.1
Please let me know which is the stable one? And if possible provide a working download link.
I read at many places that some recoveries (don’t want to name them) have screen flickering issues and some have other issues.
screen flickering issue only with kk rom. um running twrp 2.8. no problem.
Can you please confirm that TWRP 2.8 will work with 5.1, without any issues?
I dont know much about rooting.... Any help is much appreciated...
