TT 5.1 - HOME, FAVORITES ETC... How to Save!!!

OMG, I've managed to do it!!!
Some may have spotted my various posts asking how to get TT to save my home location, favorites etc as they were being lost every time I switched of TT.
Here's how:-
- Go to START - PROGRAMS - FILE EXPLORER on the PDA.
- Open the folder called PROGRAM FILES and NAVIGATOR.
- Delete the file called NAVIGATOR.CFG.
- Go to the SD card, find a folder called GREAT BRITAIN-MAP or something to that effect, open it.
- Delete the file called GREAT BRITAIN-MAP.CFG.
- Perform a soft reset.
TT will then ask you where you want your home location to be set as.
IT WORKS!! Can't tell you how happy I am!!
Hope this helps others too...

Mobile GMaps on HTC HD2 (Offline mode)

Be embraced with your big baby!
I have been spending days diving around the Google to search for useful offline map applications for my BigB (HTC HD2), which comes really handy when you are on trip to overseas.
(Especially for desperate traveler like me!!)
*Finally* I managed to install one good offline map app (Google Map based!!) with GPS function enabled!
OK, let me go through the setup process before talking too much about my tears & blood of how I've got it:
[BIG Tip] It is recommended to install "MyMobiler" into your PC & HD2, so that you can use PC to control your phone remotely, save much efforts!!
**Credit to William
1) On your PC, goto "mapcacher" home page and cache the map area you want. (Tip1)(Ref1)
2) Locate the area you want to cache, then use LEFT-CLICK to place markers around the area on the map and define the zoom level. (Tip2)
3) Click "Generate" button and same the file into your HDD
4) Download gMapMaker and install into your PC (Ref2)(File1)
5) "Cache Folder": Choose the location where you want the exported maps be saved
"Max Parallel Downloads", "Hash Size" & "Tiles per file": not sure what these are but done as recommended
6) Click "Go" button and specify the .map cached in Step-3, and let it download the offline data
7) Rename the folder "MGMapsCache" to more readable one, e.g. "London", "Tokyo", "Hong Kong", etc.
8) Copy the renamed folder in Step-7 to your SD Card (Tip3)
9) Download Myriad, copy to SD Card and install on your HD2 (Tip4)(File2)
10) Download and copy mgmaps.jar into SD Card (v1.39.21 [jar]) (Ref3)(File3)
11) In File Explorer on HD2, click the JAR file in Step-10 to install
12) When installation completed, the "MGMaps" application short cut will be placed in Start\. Click the "MGMaps" icon to launch the app.
13) It will ask you many permission settings:
- Allow Local information permission
- [Optional] Not allow for HTTP access
14) Finally, when it finished asking you for permissions, you will see a map with no data (if you didn't allow for HTTP access). Click he menu button on the lower-left side, click Settings->Map Browsing
15) Check the options "Stored Maps" & "Offline Mode", and click "Browse..." to locate the map you saved in Step-8
16) Click "Menu"->"Save" to save the setting, go back to the app top and click the lower-left button again, click "Exit"
17) Repeat Step-12~13 again, then you will be able to see the offline map. (Tip5)(Screen1)
18) [Optional] Exit the MGMap app, goto HD2's "Settings"->"Other"->"Java", click "Menu.."->"Actions"->"Security", and set the permission settings to "Session only" etc.
19) Copy and *backup* the file selector.utf from HD2's \Windows\AppDB\ to your PC (Tip6)
20) Download HEX Edit and unzip into your PC (File4)
21) Open HEX Edit application, open file selector.utf copied in Step-19, change the value "domain=midp1" to "domain=tckmax " (3 trailing spaces) (Screen1)
22) Save the file and copy it back to HD's \Windows\AppDB\
23) Download policy.utf and copy to HD's \Application Data\JavaDB\ (need to create these folder) (Ref4)(File4)
24) Launch MGMaps from HD2's Start\ again, hola! no loonger asking for permissions while you can browse the offline maps
25) Goto somewhere open space where you can see the sky ^^, click MGMaps lower-left button->"GPS"->"Where am I?" (Tip7)
26) Congratulations!! You did it! (Screen2)
Tips:
1) For first try, it is recommended to cache the area you actually are and later you can test the GPS out right away.
2) Don't try to cache a very large area in the first shot (or later you will find you are spending much of your time in exporting the offline map), just locate where you are and then set the zoom level to 13~19.
3) For better arrangement of maps (surely you will export more maps of other areas later), create a root folder called "Map", then place the folder in Step-7 under it.
4) If you stick to JBlend shipped with your HD2, then you will not be able to browse offline map data, only the online ones which is no difference than Google Map app.
I have tried JBed3DMod at first, screen whiteout when the MGMaps launched on it.
I have also tried Esmertec Jbed, with versions:
"20090217 5.1 R2": MGMaps can be launched, but *always* ask for permissions (Access to location info, internet, local user files, etc.)
"20090507 2.1": Same as "20090217 5.1 R2", plus font size for buttons are way too small for tapping with bare finger!
5) If you are not able to see the map, properly the default GPS location is far from your map. You can search the GPS data for your location from the Internet, then input "Latitude" & "Longitude" data into MGMaps by clicking lower-left button->"Favorites"->"Menu.."->"Edit"
6) HD's File Explorer and PC's File Browser cannot view HD2's folder \Windows\, you are recommended to use 3rd party's file browsing too for this operation, e.g. Resco File Explorer
7) There would be Error message saying your GPS is not available, just ignore it and go back to the MGMaps top. Click lower-left button->"GPS"->"Show Compass", and if you see location data on top then that means the GPS is working. You may then click lower-left button->"Back to Map", and you will see the lovely Google Map blue marker on the map.

I have been installing Mapking but the map quality was way too bad, so I really do recommend this app!
I am sorry for lacking of reference links because I was too desperate during the trial and error process, with my Google Chrome packed with 20+ tabs.
Thank you very much for creating such a beatiful app for us!
Enjoy!!
Or just use NaviComputer!
Waw ..what a great effort!!
Thank you ..!
What about Open Mobile Maps with the replaced maps.xml file so you have 8 sources of maps. When you`re browsing online the maps, the cache builds up and never empties, so you build up maps for offline browsing.
hi, i have downloaded mgmaps in my hd2 as per the first email. i am able to view and browse through the maps. however the problem is that everytime i zoom in or move the map just slightly it asks:
"Untrusted application mobile GMaps wants to read data located on this device or removable media attached to this device. Do you allow read user data?"
the above message appears several times consecutively before i am able to see the map.
How to resolve this issue?? would appreciate any help from the experts.
Rgds.
Please read carefully file -- instructions.txt.
I have followed all instructions as is written in that file and Mgmaps no loonger asking for permissions.
there are steps for security (take attention on step Nr. 21- don't forget 3 traling spaces) :
Good luck
What is myriad???
Hi,

Download apps from the market onto your pc

hi people i finally found a way to download apks from the market onto your pc
from the market to your pc without a phone free apps only
this will not download paid apps for free
it works great
http://codekiem.com/2012/02/24/apk-downloader/
chrome only
hope it works
what to do
1. Right click on Chrome shortcut, select “Properties”
2. Switch to “Shortcut” tab. In “Target” field, insert [space]--ignore-certificate-errors at the end. Once you have that finished, click “OK” .
It will look something like this:
C:\…\chrome.exe --ignore-certificate-errors
or
“C:\…\chrome.exe” –ignore-certificate-errors
Close Chrome and open it again with that shortcut
3. Open APK Downloader Options page. If your screen looks like the right picture ( the warning box is gone ), then you disabled SSL error warnings successfully
II. Enter email and device ID on Options page
1. There are two ways to get Email and Device ID
a. Easy way: install this Device ID app, it will show you your emails and Device ID
b. Difficult way: Open dial pad, call *#*#8255#*#* ( 8255 = TALK ). If it opens “GTalk Service Monitor”, find lines that begin with JID and Device ID. Your email is JID, and your device id is a string that after android- prefix
For example: if it shows android-1234567890abcdef , then your device ID is 1234567890abcdef
Do not type in random email or device ID, it won’t work
2. Enter your email’s password, then press Login. If everything is ok, now you can use APK Downloader
III. Start using
After finished two steps above, you can start using APK Downloader. Open Android Market, view any FREE apps ( for example: Simple Text ), then press the APK Downloader icon on address bar
IV. FAQs:
Is is against Android Market’s ToS?
- I’m afraid that it is. Please read Section 3.3 for more information. So again, you at your own risk.
Where is the Options page?
- Click on the Wrench icon on the toolbar, go to Tools -> Extensions. Find APK Downloader. At the end of its description, you’ll see a link to Options page.
Why do I have to enter my email, password and device ID? Does it store or send my password to another place?
- The extension only stores email, device id and Android Market cookie in Chrome local storage, on your computer. To be able to get Android Market cookie, it needs your email and password to login at https://www.google.com/accounts/ClientLogin . After it’s done, password is not stored, email is stored to display on Options page, Device ID and Cookie are stored for later requests. I do not send those information to another sites.
Why don’t you just put one account in the extension, so we don’t have to use our information ?
- That’s good for users, but not for developers like us. For example, when 1000 users download same app, it only counts 1.
Why do I have to disable SSL error warnings first?
- This extension needs to send data to https://android.clients.google.com/market/api/ApiRequest . If you don’t disable that warning, Chrome will display an error page, and there is no way to make this extension work.
Is it safe to disable SSL error warnings?
- It’s safe if you know what you’re doing. Please notice that it only disable SSL warnings, not disable SSL protocol.
But I recommend that you should create two separate Chrome shortcuts. One with and one without –ignore-certificate-errors flag.
Again, do you collect our information?
- I don’t want to get into trouble by collecting users information, so I try not to have it in any way. The only thing I’m collecting is which apps are downloaded by users. You can view the source code to make sure about this.
Can it download apps that not available in my country or not compatible with my device?
- The answer is yes, because it uses T-Mobile operator code.
Can it download paid apps?
- No, of course not, unless you purchased it with your logged account before. Please remember this isn’t a tool for pirating.
Why do you make this extension?
- I’m an Android developer. While working on my new project, I have to decompile some apps on Android Market. Everytime I want to decompile one, I have to download it to my phone, use Astro to backup it to SDCard, connect phone to PC, then copy the apk file. That’s a really long and painful to me, because I have to do it over and over again. That’s why I come up with this idea.
V. Changelogs:
1.2.1: 03/07/2012
Switches from android.market.com to play.google.com
1.2: 02/27/2012
Disable download button on paid apps
New feature: Change sim operator
1.0: 02/24/2012
Initial version
isn't this a little useless?
if you'll download an apk to your pc, you're finally going to put it on your mobile unless you're going to edit the app with apk tool.
so why not download it directly with your mobile?

Creating a Script in Android

I play a game on android with multiple accounts (Each account requires a different login info), I would like to write a simple batch file to log me in for each account.
I thought of a few ways to do it and the most elegant way i though of was: To determine which file on the device stores the credentials to login to the app (the game doesn't ask for login info every time it starts - unless you logged off / signed off the game before existing the game). Now, after i find the correct file on the device i would save it to a separate folder - do so for each account - and use the script to switch the credential file and start the game. or even better have some sort of an interface with a drop down list of my accounts to choose from.
so to resume the concept of what i'm looking in to do: 1. locate the where the game stores the login info. 2. save that login info in a seperate folder for each account. 3. create a script that will switch the files from the saved folder to the game actual folder (where it would be used by the game) 4. optional - do it with some sort of an interface or simply by creating different shortcuts on the desktop.
that's all hope it can be done.
P.s
I now see that i also need to know how to find the place where the game stores the info, any help with that ?
thanks
any solve yet !!
I wish....
XDA is not what it used to be. ppl doesn't take the time to answer questions anymore.... Unfortunately.

[tip] how to transfer apps from a windows phone to any android phone.

Hey guys this is my first post so I'm a little rusty But here goes:
Starting on your Windows Phone.
1. In your STORE, Search and Install the app named "Contacts Backup--Excel & Email."
2. Open and put in your email and hit Export.
3. Go to your mails and download the excel (.xls) attachment.
***** TRANSITION***** Now go to the site c2x(dot)eastros(dot)com and upload the contacts.xls file. The new page will present you with a QR code
Now proceed on your Android phone.
1. Download and install the Android counterpart of Contacts Backup--Excel & Email attached at the end of the post.
2. Install and open the tab "Import"
3. Scan the provided QR code you see on your screen.
4. If the scanning does not work, go to the next line in the app that demands a 32-character code and this is how you get the code. The URL where the QR code is found looks something like this (see attachment Link.txt).
Copy just the characters after ".../app/c/" (9a00b8c798fb47429e39ceb38d564088). DO NOT INCLUDE THE "#" AND COPY THE CHARACTERS AS THEY APPEAR.
5. Sit back and see the magic happen
SO IF YOU WAVE A WIN PHONE ALL YOUR ADDRESS CHOULD BE AT YOUR MS EMAIL ie outlook.?? or hotmail.???
so sign into that account on your android
and give your pgone access to all that is in the account
EASY!!!
