I was going to go with the Pleson brand from Amazon, but the latest reviews say it lifts around the edges. I want the glass to have circular cutouts for camera/flash/mics. Has to fit well on the screen with very minor margins. Anyone find something else that fits the bill?
I'd like to know this too. Anyone?
I actually have both the Skinomi and the Pleson glass screen protector. The Skinomi brand came in slightly cracked in two different places which made two different air bubbles that wouldn't go away and got bigger day by day. I emailed Skinomi and customer support seemed really great, they sent out a replacement that got here in 4 days. Only it wasn't a replacement. I told them twice during our exchange that my device was a Moto Z Force. They sent one for a Huawei Honor 5X. I emailed them about it and they said they are now "updating the design" on the Moto Z Force techglass protector and it wont be available til the 25th of Sept. I too was skeptical about the Pleson protector but I bought it anyway and I have to say I am very satisfied with my purchase, idk what kind of crappy application the other buyers did to have so many errors on the edges of the screen but this screen protector not only covers more than the Skinomi one, but I don't have a single air bubble. I have Pleson's cheap little TPU case also, and I have to say its also nice in my opinion.
You can see from these two pictures:
1. I don't have a single air bubble (Click the picture to view the full size image)
2. The dust remover sticky thing works wonders, I literally don't have a SINGLE spec of dirt/lint under the glass.
This was AFTER removing the thing like 3 times just to get it "PERFECTLY" over the front of the device. Honestly you forget its even there with this case that covers the edges.
I went with the Sparin ones and they are great. I was actually pretty surprised. I'm very anal when it comes to screen protectors. A set of 2 and a bunch of tools in the box to get screen protector on well for only $8. It was easy to install, great fit, and touch remains delicate and precise.

You do realize Shattershield is shatterproof because the topmost layer, what you touch, isn't glass, its plastic. Which scratches insanely easily, dents easily when dropped(because plastic), and can be easily removed with a simple razor. So no, it isn't a screen protector. Which is why I say tempered glass is the way to go as tempered glass has a much higher scratch resistance than a shattershield display, and in my opinion, glass feels better than a plastic screen.

Any luck removing that plastic one or did you just leave it? I ordered the skinomi and kinda want to remove my already scratched stock one.

I left it, removing the plastic shattershield layer would more than likely cause more issues than necessary if you don't contact Motorola about a replacement layer. Especially if you plan to just throw on a glass screen protector on it, your phone screen might be like, concave.

Yeah and the screen can still be scratched and dented easily but won't shatter it happened on my first moto z force
So I ended up removing the Motorola shattershield with a razor. Was easy. Come in from bottom right corner to get a lip and then slowly peel off. No heat needed. It's a slightly firmer version of the skinomi plastic and I ended up putting a tempered glass replacement on it which looks and works fantastically. It really ups the look of the phone and just feels nicer

any pix? would be nice to see the difference. thanks in advance!
Definitely would dig seeing how that looks.
I've tried 2 different glass ones til I just got fed up, went to Verizon and brought the Zagg one for 34.99. Covers proper and looks and feels great.
The Pleson would've been great if it had seated around my finger print reader and ear speaker - the cut outs are very well done. It just didn't happen tho.... Ah well.
---------- Post added at 01:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:17 PM ----------
The Omoton 2 pack one on Amazon is lame - it barely covers the phone - pretty much only covers the display and stops pretty short of much else... They emailed me to explain the "curved" glass screen... Meanwhile Zagg and Pleson covered most of the screen! If we could get Pleson's cutout and Zagg's adhesive - we'd be golden.
I didnt know Zagg made a glass screen protector for the Z force?

Would like to see this as well. The wife and I both have damaged the front screen already and been waiting for Moto to come out with the replacement screen but still shows it as "Coming Soon". I have a slight scuff on the center towards the top and she actually dropped hers after tripping and chipped the screen in four spots. Kind of funny that we have never used screen protectors nor damaged one before and we get the one with the "shatterproof" screen and done it to both
Yeah, but the screen didn't shatter... [emoji14]

Glad to hear it! I totally recommend it as a go to and cut out all the guess work from the ones on Amazon
Shatter shield removed, no replacement
I removed the Shatter-Shield plastic because it was scratched and I'm planning on replacing it with tempered glass, but what they're really any be any problem with keeping the Shatter-Shield off and not replacing it? Aside from warranty issues
I have heard pro's and con's to shatter shield. Yeah it may scratch,,,but wont shatter if it is dropped. I guess that is why I put on the zagg glass screen protector asap to avoid scratches on the plastic part of screen. The Zagg screen protector from Verizon is really great looking and feels very smooth to touch way better than the original screen.

What the pros and cons of tempered glass screen protector vs a Film screen protector?
My concern about the Tempered glass is that :
--it's adhesive is only on the bezel area and since sgs4 have smaller bezel so it might get detached easily
--Tempered Glass might scratch the glass beneath it
--If adhesive of the Tempered glass became less sticky Dust might accumulate inside
So can you tell me your experience with tempered glass screen protector? I really want to hear from someone who used this screen protector for long time and not on these reviews on youtube since they only used it on the time they review it.
And also does anyone tried using combination of Film and T.glass protectors?
i never bothered because they're so expensive and i screw up the screen anyways so the film type are more easily replaceable
ill probably end up buying 2 or 3 cases and end up using only screen protectors in most situations lol.
to me i rarely drop my phone but i have trouble keeping it out of my pocket with my keys and change, other things. ive been pretty good about it but not perfect.
First off my only problem with tempered glass on my S3 was that it messed with screen responsiveness... Now the ones for the S4 are mostly half the thickness of last years so that should help that problem a lot. The iLoome protector fort the S4 is fully clear and I assume it has adhesive over the entire surface. The sense of mind you get with glass is great. Plus the feel of glass is much better than that of other screen protectors. If you can find one that doesn't take away from screen sensitivity than i'd say it's definitely worth it if you care about your phone.

I have a "Flexible Glass Screen Protector" on my S3 that has adhesive all across the back. I have only removed it once in the couple month's that I've had it. I have not encountered any dust getting between the two pieces of glass. The adhesion has not deteriorated any either. I am very happy with it and I really am hoping I will be able to locate one for my S4. The only draw back that I have found is that the thicker protector limits the cases you can use. My favorite cover before I got the protector was the Seidio Surface case and it no longer can be used. I also like my Otterbox Defender case and I was able to "squeeze" it on after I removed the plastic protector that came on the cover. It's a tight fit, but it does work.

It isn't 6mm thick, that would be +70% the thickness of the entire phone! lol
Maybe 0.6mm, that would still be very thick for a screen protector.
Spigen film is the way to go... $14 for two protectors and easy to install...
Just watched a review of the Spigen Glas.tR and it is also CLEAR!

I had a glass protector on my GS3 (XGear Spectre, I think) and it worked fine - no loss of sensitivity. It did allow some tiny dust in, but it was easy to lift and wipe it out the couple of times it happened over 8 months. And the week before my S4 came in, I managed to drop the S3 on its face...the screen protector cracked, and the phone is still perfect. Looking at the Spigen one next week just because of that.

Okay, I found the ad for the flexible glass protector. I ordered it on eBay, this one is very similar even though it is for the Note 2: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...193&pid=100040&prg=1011&rk=1&sd=230950051927&
I love this screen protector and am hoping that I will be able to get one for the new S4.
---------- Post added at 12:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:08 PM ----------
I also had the one everyone was talking about at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920757
But, like someone said previously, it had adhesive only on the outside edges and dust or dirt could get underneath the protector.
I ended up breaking it on the corner when I removed it to clean beneath it.
That does look like a nice one.
I bought the Spigen Slim Glass screen protector and I am 100% satisified. Zero less in screen sensitivity and it feels smooth as, well, glass

Spigen GLAS.t SLIM = non-rounded borders - (0.23mm) - thinner
Spigen GLAS.tR SLIM = rounded borders (0.4mm)
You're correct the t is the thinner material. Either way it feels great and installs fairly easily.
I had the glas for the s2, I LOVED(easy to clean the screen of finger oils) it, however, it attracted dust underneath the screen protector due to adhesive being only at the edges, I took it off after a couple of months. With the full adhesive, i will definitely buy again for my soon to arrive S4. Especially since I just dropped my s2 face down on the ground and broke the screen a couple weeks back (without case), the glas would serve as a shield.
as per the title, which is the preferred screen protector for this device. thinking of getting one soon (an S4 that is)

actually, don't worry too much. i've used mediadevil on my S2 and it's been great. they're available for the S4 too.
Actually, you don't need to apply any protector to your phone, if you can stand for very minor scratch to your screen.
The corning glass is excellent scratch proof, I have been using no screen protector since my first iPhone 4 and coming with samsung s3, s4, iphone 5 and etc.... What you get is a better screen, color and contrast if you just don't mind the minor scratches.

I bought a cheap glass screen protector off of amazon. It was some generic one from China. With Amazon prime free shipping I couldn't pass it up.
pros: super clear, finger print resistant, protects screen well
cons: breaks after some abuse (though better this than the screen)
When my first one broke after considerable abuse I ordered two more to replace it. at $10 it wasn't bad. When the one I have on now breaks, I'll just pop my backup on and order another spare.
This cheap and the feel of real glass vs the Ghost Armor I had before, it's great.

I got mine on eBay and have the same philosophy. The glass fells like the screen and under abuse the tempered glass will crack.
It happened to me recently and I installed my spare and bought two more.
Can't beat the way the glass ones look and feel.
I also bought an aluminum button to extend the factory button. So now the home button is not recessed.
I have had my iloome screenmate for a good while and it hasn't cracked or anything and it has been used.

$20 is cheap insurance to protect your screen. A plastic one isn't going to protect your screen from damage. It may protect it from scratches but not from being busted if your phone is dropped.

You can't go wrong with the SPIGEN SGP Premium Tempered Glass Screen Protector, once you install it correctly it really holds and protects the screen from pocket scruffs.
My cousin got into a motorcycle accident last year and the screen protector w/ the Spigen slim armor case protected his phone.
Tempered glass is the only thing for me from now on. $5 on eBay. Feels excellent, optically clear to me. Same screen sensitivity to me.
No need to blow 20+$ on big names. I break it, buy 5 more. No big deal.
Buy plastic sheets and the scratch and peel off in a week.
Even no name temp glass is better.
For me is the anti-glare screen protectors, for read is the best choice.
Does it come with one already applied to the screen or is it just a plastic wrap around the phone?
It is just thin plastic.

Mine came with a protector already applied front and rear. the plastic that was on the phone had to be taken off to put the SIM in and much to my surprise there was a screen protector already on the screen.
There's a screen protector on it under the plastic sleeve. You can tell it's there by running your hand over the front facing camera area. It's a finger print magnet tho so I took it off.

Same with mine. I didn't realize it was there until I noticed the seam around the prox sensor.
I left mine on, no problem with touch responsiveness.
So?
Is it just plastic or not. I think it is. I bought a very expensive screen protector cause of the expense of the phone and it does not fit the LG G5. It also doesn't stick down at the top where it curves. Taking this back again.

Seems like it's just cheap, generic shipping-protection plastic, yeah. I had a screen protector that shipped with my case, but it also didn't stick at the top where it curves... So, it's a good thing I was just buying for the case. Now I just have to never, ever, ever drop it on that spot at the top where it curves...
so, what about applying a tempered glass protector? On top of the existing one? or remove the existing one?
I like the existing protector - it's been quite fine IMHO, and no bubbles, very smoothly applied!

I imagine it's gonna be a pain. With that light curve at the top, you'll have to be sure you get the right protector, and even so, it might just not cover the curved part at the top. The screen protector I got wasn't glass (harder plastic) and didn't have a curve to fit, so I think it was a G4 (didn't have one, myself, just assuming it didn't have a curved top) protector that was trying to be passed off... Research, research, research first!
The protector I ordered stops just past the top edge of the 'screen, below the speaker. we'll see how that goes. It's scheduled to arrive Friday...

That's the only decent screen protector that fits right now. There's also a matte finish one. It's not tempered glass, but you get 8. The fit is much better than all of the tempered glass ones on Amazon. It's not 100% perfect as tiny bit of the edge don't stick but you won't notice from the distance unlike the current tempered glass.

If any part of a screen protector doesn't stick then all manner of stuff will get stuck in between. For those w/ colored borders, that's not much of an issue but completely clear ones will eventually show all the dust and stuff on it.

The essential screen isn't flat. I don't see a viable glass protector coming. It'd have to be super thin with a really strong adhesive to make it stick to the sides.

Actually much like the iPhone, it's flat until you get to the edge.
If the current round of protectors was 2mm smaller they would fit.
But for me, it doesn't matter.
I'm returning the phone.
There's still a thin bezel on the side that can handle adhesive on it so if they release one with black borders, I'd get it as the black borders won't show the halo effect even if it's not completely stuck on the outer edges. That's what I have on my iPhones. The display area is glass while the borders are plastic so they flex more.

Jus wait for the accessories to start coming out. Sounds like essential is open to 3rd parties making cases and screen protectors... So just got to hold on...this is what it sounded like from the reddit AMA
I have a Sopi 3M matte skin on the back and it helps with the grip a little but not by much... definitely helps w/ the fingerprints though... lol since it's matte, there can be visible smudges from time to time depending on how dirty/sweaty your paws are... I did read the AMA and they should've worked w/ case manufacturers long before release. I understand they want to keep it close to their vest until release (as to not tip off the competition) but they didn't ship the phone until much later than they said they would so in that time they could've sent out the outside schematics/dimensions to case manufacturers. No excuse!
The situation is the same for any devices that have curved edges. I'm not sure why companies just don't apply adhesive to the whole screen protector. A solution is using UV glue on a glass screen protector that isn't fully covered with adhesive. I've used the Whitedome on my Galaxy S8+ and it works really well. You should be able to buy the UV glue and UV lamp from Amazon and apply it to any glass screen protector. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KZmF8uQESI
Hello all, I have tried a couple of tempered glass screen protectors; I have also read many many reviews.
It seems that there is no tempered glass protector that would be full screen; fit (most) cases and does not release on the edges for all.
I actually did not mind the screen protector which was installed by 1+ when I got the phone (and I did not like the tempered glass ones I tried).
So I contacted them today asking if I could buy a couple of those. To my biggest disappointment I was advised that although I am not the first one to ask, they do not consider the included screen protector to be a "product" and so they do not sell it even if I wanted a large quantity.
I spent some time researching ebay - but most (nearly all) sellers sell only tempered glass (which I don't want). The few seller that sell films are very expensive ($10+ vs. $1 for the tempered glass). That is also surprising as the cost of the film is much less...
So, my question to you all: who has tried film screen protectors? Where did you get it from and what experience did you have?
Thank you for sharing
I personally use 3MK Flexible glass - its hibrid glass. I use it from years, now on OP6. I think its the best option for any phone

How is the fit on those? Can you possibly snap a pic of it on your phone with a case on as well?

I don't have one installed at the moment, testing a G-Most TPG. But the fit is pretty precise, need patience to get it even on both sides. It's case friendly.

I installed it. its a little bigger than I'd like. if it were maybe 1 cm smaller all around it would be perfect fit. im sure you can align this to fit correctly, but it leaves no room for error. ill try and get a pic.

Hmm, thats not good. Is it equally too big each way or is it just difficult to install totally centered, so its big on one side only?
A pic would help for sure.
I finally found regular PET protectors similar to the OEM ones that fit the phone well and are of good quality. I got them from here:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/5X-Ultra-Thin-Tempered-Glass-PET-Soft-HD-Screen-Protector-Film-For-OnePlus-6/163161457336?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=462326426650&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
The adhesive is pretty sticky on them so they don't lift off but it's hard to get them perfectly bubble free. The way I get these on perfect every time is put rubbing alcohol all over the screen then apply the protector and set it in place exactly centered (it's easy to move because of the alcohol) Then lightly push down on it and very lightly push out some of the alcohol so you don't see any bubbles. Then wait five minutes and peel off the front layer then lightly with a small cloth push out the rest of the bubbles. When the alcohol dries (takes about 10-15 mins) it will adhere perfectly and there will be no residue, bubbles or dust under the protector.
I've got an IQshield on my OP6 http://www.iqshield.com/iq32368-oneplus-6-phone-screen-protector.html
I tried a few TG ones and wasn't happy with any. They either didn't stick properly or had the annoying black border. The IQshield is the best protector I've tried.
The best screen protector is the soft nano TPU protectors they sell at ebay or aliexpress for a buck a piece and these cover the whole screen and can be applied wet with some soap and water.

Does it cover the entire screen or leaves a gap at the edges?

I know why you are asking ...Most protectors don't cover the edges well. But this does .
I got this one:
OnePlus 6 Screen Protector, IQ Shield LiQuidSkin Full Coverage Screen Protector for OnePlus 6 HD Clear Anti-Bubble Film
From Amazon.
Accidentally dropped it on a concrete slab that had small gravel and dirt all over it about a week ago. Right out of my pocket. I do have one of those Tudia cases on it with a lip, HOWEVER some of that gravel did hit the glass. Tore up the screen protector in a couple spots. They kind of look like pin pricks but no discernible cracks or knicks in the glass what so ever, and the other scratches to the screen protector went away after rubbing with my fingers.
Talk about a freak out moment.

How is the texture and clarity of the IQ? I got a Skinomi (with has a similar product description) and personally I was not happy with the stretchy texture and less-then-smooth feel when swiping. Also, it seemed to like clarity and almost had small "webs" when looking at it at certain angles. (not bubbles)
