Random question - Should my baseband number be the same as my Build number? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Earlier today i got myself an Tmobile Galaxy S7. and of course the first thing i do is hop onto XDA and see whats possible as far as rooting the device. The phone had the newest update in limbo / waiting to be installed but i didnt install it in case i couldnt root / downgrade. After reading i managed to root the S7, and reading more i decided to update to the newest update (PG1).
Two things i noticed after updating / rooting.
1. Wifi calling isnt available any more
2. My Baseband number (PD8) and my Build number (PG1) arent the same number / version. I know one is for the modem and the another is for the ROM. But shouldnt those number be the same. maybe not.
Thanks for the help.
/Rooton

Your baseband should be pg1 I think.
If you flash pg1 in Odin then baseband should definitely be pg1
Maybe Odin pg1. It should make wifi calling work

Thanks for the reply.
I just got back from flashing PG1 yet again, but with the same result. My baseband version is still on PD8 while my Build number is PG1.
I am using odin 3.12 ( Odin PrinceComsy). Is there another version of Odin that i should be using?
EDIT : Looks like i fixed the problem. I was using the correct version of Odin but i read on another XDA forum thread that if you insert all three files ( AP, CP, CSC) rather than just the AP file, it should work. after trying this out, my baseband and build number are now both at PG1. Thanks again for the reply

Yeah use regular Odin. That one you using is only for the rooting process.
I use Odin 3.11 And this firmware shared by another XDA user.

The regular CSC file factory resets your phone. The home CSC file saves your user data.

Successful flash of SM-G920F - Anyone

OK, no matter what method I try I am unable to achieve a successful flash of my phone. I have tried it via odin with many different firmware versions but all seem to fail almost immediately. The only way to resolve this is to use samsung switch and reset phone to stock. The problem is stock firmware is german vodafone full of vodafone bloatware, I want to get rid of it and flash a UK unbranded firmware but no matter what I do I am unable to achieve this. I can see from the forum that there are many people out there with the same flashing problem but with no real responses on how to achieve the goal. There must be people out there that have achieved this task but don't seem to be offering up much help?

Is your phone international unlocked out of the box? I dont believe it was, because as far as I've read international unlocked phones come with "unbranded" firmware. The unlocked ones I know can be pretty much flashed with "any" international firmware, which is what you are trying to do.
If you dont know for sure. Odin the stock German Vodaphone. Let the phone boot. Boot back to stock recovery, then factory reset and clear cache.
Then let the phone boot...Download phone info app by vndnguyen (free version is fine)...Open the app, go to CSC Code tab. Then that will tell you the active CSC code and your firmware CSC code...you are looking for the line that says Available CSC Codes. If it only lists German Vodaphone (VD2), then I believe you are stuck til the phone is unlocked.
Anyone, jump in here if I'm mistaken. I am using this as reference as, I've checked my G920F. Mine is unlocked tho and I can flash any firmware from any region with no problem. Hopefully I've answered your question.
I had no luck with the firmwares on the firmware page either.
If you are on OI9 check http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/guide-android-6-0-marshmallow-beta-how-t3277533
And try flashing the first stock firmware https://drive.google.com/folderview...sharing&tid=0B40ItdHKfkyQd1hJQXVDU3dDU2c#list (not the android M one!) via ODIN.
Basic process is:
Download the above file, extract, there should be 4 files inside (AP,BL,CP,CSC), simply select each one to go in the relevant box on ODIN, then go into download mode on your phone and click start...
N.B. Be aware that the above firmware contains a PIT file which will reformat and resize the partitions on your phone, so make sure you have a copy of the stock firmware that works before trying the flash (i.e. the one which Smart Switch downloads). You can grab it from your windows %TEMP% directory during the smart switch download (it first downloads a file to TMPxxx, then extracts it into a directory of the same name, its these files you want. They should be the four files beginning with the type of ODIN file you are flashing (AP,BL,CP,CSC). The files get deleted after the firmware has flashed so make sure you watch the process. If things go wrong you can re-flash these files via ODIN
As far as I was led to believe and when I purchased the phone it did state factory unlocked. I was able to put in any sim when I received it and didn't have to go through any aftermarket unlock process?
I have the same problem i have a unlocked G-920F with egyptian CSC and firmware 5.1.1 .when i try to flash BTU 5.1.1 via odin, i have the same problem and only way to recover is via smart switch.BTU firmware is from sammobile

its BTU firmware of 5.1.1
and flash this firmware you'll have 4 files AP,BL,CP,CSC,put it in the respective boxes in odin.I have tested this right now and it works
Press "thanks" if i have helped
Well downloaded the app for CSC info and it states available CSC codes are...
ATL, AVF, CNX, CYV, MOB, MTL, OMN, SIM, SWC, TCL, VD2, VDC, VDF, VDH, VDI, VGR, VIP & VOD
Any ideas?

Just type in %TEMP% into you windows explorer address bar and it will take you there. arrange by date modified and you will see the size ticking up during the download, before the flash starts it will extract into a folder with the same name, the md5 files can be grabbed from there
No probs here

Magic, have had great success. Now on the BTU firmware and everything is up and running. Got the stock as well just in case but if this continues to work won't be reinstalling stock. So a big thanks to those who helped

Serial Number for Three (UK) SM-G920F

Can any one provide me with a Three (UK) S6 Serial number so that I can download the full official stock firmware via KEIS/Smart Switch? EDIT: I now have one from a display model PM me if you need the firmware
I need to change my unbranded (BTU) phone to The official Three firmware (H3G) (for 4G voice calling)
I bought an S6 from Amazon which came unlocked with AUT region software. I've managed to find and Flash an official BTU firmware via ODIN, however I cannot find a full OI9 H3G stock firmware.
FYI for BTU, the ones from the firmware page do not work for me (even with a PIT), I kept getting the Sw rev check fail device 3 binary 2 error. However a full official flash i.e. with the AP, BL, CP, CSC file did work. Which is why I need the serial number, or alternatively a full copy of the Firmware. I also do not wish to root/flash another recovery as I need KNOX.
Please PM me if you don't want to post on the live forum
Thanks!
I doubt someone would give their serial number, but I would suggest trying a PIT file, it may/may not trigger knox status but I did it to get EE Branded firmware for wifi calling and it worked.
Where did you get the fimware to flash to the BTU?

Already tried a PIT, didn't work... thats why I want the full firmware. I will just go and grab the serial from a display phone at a Three shop, thought XDA might be quicker tho.

As I said in your thread, I got the firmware from this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/guide-android-6-0-marshmallow-beta-how-t3277533 Its a full firmware download rather than the partials that are posted on the firmware page.
looks like @abdussamad tried it out and it solved his flashing problem as well

You have to use a custom PIT file in order for the hidden part to have enough storage so the Three firmware can work.

[STOCK][LATEST] OFFICIAL SM-G935U's G935UUEU4APL4 Firmware for the T-Mobile Variant

Hi there XDA,
First of all, I don't claim to be a developer nor I am here to plagiarize/steal/uncredit those developers and providers.
Therefore, this post is to provide you with the latest UNLOCKED SM-G935U Stock Firmware for
users running the T-MOBILE variant (SM-G935T)
There were many comments on threads as to when the firmware would update, and finally is here!
Note: I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR THIS, I DID NOT CREATE THIS OR STOLE FROM ANYBODY. THE INFORMATION PROVIDED LINKS DIRECTLY TO SAMSUNG's OFFICIAL FIRMWARE WEBSITE "SAMMOBILE".
Note to the Community: This latest version is confirmed to have ISSUES with ROOT. After successful root and/or XPOSED, Wi-Fi connection, overall lag, and heating issues are present. So it is up to you if you decide to root or not.
Note to Admin/Moderators: IF YOU FEEL THIS THREAD IS NOT APPROPIATE OR IF YOU WANT TO ELIMINATE THIS THREAD, FEEL FREE TO DO IT. My intention is just to provide the community with this update for the SM-G935U (T-MOBILE) Firmware as quick as possible for those in need and for those pioneering fellas.
As soon as I am done setting up, I will surely provide you with any insight/features added to this update.
Happy developing...
RECENT UPDATES ON ROOT PERFORMANCE/STABILITY [Jan.30.2017]: This 4APL4 Variant INDEED works with the root method by @Mastajeff, I can't find any issues at all. I personally believe that this Firmware version without root works even better for whatever your needs.
*** BASED ON PERSONAL USE AND RECENT DOWNGRADE TO STOCK G935U###4API3, I ENDED UP HAVING BETTER PERFORMANCE, BATTERY LIFE, AND STABILITY WITHOUT ROOT. I JUST WENT ON TO DISABLE COUPLE SYSTEM APPS WITH EZ DISABLER. I NOTICED BETTER RESULTS, PERFORMANCE, AND STABILITY USING ROOT ON THE PREVIOUS #4API3 FIRMWARE VERSION. (THIS IS JUST MY OPINION BASED ON RECENT UPDATE I DID, BUT IT IS ALWAYS YOUR CHOICE TO WORK ON)

Thanks,
Hello my friend, of course you can upgrade without losing data.
But I have a quick note for you, if you have a micro sd card will make everything better.
But if you don't, just upgrade using latest Odin version v3.12 by flashing THE BL, AP, CP......AND MOST IMPORTANT THE CSC FILE....Don't flash the HOME_CSC. You won't lose anything at all my friend.

As a matter of fact, T-Mobile's SM-G935T also released an APL4 Firmware update.
So we are better off flashing the latest CP File from SM-G935T into the G935U APL4 Firmware.

Hello there pal,
I've sucessfully flashed this update and the VERY FIRST THING I NOTICED is a SMOOTHER UI. During the setup I noticed an increase in speed and touch response.
Samsung Pay comes in by default and it can't be disabled by default. Other than that, the ONLY down I noticed....AND I MIGHT BE WRONG GUYS BUT....I am actually surprised to notice significant battery drain
Have you personally went on to flash this update??

Perhaps quarkw something was not or was checked that caused the pit to partition your puppy with Odin. When you flash via Odin from one one rom to another there is always a chance of losing data.
Once you wipe cache in the recovery step (if you did this step) there were some other options that may have wipe the phone or your MicroSD card.
The files may actually be present and you may have lost root, if you had it. There are so many variables that could have happened.
It sucks to loose data, it does.
But look at it as a learning experience and make the time to perform the following steps next time.
If I were you, get root then get TI backup over at google play (get the paid version) to backup everything to your MicroSD that way you can always flash without losing data.
TIP: save your present contacts with their phone numbers, email address & address to Google Contacts, so whenever you flash and format, your contacts will be there automatically with you once you sign into your Google Account.
Perhaps I may write a tutorial on how to flash / backup rom & data APKs and such. It took me a while to learn the ropes too.
I'm pretty sure you flash the HOME CSC file if you DON'T want to lose all your data, thats what I've read else where here on xda

Yes if you were using the G935T CP modem you do have to flash the API3 modem in the CP section of Odin to get the OTA update for APL4. I didn't lose any data doing this.
Also I could have sworn I could still use Wifi Calling on the API3 firmware. But I definitely can't on APL4. Can anyone confirm if you do have wifi calling with the API3 firmware with the US unlocked modem or API3 firmware with the T-Mobile APK1 CP modem?

[Help!!!!] I can't flash stock firmware.

I have a Galaxy s7 SM-G930T and I have went through countless of thread and tried many solutions that worked for other people but I can't seem to get my phone to work. A couple of days ago I tried installing XDA framwork through FlashFire and that got my phone stuck at the T-Mobile screen for hours. I tried flashing the stock firmware that I got off of one of the threads here and I keep getting the error "SW REV CHECK FAIL : [SYSTEM] FUSED 3 > BINARY ." I tried many different stock firmware and they don't seem to work. Also when I try to boot in recovery mode I go in a loop. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: When I was able to get into recovery mode I got this error:"dm-verity verification system"
Some of the solutions that I tried include: Using a different cable, using a different usb port, and trying many different Odin version. None of them seem to work.
You've tried the G930TUVU4APK1 firmware? This is the latest firmware prior to the Nougat beta. As long as your flashing all the correct items (AP, BL, CP, CSC) it should go through with no issues. How are you flashing it through Odin, step by step? What Firmware version are you using?
Here's another method, although I've had limited success (watch the video): https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...p/flash-stock-firmware-using-samsung-t3079176
The post is about the S6 Edge but the process is the same. You'll need your phone's serial number, which should be on the box it came in. Not sure where to find it if you can't boot (maybe on your T-Mobile account online?).
Edit: Here is a link to the latest T-Mobile firmware. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1YW4xR_q5t5UDktc1lSVUFFdGM/view?usp=sharing

Going back to SM-G955W from SM-G955U

Hi i bought a second hand s8+(SM-G955U) it was still on nougat and i didn't get any OTAs, so i update it to Oreo with Odin. I still dont get OTAs, and i never could find my CSC related firmware in g955u models on sammobile. so i looked up my device in IMEI.info and find there that my device is actually G955W and from there i also found my CSC based firmware in Canada my CSC is XAC. I just also find on the back cover of my phone that my s8+ is actually SM-G955W. so my question here is how could i go back to g955w firmware? Just download g955w firmware and flash it through odin?
In setting my phone is

Baseband version G955USQU5CRL2
Service provider SW ver.
XAA/XAA/XAC
and the firmware ive downloaded from SamFirm is
Model Sm-G955W
Region XAC
PDA G955WVLU5BRJ2
CSC G955WOYA5BRJ2

Use the patched version of Odin. Just search Google for "patched Odin" & you'll find it. However, if you use the G955W version of the firmware, you'll lose several features of your phone. For example, the G955W firmware disables the FM Radio. Good luck.
