Unlocking Bootload (Rooting) - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm writting this to help people looking to unlock there bootload (root). I spend so much time trying to flash a kernel to my S6. There wasn't very proper information out there to actually tell you how to do it, if your phone is already unlock, and errors you were having while flashing the kernel.
Here are some questions you should know. (Experts or people that know please correct me as I just learned)
1. Unlocking a bootload is the exact same thing as rooting. If your rooted already then you don't need to bootload. Try rooting your phone, if you can't then you'll need to unlock the bootload as the device is locked. Which is rarely.
2. Tap build number 8 times to unlock developer options.
3. Toggle USB debugging
4. Find the AP file. Most downloads are .zip files. The can have 4 files or 5. Try finding the AP file or go to www.sammobile.com.
5. So your phone is already went through the first and second step, now you can proceed.
6. Open Odin.
7. Turn off your phone to download or turn it off completely and and click volume down + home button + power buttom. Do it step by step. Hold it until download screen appears and click continue you.
8. Plug your phone. (Sometimes errors can happen because the USB connection is not good. For that you'll have to download a USB patch from Samsung/ (your phone) so it can give better verification to the Odin with the phone.
9. Add file to AP and click start. (sometimes you can't find the file because the AP file is in a zip. folder that you downloaded. So drag it to the desktop screen so AP can find it.

Should just name it How to Root. Unlocking bootloader is a different thing.
And the AP specifically for rooting is the custom recovery. In this case twrp.tar.md5.
I don't know if the current modem/bootloader is rootable easily. Last time I remember has to downgrade to L bootloader, flash recovery, flash back M booloader.

Post 3: How to reverse everything and go back to stock
Post 4: How to ADB Sideload a ROM
Alright. This is for everyone who wants to root their phone. I've seen MULTIPLE threads of the same question "Can I root my phone and How do I do it". So I hope I never have to see it again! In this tutorial, I use use my toolkit as the way to root. Doing it manually takes forever and that is why I made my toolkit.
Requirements:
HTC One S (charged to at least 70%)
Windows XP,Vista,7 (8 is not officially supported since I don't have the drivers)
USB cable
Ability to read and follow step-by-step
Understanding that I am no way guaranteeing anything. If you screw up your phone, you probably didn't follow my steps and made a foolish mistake.
Let's begin.
Download my toolkit from here.
Link 1 and Link 2
Extract the FOLDER to your C: drive or to your desktop.
MAKE SURE YOUR DIRECTORY DOES NOT HAVE A PERIOD OR SPACE.
Open One S.exe
So now you have my program open. Great.
On your phone, go to Settings -> Developer Options and Enable USB Debugging.
From my toolkit, Click 1. Install HTC Drivers.
After the drivers install, restart your computer.
After your computer loads up, open my toolkit and connect your phone to the computer. Your phone should now be recognized.
Now, click 2. Register at HTCDev. Register with a VALID email address and LEAVE the web browser open.
Now, under the commands section of my toolkit, press Boot into Bootloader.
You should have a nice, white, shiny screen that says FASTBOOT USB.
Click 3. Get Token ID. Look at the pop up and it will tell you how to get the Token ID.
Highlight where it says < < < < Identifier Token Start > > > > all the way to < < < < < Identifier Token End > > > > > and right click and it will automatically copy it.
Now, click Submit Token ID. Your web browser should now open a new tab. Scroll down and in the empty box, paste your Token ID. Press submit. HTCDev now emailed you your unlock token.
Your phone should still be in the bootloader. Now, go to the email address you registered to HTCDev and DOWNLOAD your unlock_code.bin. Press 5. Unlock Bootloader. Locate your unlock_code.bin and it will flash it to your phone.
READ the warning. THIS WILL WIPE ALL YOUR DATA FROM THE PHONE.
When you agree to it, press the volume up button and press the power button to accept it. Your phone will now restart.
When your phone loads up, go through the set up wizard. Then, on your phone, go to Settings -> Developer Options and Enable USB Debugging.
Under the Extras section, press Perm Root. It will push SuperSU.zip to your phone.
Now, it is time to flash a recovery. The custom recovery is for 2 different devices
TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) is a custom recovery that will allow you to flash custom ROMs, Mods, etc.
If your phone is the S3 model, then flash the one that says TWRP (S3)
If your phone is the S4 model, then flash the one that says TWRP (S4)
If your phone is the special edition 64Gb model, then flash the one that says TWRP (Special Edition)
After it flashes, remove the USB cable and have HBOOT selected in bootloader. Press the power button and it will reload to another screen. Press the Volume Down button until you get to Recovery. Press the power button to select it.
Go to Backup and back up your boot and system partition. Always have a back up before you flash or do anything.
After that, go to Install and locate SuperSU.zip. Click it and slide the screen on the bottom to flash it. After it flashes, reboot the phone.
In your app drawer (your menu with all the apps), open SuperSU. If it says the binary needs to be updated, then update it. If it doesn't, then you are fully rooted!
Post 2: How to flash a custom ROM and kernel (boot.img)
The fun part! Now, I will teach you how to flash a ROM and boot.img
Find a ROM you like, the first thing you should do is make sure it is COMPATIBLE with your phone. If you find a ROM that is for AT&T and you have the International model, don't be an idiot and flash it. I will not help you with that since you already agreed to my warning from the first post.
S3 ROMs don't work on S4 models and vice versa.
Also, DO NOT ASK IF YOU CAN FLASH A ROM FROM ANOTHER DEVICE!
Will it work? NO! Will it ever work? NO! Can I flash it anyways? Brick your device, I don't care. I warned you.
Let's get back on task. So you found the ROM you want to try, so go ahead and download it. KEEP THE THREAD OPEN! MAKE SURE YOU READ EVERYTHING AND REREAD IT AGAIN! READ WHAT USERS SAID ABOUT IT AND ABOUT BUGS! GO AHEAD AND READ THE WHOLE ENTIRE THREAD! GAIN KNOWLEDGE!!
Connect your USB cable to your phone. View the folders on your phone. I like to make a folder called ROMs on my phone and transfer it in there.
After you transfer it, open my toolkit and press Boot into Recovery. When you are in TWRP, MAKE A BACKUP!!!
After you make a backup AKA a Nandroid, click Wipe. Wipe Cache, Dalvik, Factory Reset and System. NOTHING ELSE! If you click anything else, IT WILL WIPE YOUR SD CARD AND YOU WILL HAVE MORE ISSUES ON YOUR HEAD!
So you wiped everything. Great. Your phone is ROMless, Yay!
Now go back and press install. Go to the folder where the ROM you downloaded, is located in. Select the ROM and slide the screen to flash it. After it flashes, press the back button. Press Reboot and Reboot into bootloader. Open the ROM you downloaded from your computer. You should see boot.img. Extract it to your computer. Open my toolkit and press Flash a Kernel. Locate the boot.img and it will flash it.
After it flashes, press reboot from the phone.
Congrats! Enjoy your fully working or borked ROM! Remember, DO NOT ASK FOR ETAs, DO NOT BUG/PM A DEV ABOUT UPDATES, and BE RESPECTFUL TO THE DEVELOPERS!
Post 3: How to reverse everything and go back to stock
Now, let's talk about getting back to stock. There are 2 ways to do this.
1. Flash the stock RUU (If available) (Recommended)
2. Restore your Nandroid (backup that I told you to make earlier)
1. I'll talk about flashing the stock RUU first.
Open up my toolkit and press "Factory RUU" from the links sections. I usually have the most updated RUUs that Football releases on my Dev-Host account. Download the correct RUU for your phone.
Now, back up all your data (pictures, contacts, etc) since this will put your phone back to complete stock.
Connect the USB cable to your phone.
Press Relock bootloader. It may give you a security warning error or it may say failed. Who cares, ignore it. It's normal.
Your phone will boot up normally.
When the phone is fully loaded. Unplug and replug the USB cable back in the phone. Now,run the RUU you downloaded and follow the instructions.
Your phone will be back to stock.
2. Now, we will talk about restoring your nandroid backup.
Connect your phone to the computer. Open up the folder to view the files on your phone.
From your computer, Go to TWRP -> BACKUPS -> (Your hardware Serial Number) -> (Folder you wish to restore to) -> and copy boot.emmc.win to your computer. Rename boot..emmc.win to boot.img
Open my toolkit and press boot into recovery.
Click Wipe. Wipe Cache, Dalvik, Factory Reset and System. NOTHING ELSE! If you click anything else, IT WILL WIPE YOUR SD CARD AND YOU WILL HAVE MORE ISSUES ON YOUR HEAD!
Press back and press Restore. Choose the backup to restore to.
After it finishes, press the back button. Press Reboot and select bootloader.
Open my toolkit and press Flash a Kernel. Locate the boot.img and it will flash it.
You are now back to your stock Nandroid.
4. How to use ADB Sideload
You may have seen what ADB Sideload around the forums but have no idea what it is. Since the HTC One S does not have an SD card, it makes things harder when you have to flash a ROM.
Here's a scenario when we need to use ADB Sideload.
1. You accidentally wiped your internal SD and have no ROM on your phone
2. You wiped your ROM and forgot to transfer a custom ROM/have no backups(Nandroid) available.
3, You have none of the above and there is no available RUU for your phone. <----- This is a real bummer.
Here are the steps to load on a ROM
I placed TWRP in my toolkit for a reason. CWM does not support ADB Sideload (as far as I know) and TWRP does.
Boot into recovery manually. Turn your device off and hold the VOLUME DOWN + POWER button together until the BOOTLOADER pops up. Press the VOLUME DOWN button until you have selected RECOVERY. Press the POWER button to get into RECOVERY.
Connect the USB Cable to your phone and computer.
In TWRP, click "Advanced" and select ADB Sideload.
Download a ROM to your computer (if you haven't already done so). Rename it as one word. For example CM10.zip, QX.zip, ARHD.zip, etc.
In my toolkit, under the extras section, press ADB Sideload a ROM. Press "Yes" when it asks you if you are in recovery. Then select the ROM you want to install. It will then sideload it to your phone and flash it.
After it finishes, press the back button. Press Reboot and select bootloader.
Pull the boot.img from the zip file and extract it.
Open my toolkit and press Flash a Kernel. Locate the boot.img and it will flash it.
You now have a ROM on your phone!

You need to flash back the stock recovery to run the OTA but you may have to root it again.

Hopefully this post goes correctly, it's my first post on here. I have the T-Mobile HTC One S. Whenever I get to this step it says there is no internal or external command for 'fastboot', and in another post, you had stated that it should be 1 word for the command prompt, which all of mine are, and it continues to do the same thing, and unfortunately, the all in one kit wont take me to the bootloader. It tries to do it, but then I get the phone with the red triangle with the exclamation point on it. I have to manually get it to bootloader, the command in the tool in one kit wont do it either. Please Advise. Thank you.

AW: [HOW TO] Unlock bootloader, Root, Flash Custom ROM, Flash Kernel
Nice Instructions, perfekt.
Greetz from xxxvale46xxx

Unable to access bootloader after rebranding attempt (AL00 (B225) -> L29 (C636))

I was running the Ephemeral Mate 9 B225 ROM on AL00. It worked well but I wasn't satisfied with the custom ROM.
So I decided to rebrand to MHA-L29 and run a stock rom.
I started converting my MHA-AL00 (B225) to MHA-L29 using this guide: Link
I've override the L29C636 OEMinfo while keeping the other 5 existing files of the original OEMinfo intact. (See attachment for original OEMinfo files)
I got stuck after restoring the new OEMinfo through TWRP recovery as stated in the guide.
The phone booted up and started the installation of the new firmware. When completed it did a reboot but it never started up again.
Now my phones doesn't respond to input from physical buttons although my PC does recognise a decive as "HI3650". In device manager it also shows up as "Android Bootloader Interface".
Summary of process followed:
1. Bootloader unlocked
2. Instaled TWRP
3. Flashed Ephemeral Mate 9
4. Did a OEMinfo back-up
5. Changed AL00B225 OEMinfo to L29C636 oeminfo
6. TWRP back-up recovery
Next step should be to unlock the bootloader and instal TWRP again but I can't get to interact with the phone at this stage.
Can anyone point to what I did wrong and/or advice me on the next steps I could take?
Use this link mate, always succeed for me, dont need to do anything, just download 3 big files, copy to sdcard and run the bat file.

I can copy those files to the SD-card though a different source.
How can I run the update bat file from the SD when its inserted in my phone?
The phone doesn't respons to ADB and I can't get it to boot in bootloader or recovery. It even doesn't show up as a storage device at my PC (both internal and SD storage).
30-08-2017 14:50 UPDATE: It seems fastboot does recognise the device but adb doesn't. It there a way to use fastboot command to run the bat file or restore the OEMfile back-up. Both are present on the SD-card.
Questions @lemonade747: Does the phone need be be bootloader unlocked and TWRP instaled? I have a slight suspicion that that it both the bootloader got locked and TWRP uninstaled afther the TWRP recovery back-up to L29C636.

Go to download mode (power + volume down), plug the cable and run the bat file from the link I give (remember to download all small link and extract to the same folder), follow its instruction (in the cmd window) to complete the installation. Sorry I cant give your more clearly step. Regarding your question, if your phone has already unlocked BL, it will move to the next step (install the recovery), if not it will ask you put in your passcode to unlock BL then the next step will happen. All thing I said here is in that bat file, very detail.

Thanks for your detailed explanation, but it didn't solve the problem.
The phone is not responsive to go to bootloader mode (power + volume down) and the screen stays black. Fastboot command also dont seem to get it in bootloader mode. I keep getting the error message: (remote: Command not allowed).
The phone won't start up and is not responsive to any input and therefore unable to check status of USB-debugging. (unknown if it is enabled or disabled at this stage).
This stage happend, as explained in the first post, through TWRP back-up recovery with L29C636 OEMinfo files.

There are two method to go to the download mode:
1. Make sure the phone DOES NOT connect to any charger (via cable). Press volume down + Power button and wait at least 10 seconds. If the phone are connecting to charger or laptop, it wont work.
2. Press and hold the volume down button then plug the cable to your laptop (or charger but I prefer laptop cuz we can move to the next step without disruption), it will enter the download mode automatically.
If after trying two method above and still dont work for you, you may need to flash stock rom (including stock firmware) by using E-recovery method.
5-9-2017 UPDATE: I've been unable to solve this issue by myself. The phone is sent for repairs, fingers crossed they will accept it....

f1f unlock bootloader help

so i tried looking for old os found link on thread here still didn';t work i have f1f latest offical stock can't flash magictrick as it is outdated :crying::crying::crying::crying: help
Which one do you want? The first full zip provided on the now closed OPPO forums?
Deleted
Download this https://mega.nz/#!MlAUkTwT!uZbcwSRvbkOJKF2jMkzxukqEVp3_SNG_QcdHYnpyDMw
Copy it on the root of internal memory, format data, install the zip and try magictricks again, it might work. Not tested.

It don't have to be the old os just Any way to. Root the 5.1.1 would be great also if there is any magictrick for the latest official stock or the old one case i got the wrong one
it is the same that i tried and not working
The probability older version of ColorOS is in the Qualcomm factory reset or recovery tool. As it makes a reset of almost everything, I guess magictricks would work again.

I've been trying also to install magictricks on my friends oppo f1s running Android 5.1 Version: A160EX_11_A.33_170814
Installation fails everytime.
Can anyone help?
Note: Seems that when I enable OEM unlock and reboot to stock recovery & try magictricks. After it fials and I reboot
back to developer options OEM unlock is off.
Tried flashing Specified_ColorOS_F1EX_full_010.zip in stock recovery and that fails too.
can you guys help me in installing twrp
note: CMD mode says failed: devices unlock..why? I have installed a megictrick
When i get into recovery mode and install the magictricks.zip, i get a error "installed version is lower than current". Why is this?
Also my Volume-up + power button doesnt get me to fastboot mode, note that i have installed adb drivers, tried with adb..it doesnt work.

Anyone unable to unlock BL on lateest/newer firmware , heres's solutions which i sucessfully unlocked mine.
Things needed :
1. Stock Firmware (MSMDownloadtool files)
2. Magictricks.zip (we need the mbn file inside the zip)
3. Twrp (downlkad from twrp.me) choose whatever version you need, i suggested to use the latest one.
4. Root (optional choose whatever you want supersu or magisk, i've sucessfully rooted mine with magisk.
Download latest Firmware (MSMDownloadtool files) you can seaech and find it , to get think easier i suggested you download it from here
https://www.firmware27.com/2016/09/firmware-tool-oppo-f1-for-unbrick.html?m=1 use the 06322 Build.
Once you've download it extract the zip files, now download the Magictricks.zip extract the .mbn files into the same folder you've extracted the firmware files before, replace the .mbn files with that .mbn files from magictricks.zip, open Msmdownloade inside and flash it (enter the download mode vol + vol - hold togather while you put the usb into computer, wait till all flash process done, and turn it on to makesure everythings goes well.
Hold the vol+ and power togather to entering fastboot, from this state you guys really know how to doing next... Fastboot oem unlock , and now flash the TWRP and ROOT your device, hit thanks if i helped
#edit, i saw the NV error messages jusylt ignore it dunno how and why that means

There's many problem with your solution.
1. After i extracted the firmware, there's no "Msmdownloade" File.
2. There's no download mode in Oppo f1f. I've tried pressing vol up and down and power, nothing happened, i've tried pressing vol up and down while put the usb to computer, nothing hppened.

[GUIDE][ROOT]Galaxy M30S Bootloader Unlocking and Rooting Guide

Disclaimer
I'm not responsible if something went wrong on your phone(Usually nothing goes wrong). You are doing this on your own responsibility. Rooting your phone may void warranty so don't root your device unless you know what you are doing.
Before Installing Magisk
Your device is non-A/B and uses system-as-root, so Magisk will be installed to the recovery partition of your device.
Installing Magisk for the first time REQUIRES a full data wipe, backup before continue( I would recommend to use SmartSwitch app for backup )
You have to have your bootloader unlocked before following the instructions.
Unlocking Bootloader
Allow bootloader unlocking in Developer options → OEM unlocking
Reboot your device to download mode. Turn off your device and hold volume up + volume down button, connect usb cable to PC
Long press volume up to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe your data and automatically reboot.
Go through the initial setup. Skip through all the steps since data will be wiped again later when we are installing Magisk.
Enable developer options, and confirm that the OEM unlocking option exists and grayed out!
Your bootloader now accepts unofficial images in download mode.
Instructions
Method 1
1. Download the latest firmware for your device.
2. Unzip the firmware and copy the AP tar file to your device. It is normally named as AP_[device_model_sw_ver].tar.md5
3. Install the latest Magisk Manager
4. In Magisk Manager: Install → Install → Select and Patch a File and select the AP tar file.
5. Magisk Manager will patch the whole firmware file and store the output to [Internal Storage]/Download/magisk_patched.tar, Copy the patched file to your PC.
6. Download and extract odin(link given below).
7. Install Samsung USB drivers if not installed automatically.
8. Reboot into download mode, odin will indicate blue in id:com if the device is connected.
9. Flash magisk_patched.tar as AP in Odin, together with the BL, CP and CSC files. Never flash only an AP file, as Odin can shrink your /data file-system if you do.
Important: Uncheck “Auto Reboot” in Options!
10. Magisk is now successfully flashed to your device! But there are still several steps
before you can properly use the device.
11. We now want to boot into the stock recovery to factory reset our device.
Full data wipe is mandatory! Do not skip this step.
Press and hold Power + Volume Down to exit download mode. As soon as the screen turns off, immediately press and hold the Volume up + Power button to enter stock recovery.
12. Use volume buttons to navigate through the stock recovery menu, and the power button to select an option. Choose Wipe data/factory reset to wipe the data of the device.
13. This time, we can finally boot to the system with Magisk.
Important: Select Reboot system now, and immediately press the Volume up + power button after seeing the bootloader warning screen, release all buttons so it can boot to the magisk system.
14. The device will automatically reboot for the first time it boots. This is completely normal and done by design.
15. After the device is booted up, do the usual initial setup. The following steps will need an internet connection.
16. You shall see Magisk Manager in your app drawer; if not, manually install the APK and continue to the next step. The app will automatically upgrade to the full Magisk Manager when you open it.
17. Enjoy Magisk
Method 2
INS Only
*To Make Things Easier*
1. Download the firmware(already patched) from the link given below
2. Unzip the firmware to any folder on your PC.
3. Download and extract odin(link given below).
4. Install Samsung USB drivers if not installed automatically.
5. Reboot into download mode, odin will indicate blue in id:com if the device is connected.
6. Flash AP, BL, CP and CSC files from extracted firmware. Do not load HOME_CSC and also leave USERDATA empty in odin.
Important: Uncheck “Auto Reboot” in Options!
7. Continue steps from 10 to 17 from method 1
Method 3: Rooting with TWRP[Thread]
1. Download Twrp based on ASL2 firmware only which already have magisk patched.
2. Go to download mode
3. Using odin flash TWRP in AP slot.
4. Reboot to twrp and format data.
4. Now you have Magisk + Twrp
Note: Magisk will be disabled when you reboot the device normally. To get into Magisk enabled system, Turn off your phone and use Volume up + power buttons to turn on and release it as soon as you see Samsung Galaxy M30S logo. This will boot into magisk system, I would recommend Smalipatcher module to reboot directly into magisk system.
Updates: For each and every updates, either magisk or system update always patch the firmware with magisk and flash using odin(data will not be wiped if HOME_CSC used instead of CSC)

Either use adb reboot download, or Turn off your device and hold volume up + volume down button, connect usb cable to PC
1. Download the firmware from the link given below.
2. Unzip the firmware to any folder on your PC.
3. Download and extract odin(link given below).
4. Install Samsung USB drivers if not installed automatically.
5. Reboot into download mode, odin will indicate blue in id:com if the device is connected.

Where is the step for patching magisk, if you flash it on AP slot you must insert the Magisk_patched.tar file, it look like you did not do it by your self. The latest Magisk v20.1 may be does not work. the problem is random boot loop.
You can watch this video below it will show you clearly steps by steps, you just need to change the firmware that match your M30s model number.

Please help: no "OEM unlocking" in Developer options of my M30s -- i.e. there is literally nothing between ""Enable Bluetooth HCI snoop log" and ""Running services" lines.
Thus after "adb reboot download" pressing Volume Up -- does nothing as well...

OK... funny thing: it is there now. The only thing is changed: I "gave up" on rooting -- and started setting up phone -- inserted SIM-card and attached my Google account. -- might be worth adding this to the first post.
Another issue: Odin flashing failed "in the middle" with small red text like "User firmware disabled".
Now phone is not bootable -- text appears:
And error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software.
Click to collapse
But the Smart Switch says "unsupported device"...
And "adb devices" can't see the phone now...

Resolved that issue flashing original (without Magisk patching) firmware.
Confirmed afterwards that you only can see "OEM unlocking" when your Google account attached.
But yes: it's appears that bootloader still was locked -- that "OEM unlocking" -- it's not grayed-out.
So, the question is: how you're supposed to unlock it?
-- "reboot download" and long pressing Volume Up there -- from the first post -- does nothing
-- "reboot recovery" + wipe data + reboot to bootloader -- from the "movie" -- does nothing
Comment if someone got success in Rooting m30s..!!

Considering we have Magisk available -- rooting is rather trivial. Setback is with unlocking bootloader
Finally Rooted
After couple of tries and disappearing OEM Unlocking button, finally I was successful in rooting using the method from this post. It took me some time to master booting directly into recovery after flashing patched images using Odin!
Also, did not realized that you need to connect USB cable to PC and press volume up and down at same time to get the bootloader unlock option.
Thank You OP.

How To Guide Rooting latest Firmware Issues Work-around (Tested by me on SM-A536B/DS)

As you know, to whoever updated to the latest firmware A536BXXU4CWB1, trying to install TWRP results in a bootloop, this happens due to some SEPolicy issues, furthermore, please wait until the TWRP mainter (Afaneh) gets his hands on the new kernel sources and patches it up to work with One UI 5.1
(I am not responsible for bricked devices after you follow this guide, this was tested by me and confirmed to work on the SM-A536B/DS Variant of the A53)
To those interested in rooting the latest firmware without twrp here is a little guide I made:
(Assuming your bootloader is unlocked)
Step 1:
Visit SamFW Website and grab the latest firmware for your device
Link for A536B
Step 2:
On your phone, go to this GitHub Page and download the latest Magisk Apk on your phone
Step 3: On the device you downloaded your firmware (ex: your phone or pc), extract the files inside and move the extracted AP file and move it on your A53
Step 3: Open up Magisk on your phone, select install, then select your AP file and patch it.
Step 4: After its done patching, rename the file to whatever you want then move it to your pc and open up odin. (Odin Download Link)
Step 5: After you've opened up odin hit the AP button and select your patched AP file you transfered from your phone, then connect your phone to the PC using a USB cable.
Step 6: Power off your phone then power it back on while holding both POWER button and VOLUME UP button, once you reached the Samsung logo let go of the POWER button.
Step 7: You're in recovery mode now, use your volume buttons to scroll down and select Reboot To Bootloader, hit power button then you will be sent to Odin Mode (Download Mode or some call it Bootloader)
Step 8: Your phone is now ready to flash the rooted firmware, make sure your USB cable is properly connected to your PC, in Odin make sure your patched AP is loaded in the AP slot, then click the START button.
!! This will take a few minutes, don't panick, once its done the phone will safely reboot to the OS and you will have root available on your phone, make sure once you've passed the Phone Setup, you go to the linked github page and download magisk apk again and install it !!
This applies to almost all Samsung phones from 2018 to 2023.
If you just flash the modified AP file to root your device without selecting CP, BL or CSC, ODIN could shrink the /data partition doesn't it?

you loose a little bit of storage, its fixable by flashing csc file in odin alongside the patched AP file
How do I get full write permissions? So that I e.g. in the file system/build.prop what can change? I have the latest rom update on it.
